Breakfast was excellent and Mei, who prepared the breakfast was very helpful in arranging for our departure. Calling a taxi for us and allowing us to keep our luggage in for a few hours after checking out was a bonus. We were traveling from the west coast of the United States and were going to a hotel closer to the airport, but the check in time would have made us take our luggage around on our last day of sightseeing and that would have been most difficult.

There was a lot of emergency vehicle traffic noise (sirens) in the evening. My wife is very sensitive to noise and light when sleeping. It didn't bother me at all, however.

Location was close to public transport and walking to sights. Shops close by.

The small room needed a good cleaning; dirty blanket, finger prints on several surfaces and well used items looking old. The bathroom smelled and affected the room. Bed and pillow were not very comfortable. I came down for breakfast 20 minutes before time to finish but no coffee was available (had to be made), no menu and bad proportions compared to other offerings in Scotland. Got kicked out of breakfast room so it could be cleaned. They knew I was leaving before breakfast on my second day but didn’t take that into consideration.

I had a very pleasent stay at the Edinburgh Holiday Guest House. The host was very courteous, friendly as well as considerate. The breakfast was fantastic. I had fresh eggs and beans with some toast and jam. My room was small but cozy and very clean. You´ll reach city center via bus (station in front of the guest house) or by food (ca. 20 min). In the area you`ll find some really nice restaurantes to dine like the Southpour, which I can recommend. You can reach Arthur`s Seat in just a 30 minute walk. I would definitely come back.

At night you might hear the other guest trying to get into their rooms due to problems with handling to type in the door code. If you are a light sleeper you might be woken up by it. Besides this everything was superb!

We were very happy with this B&B. The host was absolutely lovely and so eager to please. Very kind lady. The breakfast options were plentiful . Easy 15- 30 min walk to lots of sites you want to visit when in the area. Parking isnt guaranteed but there are a couple of car parking spots on the property and we did get one, so that was great. Not sure where i would have parked otherwise.

The private bathroom was across the hall and didn’t have a fan or window so got very hot and stuffy. You couldn’t leave the door open, obviously because it led out straight into the hallway, so was uncomfortably stuffy when showering, changing. The door code panels were extremely loud, so going to the toilet in the middle of the night would wake everyone up. Surely they can be set to a silent mode?

Mei was very friendly and met you at the door. Showed you around. All the doors are keypad locks with specific numbers to get in. We stayed in room 2, which has a separate private bathroom, which was great for my partner as he is toilet shy. Windows are old-fashioned lift to open, but they have put lock screans on to increase security and safety. Mei came in whilst we were out to open curtains and refill the tea and coffee stand. Which is in the room. Breakfast was amazing, cereal, toast, and fried options all included in price, and mei made sure all the condiments were stocked and a fresh pot of coffee was brewed when we came down. We didn't meet Duncan on our stay, but he contacted us prior to arrival to make sure everything was okay. Free parking on prive for 3 cars, although this is a narrow opening and difficult to see from the road.

Doors are really heavy, and the bathroom door closed really fast, me, my 6 year old and my husband all got our toes caught. At one point. Should have a safety close on. Onsite parking is not communicated well prior to visit and is hard to see from the road. Bushes have started over growing sign and are very sun faded, so it was slightly harder to find.

Mai, Duncan and Bobby made us very welcome and looked after us exceptionally well. Room clean, warm and comfortable. Shower excellent. Decent breakfast included in the price which made stay even better value for money. Although on a main road, it was quiet with no noise from traffic. Lots of busses into and beyond Edinburgh right outside the door (flat fare of £1.80 for adults no matter how long the journey with £4.50 daily limit), or easy 20 minute walk into the city centre. Plenty of local shops of all descriptions to enjoy in the vicinity. Perfect location for sightseeing in and around Edinburgh - and we will be doing so again later in the year!

The WiFi is (as stated on EGH website) a bit hit and miss. There are several options to try and eventually I found good link.

Excellent value for money, given breakfast and parking were available, only 20 mins walk from Edinburgh center. The room had everything needed and a little coffee and tea setup. The staff were very friendly and helpful, everything was well explained and I enjoyed my stay.

The main shower head was disconnected and the holder for the smaller head was broken, so you couldn't raise the height. Showering was still accomplished though. The room was a little bit rough around the edges and is at the stage of needing a repaint, but it was clean and well equipped. The bathroom had a bit of a sewer smell, but some of the shops in Edinburgh did too.

Mei was bloody awesome! Due to the train stike I arrived early and because I'd let them know, and to see if I could leave my bags there until check in time, my room was ready and I was able to check in early. The breakfast was amazing with a huge range of foods and Mei would make you a hot breakfast every morning if you wanted. The B&B is very close to the city centre with regular buses and the stop right near the B&B. Or walk there in 20 minutes. Room was serviced every day. I would definitely stay here again and highly reccommend this B&B.

The carpets were very old and dirty and could do with replacing.

It is a lovely guest house with a very kind host. The room was bigger than expected and we had no issues. Since it was facing the garden the only thing we could hear that night was a dog barking, but that was hardly any trouble. The room and the attached bathroom were both really clean and provided everything one might need for a short trip. A bus stop is very close by and you can walk easily into town within 20 minutes. Breakfast was really good and Lin cooked freshly for us. You could choose from egg, bacon, beans, sausage and some more options. Check in and check out were without complications and a big big thank you for providing us with sandwitches when we had to catch our early flight and therefore couldn't attend breakfast! :D

Maybe one more fruit option between bananas and apples would have been nice? But that is just a tiny tiny thing. Our stay was lovely and I can recommend that B&B with all of my heart.
