Holiday Inn Express Edinburgh City West, an IHG Hotel

Great staff and location. Really fast check in process, staff was extremely helpful, good breakfast.

Heating system made sounds and disturbed. Poor sound insulation, noises from the hallway.

The hotel has very friendly staff, really happy to see us and our dog. We had a nice room, with windows that open, which is a rarity in some hotels. Our room seemed to be well soundproofed as we didn't hear other guests except through the door. The bed was comfy, pillows were firm but not too firm and the room was big enough for us to put our dogs bed on the floor without us tripping over it/him.

The food for my partner who wanted a cooked breakfast was overall good, the sausages were a little dried out. For me as a vegetarian who doesn't really have dairy the options at breakfast were limited, I didn't want to eat a lot of carbs in the morning. There was loads of bread, cereal, pastries and muffins. Some yogurt, fruit, jams. Unfortunately the porridge was the prepacked kind with milk powder in it, not great for vegans. The staff were a little hard to find at breakfast to order vegetarian sausages and there was also no way of even knowing that this was even an option. The vegetarian sausages were so dry they were quite hard. It'd be great to see veggie and vegans better catered for.

Location was great! A good veiw of the city and castle from our room. Breakfast was brilliant, the pop pancake machine was a hit! Eat as much as you like and great selection.. even a grab and go bag! Staff were helpful and friendly, even when we had a false fire drill! They made sure we were all accounted for before allowing us back into the building.

Room and bathroom was a little small for a family with dogs, but we were comfortable!

This hotel is in a great location for visiting Edinburgh, bus stop outside across the road (41 to princes street) cheap 1.80 one way per person 4.40 all day per person. Hotel is clean, staff are all courteous and attentive, breakfast was well organised and plenty of options available, toast cereal, continental, bacon,scrambled eggs,sausage, beans, freshly ground coffee etc, bonus that the car park is free. Close to local retail park, Sainsbury’s, kfc, Nike outlet store,Costa coffee Would recommend for a good hotel near the city hopefully will return soon 😊

Breakfast was fantastic. Easy check in. Free parking space. Great facilities. Comfy family room. Easy travel between the hotel and city centre which was approx 8 mins by 41 or 43 bus located right outside the hotel.

There was a gigantic ball of fluff/dust/hair on our carpet as soon as we opened the door. Wasn't ideal but didn't warrant a trip to reception to make an issue of it. We got rid of it and everything else throughout the trip was grand.

Everything really very helpful and friendly staff plus an excellent location and a very clean room with a real city view. The breakfast room was very well stocked and the choices were plentiful .A major plus for us was the fact that this was a genuinely pet friendly hotel.........the doggy welcome pack with our pets name on was a lovely touch

No negatives from our visit at all

The hotel is perfect for a vacation. We were a family of 3 at the hotel and spent a week vacation exploring Edinburgh. The room was with a beautiful view, comfortable and clean. Breakfasts are typically British with little vegetables but nutritious. There are quite a few stores next to the hotel which is a plus when it comes to shopping. There is a bus stop under the hotel - to the center 10/15 minutes. Reception very helpful. The price/quality ratio is very attractive.

No small refrigerator in the room, safe and breakfast on worm days only until 09:30 by which around 09:00 formed queues for tables.

I have used this hotel for over 20 years as it is ideal for visiting family in Edinburgh and we have used it in the past for family celebrations. It is an excellent location to get into city centre as there is a bus stop right at the entrance also you could walk into the centre in about 30 mins. The views of the city absolutely amazing both day and night. The staff are very friendly and helpful especially Lee on the reception desk who has become a good friend every time we go. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the buffet breakfasts good.

In the past the parking at the hotel was free and this was excellent in the city of Edinburgh. It was the jewel in the crown and one of the reasons we used this hotel. I was surprised to see that they now charged £5 per 24 hours which is not a lot for Edinburgh if you only staying a few nights /weekend but would mount up if staying longer

Location, facilities, rooms, beds, housekeeping all excellent

Reception staff were not very helpful, check in was ok but all other requests are ignored. For example on the second night when I asked some change to give a tip to the delivery driver, abruptly denied the request to change for 20 pound note. I am sure this could have been sorted. If we were given a option, we could have bought a coffee/drink at the bar to get a change and it didn't come to my mind at the time nor the staff member advised about it. Other service were excellent including house keeping and waiting staff at the breakfast area.
