The hotel/pub can accommodate a lot of people. There was enough room to move freely around without it feeling overcrowded. We stayed in a family room which was large - there were only 2 of us in the room but large enough to accommodate a family with plenty of room. A free standing fan was placed in the room which we were grateful for as it was humid staying here in July The staff were very understanding and courteous as we unfortunately had to leave early due to a family emergency Would totally recommend this hotel/pub as it is in the Town centre and parking available just over the road which you can get for about £16-5 days

Our room was beautiful, looked recently redecorated in a 'boutique style', large bathroom with separate shower cubicle, lovely neutral colours throughout. The staff were excellent - personable and welcoming. We extended our stay and they ensured that we could remain in the same room which was helpful. There were bottles of water in the room which is a nice touch as I have to take medication. The hotel is in a great location on the market square, easy walking to both the bus and rail stations and right beside the theatre/cinema.

The collection of empty glass bottles at 6am was noisy although we understand its absolutely necessary and it didn't last long. Our room was warmer than we're used to (we're from the North!), but a Dyson fan was provided which we used to good effect.

We had a lovely lady check us in, sorry i didnt get her name.We had the lift up to our room, which was very good as my husband is waiting for a hip replacement and uses a stick.We entered the room with our key card that gave us entrance to everywhere, including the pub, for evening meal before going a few steps to the theatre, and a good value breakfast the next morning.The room was lovely and quiet, with a fan to use and everything we could have asked for.The welcome tray was 2nd to none and i have not experienced a better stocked one anywhere , even bottles of water.A very comfortable large bed and a very good nights sleep.Another very nice lady checked us out in the morning and asked if everything was ok.

property was nice and clean and beds were comfortable. room was quiet compact so if you had disabilities you would need to request a room to suit your needs as the twin roo we had wouldn’t be suitable size. nice size bathroom with bath and shower over bath. our only problem was the room was very hot in this nice weather so even though a lovely Dyson fan was provided it was still uncomfortably hot in the room and wi does only opened a few inches for safety purposes. staff were lovely in the hotel so friendly and welcoming and also in. the bar area. food available was good and as always priced very well. we enjoyed our stay and will be back.

The room was perfect. I liked the desk and chair. The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was excellent. The staff were friendly and, when they saw my cycling helmet, suggested that I leave my bicycle on the premises to guard against theft or damage. I liked the adjoining Wetherspoon pub, where there was a good selection of my favourite cask ales. Also, I enjoyed the breakfast and evening meals, which were all very good value, with almost instant service. My late mother and father enjoyed staying at this Globe Hotel in 1946, while on their honeymoon. I'm glad I got the opportunity to stay here too, 77 years later!

Good location, also comfortable, clean and quiet. Check in and check out staff were very welcoming and polite.

Breakfast was disappointing.No fruit or cereal on offer. Could only really offer fried food as they said they had run out of items. How to order and where to order was not explained properly by the bar staff and one member of staff was particularly curt. Another member of staff was perhaps a bit embarrassed and tried to be more pleasant. Shame as this was a bit of a let down. I also didn’t like the Wetherspoon magazines. I don’t want to know about the politics of the owner or anyone else when I’m trying to relax thank you.

Easy check in, great view of the square and a large TV

The hotel was great but the food in the bar was without doubt some of the worst ive ever eaten. Sausage and mash....mash was gray, peas overcooked and dried out and the gravy had the consistency of jelly and all of it was freezing cold. Not only that but the waitress with a blue streak in her hair stormed over with it( and I'm not exaggerating ) literally threw it on the table without ever looking or speaking to me and just walked off. I've never seen a server with such a pissed off look on her face and she made me feel like I was nothing but a piece of sh*t off her shoe. I have never been treated like that in my life and if I was her boss she would have been getting p45 and been shown the door....discusting attitude!!!

Always find Witherspoon Hotels to be better than Travel lodge or premier inn but not quite to the higher standard hotels and this was no different. Saying that is was good value the old side of the building looked impressive, at very good location and staff were very efficient and friendly and can have no complaints about the room.

Parking is at Market Square which is very near but obviously free hotel parking would have been better (maybe they can work something out with the council). View from the room was just the inner courtyard roof of the building so not the most inspiring.

Room and hotel were spotlessly clean, bed was perfectly comfortable and room perfectly set out. We expected it to be more basic but it was actually a lovely room. Bathroom really nice - shower pressure excellent. Good range of tea bags etc, good hairdryer, and mirrors. Love how the TV was perfectly placed for bed time viewing. Room was a perfect temperature.

Just little things like there wasn't a box of tissues in the room. It's great to have a small fridge but I appreciate that might be a bit much to ask for the price. And I miss how having a DVD player in hotel rooms used to be more common. These things and it would have been perfect.

Warm welcome by the lovely receptionist. Who was very informative of the hotels facilities and the history of the surrounding area. The reception area was inviting and it was great to have a lift. Bedding and towels were excellent, nice to have bottled water and glasses not plastic. Our room was a little cold when we arrived but the heater soon warmed it up. Great hairdryer and mirrors. A comfortable bed and room was quiet. Also easy access to the downstairs pub and to the town. Our friends were a few doors down but not ajoining.

Bathroom and decor in rooms a little tired needs a freshen up maybe some white paint.
