Holiday Inn Darlington - NORTH A1M, JCT.59, an IHG Hotel

We have stayed a few times as we visit our grandchildren we normally stay in the same room for mobility reason the staff are all very helpful and polite if you need anything there will do there best to help so this is nice we like the new shower set of shampoo and hair wash that was a nice extra to the room.

we like to have a drink at the end of the day and there is not much to choose from beer or wine seems to be very poor also we have a good breakfast but this time the black pudding was not cooked as the triangle pieces were to big sounds like we are being fussy but we are easy going otherwise we have a good stay with you

The older lady at reception on Sunday the 13th August 2023 is the most polite and kind person I have met. Very nice lady. Please tell her this is from the black lady whose son was coming to join her from Plymouth that morning. She was helpful and so kind and caring. A real human being with a heart of Gold! She is an asset to your company. I left the hotel with a smile. God bless her.

Furniture could be updated. You could at least put a biscuit in the rooms for tea.

Unfortunately, either the person situated above our room seemed to be walking around into the early hours on very squeaky, noisy floorboards. Same in the morning - early riser. Unless it was the fact that we were in the end room and all the people upstairs had to walk past our room, but on the upstairs corridor to exit either in the lift or on the stairs. If we stayed again we would ask for a room on the top floor and as far away as possible from the exit and lift. Forgot to mention that we don’t drink tea or coffee, so when we came back to the hotel, feeling cold and damp, there wasn’t a hot drink available in our room. WOULD BE NICE TO HAVE HOT CHOCOLATE SACHETS AVAILABLE FOR THOSE WHO DON’T DRINK TEA AND COFFEE!

The location is well out of town. Taxis were not easy to get and were often 15mins away. If you have a car, it’s probably not an issue though. Our room was for two adults and two kids (8 & 5) and it wasn’t really big enough. It was basically a studio with a fold out sofa. The power points were on the opposite side of the room to the beds. We found this strange. The bathroom was odd, with the sink in the main bedroom, technically outside the bathroom.

Owning holiday cottages I know how hard it is to get good honest cleaners. I met two of your ladies and I have to say they were lovely. The room was very clean I do hope you pass on to the my appreciation as sometimes these ladies are forgotten. They are your must import staff. Look after them well and tell them how appreciated they are

Ordering at the bar I ordered a g and t. Was nit offered lemon and there were two blocks of ice in the glass. Thankfully one of your other staff noticed the poor presentation abs rectified the situation. Later on in the evening the till was being closed up and there was a severe lack of knowledge on prices of snacks and a general malaise within the staff.

Handy to break up our trip from Edinburgh to London. Right off the A1M so easy to get back on in the morning. Rooms were clean & spacious although our room was at the back of the building so we did get sim noise from the motorway. Good choice for dinner from snacks to fish & steaks, reasonably priced. Only had 2 beers on draught out of 5. Good choice for breakfast as well

it was so clean the breakfast was amazing and there was plenty of choice just a small thing baconcould be a bit more done but that is just my preference the staff were amazing Dee on the front desk was lovely and the ladies who saw to the room’s we’re lovely well done ladies and a special Thankyou to Michelle I hope we can visit again and will definitely recommend to family and friends cannot comment on evening meals has we did not try them the only problem it was a bit out of our price range would have had evening meal otherwise

Room was clean, very comfy beds, excellent bathroom (shower had seat), desk fan didn't work, but was exchanged instantly. Breakfast was ok, good selection, but cooked breakfast items were not the best, over cooked black pudding, undercooked tomatoes and the mushrooms were very strange. Staff were all helpful and very pleasant. Aircon in room didnt work it would heat but not cool.

Food was excellent, we had dinner and breakfast, both were cooked well we particularly enjoyed the burgers. Hotel and room were clean to a high standard, staff were very helpful, we had asked about a nail file which they were happy to provide and the lady at the front desk checked if we had enough tea and coffee in the room, we had but it was lovely of her to ask, we felt well looked after and the whole experience made for a stress free stay, thank you.

Dogs were allowed at the hotel and there was a furry visitor next door, unfortunately the pup didn’t settle so well and was barking a bit but due to the location of the hotel I can understand why they would be allowed, it didn’t completely ruin our stay, our overall experience was good.

All the staff were extremely friendly and very helpful. I had a young dog with me that I didn’t want to leave unattended in the room and was travelling alone so couldn’t go up to the buffet. I was able to eat breakfast in the lounge area with the dog beside me and a kind member of staff selected food from the breakfast buffet and brought it to the table. A good breakfast which was included in the price - very good value for money.

Rooms were soundproofed between one another but not around the door so inconsiderate, noisy guests walking along the corridor were a disturbance.
