My husband and I and our dog Mutley stayed at the Golden Lion as we needed a base for a few days whilst we visited some childhood memories The hotel is very comfortable, dogs are welcomed the only area that they cannot go in is the dining room. You can leave your dog in the room whilst you go to breakfast or you can eat in the bar area. Breakfasts were buffet style for cereals and pastries etc. Hot breakfast items were cooked to order, were tasty and very well cooked. Main meals were traditional pub fare, but good value. Our room was very comfortable, and was serviced every day. All the staff were really friendly, helpful and welcomed Mutley!! There is a car park for the hotel at £6/day, but there is free parking directly outside, you just have to be patient and wait until a space is free, but that was never more than a few minutes Top tip - We dumped the car and used the excellent bus service from the terminus in town using the coastal service to get to Kings Lynne and to have a good look at the countryside This is a well located hotel close to good beaches (old Hunstanton a 25 minute walk) and to drive out. We had a lovely stay here, I would fully recommend a stay here.

Location is excellent and all the staff were incredibly helpful and kind. Rooms simple - but have everything you need and wifi works great. We were travelling with our dog and he was welcome in all areas except restaurant (you could eat in bar though). Finally and very grateful for this, but when we had to cut trip short, hotel was understanding and only charged us for nights stayed! Amazing!

Parking is a bit limited on hotel Premises, so we had to pay for parking behind theatre across the street. We liked our sea view but please note in windy days - will make some noise as wind hits building/windows.

The staff were all friendly and helpful but the reception & restaurant staff were exceptional brilliant. As a woman travelling alone I felt that they were just keeping a little eye on me to make sure I was OK. They would take the time to talk & give advice on things to do, where to go etc. I felt like I'd made some friends 😃. Great view from the window. Facilities clean. The weather spoilt the trip but hotel made up for it. Will definitely go back to this hotel. (sorry for the late review, thought I'd already done it)

Shame no lift & on second floor. Felt stairs got longer as day went on.

Lovely location and very friendly reception staff. With easy access. Room was good size with huge bathroom. Bed was ok for a standard double. Even on the ground floor it was very quiet. Also Secure car parking as long as you rang ahead to book it.

The room was looking quite tired with the net curtains very tired with the bathroom one being torn. The room was large enough to have a kingsize bed which nearly all hotels have these days. Had to pay for onsite car-parking. The breakfast staff were in need of a happy pill. Things ran out at the breakfast buffet and we had to keep asking for refills.

We liked that we had a spacious room with a sofa and a, his and hers bathroom with bath and shower. The hotel was near the sea and we had a sea view from our window. The room was suitable heated with the extra added touches and comforts. We wanted a quiet retreat to recharge our batteries and was satisfied with the location.

Food was limited during the evening and you had to book in advance, which we found difficult when we were out during the day and not sure when we would be back. During our stay the first 2 nights were quiet but the rest of the week we could hear a radio or music being played in the room above and was distracting when we were watching the tv and also woke us up in the morning. It would be a good idea to place a small fridge in the room to store milk and wine to keep chilled, or foods needed to keep chilled, especially in the warmer months.

The room was clean, warm, and well supplied with towels and hot drinks. I found my bed very comfortable. Every staff interaction was friendly, polite and helpful. We had breakfast and dinner. The food was well cooked and filling, very pleased. The restaurant service was friendly, polite and attentive. The location was perfect for our evening at the Princess Theatre, with a beautiful sea view. The bar staff were also very nice. I especially enjoyed seeing people able to bring their lovely dogs to enjoy their stay with them. Thanks all, would definitely stay again.

I can't think of anything personally that could've been better for our one night stay. Only thing I can think of that may be better for the hotel overheads is to perhaps switch off the towel heater in the bathroom now it's summer.

The staff were amazing, from initial enquiries, through to the welcome and everyone we encountered throughout our stay. We had a superior double which was really large and had a sea view. We also had our dog with us and the hotel were incredibly dog friendly. There were areas you couldn't go with your dog which is absolutely fair (a seperate seating area for breakfast) so it suits dog owners and non dog owners too ! A special thanks to Trish who welcomed us and helped us with all enquires and Nicky who was incredibly helpful when my partner became ill on the last night and we thought he may not be well enough to travel home the next day. (Just to clarify his feeling unwell was nothing to do with the hotel!) . Also lovely being able to see rthe sea from the bedroom window and walk to the beech in minutes.

The rooms would benefit from having a mini fridge, especially if you're staying for a few nights .

Staff lovely, from receptionists to waiting staff. Room good size and at end of corridor so quiet and peaceful apart from extremely creaky floorboards which made all furniture rattle and must have disturbed guests below us! (Room 117)

As mentioned, the floorboards were wobbly and creaky to the point that all furniture in our room wobbled and must have disturbed other guests underneath us. Understandable in an old building but it was very loud! We had dinner on the Sunday night at the hotel and the food was very tasty and waiting staff great but very slow to get each course out from kitchen.

My wife and I stayed in the Golden Lion for a Thursday night in early May. We parked in front of the Hotel which is free, but is on a first come first served basis. We were checked in quickly with our dog, Teddy, receiving plenty of tickles behind his ears. We went up to our room and were pleasantly surprised by the size of the room and excellent view out over Cliff Parade and the Green. The bed was big and comfortable and the bath, in the very clean bathroom, was large and deep and the shower was as hot as you like and nicely forceful. The Golden Lion is ideally placed for the beach and town centre, too and we would happily stay there again.

We would have eaten in the Hotel, but service ends at half seven which is too early for us so we ate out. However, breakfast was nice, although they had run out of Croissant, as we had picked a very late slot for our morning meal.

Staff are incredibly friendly and accommodating, quick to sort any issues that arose. The hairdryer broke on the first use but they replaced it literally within 5 minutes of asking. Really, really lovely team of staff. Breakfast was excellent and set us up for the days walking ahead! Room was enormous and, despite the crazy cold temperatures, our room was always lovely and toasty! And of course.. Our dog adored being showered with love and treats at every opportunity!

The shower didn't have any warm water during our whole stay, but plumbers were in before we knew it trying to fix it. Whilst they were unable to fix it, they still tried which is a positive thing to focus on. I should also point out we also had a bath so it absolutely wasn't the end of the world - it just presented a challenge or two in washing hair and the dog whilst we were there.
