The Corner House Hotel

We were visiting family who we usually stay with. Unfortunately one family member is seriously ill, so we needed somewhere close by, and this was perfect. I asked for a top floor room, which wasn't available, but was offered a quiet room, which was great, so thank you. The room was lovely, and I love the high ceilings as it gives a feeling of openness which was perfect. The room was beautifully clean, and your cleaning team do an amazing job. The reception staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. My husband had the Scottish breakfast every morning and he loved it! We really enjoyed our stay, and would recommend you to all!

Only one small thing for me.... a mirror in the room would have been good!!! As a woman it's very hard to dry hair, or put make up on without having to run into the bathroom where the only mirror was!!! Especially when my husband was in the bathroom!! It just didn't work!!

We arrived Friday, got a lovely welcome. Our room was nice and big, looks like it had been freshly painted especially bathroom. Comfy bed n the pillows are just the best. We had breakfast for both mornings and was spot on. Nothing was to much bother. We had lunch Saturday which was fresh and best soup we've had. We had a nice chilled weekend and we have booked again. Hotel is central, train station is 10 mins walk away. Plenty off parking spaces at back off hotel which is great.

Could do with curtains just to block the morning light coming through the blind at the side. No shower gel so make sure u take some. we was in 1 off the rooms on the 1st floor which was right over the Shed bar, was very noisy. So didn't get much sleep. If your a light sleeper ask not to be put in 1 off them cause you defo won't get sleep till after 1am.

Its a lovely quirky hotel set in the heart of the town with easy access to local amenities, restaurants and main roads to nearby towns. The family rooms (203 and 204) were clean, comfortable, and well maintained - a good honest value for money 2 night break. The staff were polite and exceptionally friendly, and we were reminded that if we needed anything at all, just to call in at the reception. Nothing is too much effort, and Alex was a wonderful hostess. The breakfasts are hearty and well worth adding on if you're staying. Stay for lunch, have a drink at the bar, mingle with the locals and take your time to soak up the history of this fine old school hotel! We will be back!

During busy times, the parking can be busy, but there is a spill over carpark across the road. I understand this cant be controlled by the hotel as its shared with a couple of other pubs. Its so insignificant, its hardly worth mentioning, but still important for visitors to be aware of.

Breakfast room was very nice. In the mornings there could have been more staff on. Seemed a bit much for one person. Food was good. We also weren’t told we had to pay prior for our meal. Which seemed a bit odd..seeing as how we were staying at the hotel .. the one lady seemed upset we hadn’t paid but we didn’t know and we also didn’t know we had to let them know we were going to be having breakfast. She seemed upset with us.

To be better informed upon our arrival. To be honest the staff could have asked us if we were having breakfast during our 2 day stay.

Clean and rather large room. Flow heating in the shower. Family space with two rooms very handy. Tasty breakfast.

Appearance is a bit more on the cheap side - not much of a character you might expect when seeing the exterior. Too little furniture in the room, could do with a decent table. Location is convenient, but the smell from the window was distinctly as on the animal farm. Since there are no conditioners, the window needed to be open. Noisy outside. Very long wait for the breakfast - about 20 minutes after ordering.

Room was spotless, nice white fresh bedding. Ample tea coffee milk available. Cooked Breakfast was very good hot and varied, all cooked as you liked it, various cereals if required. Hotel was Central in the town with ample free parking at the rear of the hotel. Staff were very pleasant and helpful.

Quite a few stairs to climb which was not a problem to us as we only had holdalls but could cause problems for the less agile and those with suitcases.

Room was small but extremely clean. Bed was ok. Staff were friendly and very welcoming. Bar was comfortable and very reasonably priced for a hotel. Would stay again for a night. Large off road car park.

Bathroom was a very tight squeeze, but then my partner is 6ft 5! Main downside was the noise from the main road. Room was above the sports bar which was noisy, but it did close at 11pm so was not a problem. It does stay open later though at weekends (1am) so that could be an issue.

We traveled with elderly grandparents, they couldn’t have been more accommodating. All was so straightforward, we checked in and then went to sort outfits for our wedding, we then went to the small bar below, before heading back to the bar in the hotel. Honestly, the lady behind the bar couldn’t have been more helpful. Everything you could want and need in a small area, for us it was a last minute stop before moving onto the next destination and we said between us, we’d definitely return when we have more time as we really enjoyed the bar below and how quite the hotel was during the night. We didn’t find a single fault with our stay at this hotel.

The staff were excellent, very friendly and welcoming. Service was prompt and efficient; nothing was too much trouble. We had burgers for dinner and they have to rank among the best I have ever eaten. The fries were really crispy on the outside and soft in the middle, truly excellent. It seems odd to wax lyrical about a meal of burger and chips, but it raised my eyebrows, it was that good! Keep up the great work, guys, you are doing a fantastic job. We are looking forward to going back later this week.

For a mid-ranking Hotel the staff are delivering top-rank service and food. There was nothing we didn't like.

Lovely hotel in a decent location, right on the high street of Annan, we stayed here as we were attending a wedding in Kinmount house which is only a 10 minute drive from here. The staff were lovely and very helpful and welcoming. We stayed on the first floor and the room was very clean and comfortable. A few squeaky floorboards and the walls are a bit thin so noise from the outside corridor could be heard when people walked past which was probably more due to the age of the building, and hard to fault the hotel otherwise. Fantastic value for money and would stay here again if I was in the area.
