Amarillo Guesthouse

Jane and Ged made us feel right at home - super friendly and attentive, great communicators and sweet details (such as home-made cakes at the entrance for us to take). Both are very warm and have lots of amazing stories which they shared during breakfast (which had a nice variety of choices. Additionally they both have great tips of places to go in and around the area. The decoration had a bunch of small details and the beds were very comfy. We can only recommend stay at their cosy guesthouse - we know we will if we go back to the area! A big thank you Jane and Ged, see you soon hopefully 🙂

Jane & Ged were exceptional hosts. The property is gorgeous, fabulous, quirky decor and very comfortable. Breakfast was continental and a wide variety that changed daily and the fresh coffee was delicious. Nothing was too much for the hosts, they were on hand to advise us of places to visit and good restaurants to go to and we were texted a list prior to arriving. Our every need was met and there’s a even a home baked sliced cake downstairs you can help yourself to complimentary. Bedrooms are again fabulous decor and beds very comfortable with luxurious throws that are so soft. Proper wooden blinds (jealous- what I want at home) and a good sized tv on the wall. Was great to climb into bed after coming home from dinner and watch a movie as there was Netflix available! The experience felt luxurious and pampering. The bathroom was on the small side but that didn’t really matter and the mirror in the bathroom was too high for me to see my whole face as I’m short !! There was gorgeous smelling hand wash, body wash and shampoo provided. There’s a fridge in the wardrobe and bath robes which is a lovely touch and tea and coffee making facilities as well as a Tassimo machine. All in all it was a perfect pick for us and we will definitely be back to stay !!!!

Would have preferred a bath sheet rather than a bath towel as I’m a little larger and towel was a bit small to wrap around me but it’s certainly not a deal breaker. Would also be great to have a shower caddy or shelf in the shower for your soaps and shampoos don’t like having to bend down to get more shampoo and you’ve got shampoo running in your eyes, but that’s just me and my foibles. Not really a negative.

Nicely decorated. Well equipped. Comfy bed. Friendly atmosphere. Great hosts. Did appreciate the face cloth as not every places provide them, as I often forget to bring one. Large varieties of continental breakfast with a British touch (crumpets).

I would have like breakfast to be available from 7h30 as at 9 am, by the time you are finished most of the morning is gone. And when you plan a trip for the day, it's nice to be able to leave bright and early after having your breakfast.

We stayed at Amarillo guesthouse for 3 nights over the Easter break. We had nothing but a great experience from start to finish. The hosts Ged and Jane were fabulous and really attentive. Their attention to detail and friendliness was second to none, down to the fact they left Easter eggs on our beds when we arrived. They ensured our whole stay was comfortable and even sent us a text of suggestions of where to visit and eat before we arrived. Breakfast was included and the spread was absolutely amazing...there truly was something for everyone! Nothing was too much hassle for them and they even gave us some pastries to take out with us. There is absolutely nothing to fault in this place and would happily give it more than 10 stars. The only thing to note is that the room we stayed in was the only one that did not have an ensuite, but it was still a private bathroom and there were some robes available for us to use to go to the bathroom. The location was great, half way between Boscombe and Bournemouth, both of which were approx 20-25 minute walks down the beach front. Parking was free on the road and they have a few spaces at the front of the property. Overall an incredible stay! Would certainly stay here again if we get the chance!

Excellent, breakfast was more than adequate with a lovely array of food and drinks, service was second to none and nothing was too much trouble for Jane & Jed.

Everything was perfect ! Parking was good and walks to the beaches, sea, food and restaurants very close. With a exceptional array of bars, restaurants, cafes etc in the main town that was only a 20 minute stroll away. It also seemed that Jane and Jed had ordered for us a full 7 days of bright hot weather to complete the weeks stay …….. Perfect !

We like the romantic atmosphere and ambient of the room. The room is tastefully and elegantly presented with European Style design and decoration. The arrangement of furniture and equipment are well considered, with power points for our laptop easily accessible near the tables. The Breakfast is a good spread of fresh and tasteful food, juices and many more. What we need for the day can all be found. I like best the freshly brewed pot of coffee served personally by the owner. Besides the nicely presented food corner and well designed dining area, the owners who initiated friendly conversation with us have contributed to our enjoyment of the breakfast and overall, make our stay at the hotel a happy and memorable one. We will not hesitate to recommend Amarrilo Guesthouse to our friends and relatives.

We have no dislike.

Jane and Jez were perfect hosts and couldn’t be more helpful. The place was spotless and the buffet breakfast was 4*and the best we have ever had in a B&B with so much to choose from and apart from the usual cereals, fresh fruit, toast, juice smoothies etc, there was always a number of different daily specials every day. There were also two bikes that you could hire if you wished. The information they provided prior to arriving on places to visit and place to eat out was very comprehensive. I could go on but to sum up our stay, it was EXCELLENT and we will certainly return next time we go back to Bournemouth.

Nothing at all, every was excellent

The hospitality from the hosts Jane and Ged was exceptional - they can’t do enough to help you. Great advice as to where to go and what to see. The breakfast was good and varied but I did not see anything on Booking.com about the English breakfast being an extra charge?

I was disappointed by the area and the people walking around in the evening that were obviously under the influence of more than alcohol. This of course is of no reflection on the hotel or the hosts - they were way above excellent and it would not stop me visiting again.

Amazing from the moment we arrived until the moment we left. We booked the Amarillo because of it's great reviews, and now we can see why it has such a high rating. Our hosts were unbelievably welcoming and couldn't do more for us. One evening I had sprained my ankle badly, so I asked if it would be ok to order myself something to the b&b for dinner to save me having to go out. Not only did Jane say absolutely yes, but she also set us up a table with a candle in the dining room, and gave me an ice-pack for my ankle. Upon checking out we were also allowed to leave our suitcases at the b&b while we went and enjoyed one last day at the beach before heading home. Although small, our room was spotless and very homely, I loved the zebra theme (room 8) and appreciated the smart TV with features such as Netflix and Disney plus to watch all of our favourite programmes. The bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was amazing and had a fabulous variety to choose from, along with the cooked breakfast by Jed which was incredible and worth the extra money. Jane and Jed went to the effort to catch up with everybody each day, and had many great recommendations of the local area. The location of the b&b is great as it's very close to the train station, and the main town and beaches within walking distance. We did make use of the beryl bikes/scooters which you can hire, which made getting around even easier and faster. This will be our number one choice when we come back to Bournemouth next time.

Can't think of a single thing we didn't like

A long weekend with my mum. Our room was lovely and clean. Breakfast was of a high standard you can order a cooked breakfast the night before or have the buffet. We was made to feel very welcome and nothing was any trouble. The whole house looks new and been just decorated its so pretty ....far more interesting than staying in an Holiday Inn.

The only thing we didn't like but its only a little thing....our bathroom was outside our room and was worried we might wake someone up in the night if we needed the loo.
