Strawberry Bank Hotel, NEC

Staff were amazing, nothing too much for them. The food was lovely. Chef was very amiable. Reception staff were very always helpful and professional. Waiting staff, always friendly, polite and upbeat. The hotel has a beautiful view for a back drop as well as a nice Bar/lounge and garden. Nice all round atmosphere. Room cleaned and replenished daily. Comfy bedroom, lovely shower. Will definitely be recommending this little gem and will definitely return when next in the area. Thank you to all at Strawberry bank hotel for you hospitality and making my stay very pleasant.

No nets at the windows, had to draw my curtains when in my room as it faced direct onto the beer garden and I didnt fancy people staring in..Parts of hotel need some cosmetic TLC. On reflection these a minor issues in relation to the quality of my stay.

The room was splendid, the bed comfortable (though broken, which I reported; it didn't worry me because I was alone and didn't have to sleep on that side), the bath large enough and with plenty of good hot water. The breakfasts that I had were excellent; I can't speak for any other meal since I was at an event in the Hilton at the NEC all day and evening. Every member of the staff with whom I spoke was friendly, cheerful and efficient; first-rate service!

The central light was very dim and there was no bedside light, but it turned off at a switch by the bed so was not too inconvenient, though impossible to read by. I was a little taken aback not to have been told either when I booked or when I signed in that breakfast would not be available on the last morning of my stay, especially since I paid for it in advance on arrival at the hotel; it seemed as if communication had broken down a little. I did appreciate being rung on the afternoon before my last night and warned about it, though! And I was given a refund for the breakfast that I didn't have.

I enjoyed my recent stay at the Strawberry Bank Hotel. The staff were all very friendly and helpful, my room and bathroom were clean with usual tv and tea making facilities provided, all bedlinen and towels were clean and spotless and what I would expect from any hotel. I was very happy with the breakfast buffet offering and it was a pleasant start to the day to sit breakfasting while looking out to the garden and fields beyond. Some public areas may have showed signs of wear and tear in a few places, however at the exceptionally reasonable price charged for the room, this was not an issue since I could have stayed for only a single night at the NEC Premier Inn for the three night's I stayed at the Strawberry Bank, so for me it's a no brainer. Conveniently located on a bus route to the NEC, I'll be returning to the Strawberry Bank next time I attend an event at the NEC.

Location was ideal and the bathroom was clean. The gardens were kept to a very high standard and the view from the restaurant was beautiful. The hot breakfast was tasty and had a great selection but could of been a bit warmer.

The hotel was tired looking, TV signal was awful and the beds were not very comfortable as in creaky and the mattress dipped on the one side. Staff looked a bit fed up and breakfast service was a bit lacking in being topped up and kept clean and tidy. It doesn't give a great first impression with mouldy bananas and no milk for our tea, we had to keep asking for things like bread, side plates and milk.

Great location for my event at the National Conference Center so 3 miles and 6 mins drive. Hotel check staff very efficient and polite, helpful and friendly. Room good size, clean, decent size bathroom and comfortable bed. All on all Great value for the money.

Room I could emagine might get stuffy because it faced west so the previous week where it was in the low 30's might have been uncomfortable because no fan in the room but they may have them for people who requested but not applicable for my stay. Pub was OK, but choice of menu perhaps might be limited for some people.

I liked the garden view and large expanse of greenery seen from my window. The rooms are clean and tidy. The staff were warm and friendly especially the senior lady at the front desk/reception. She made me feel instantly at home with her congeniality. Overall, the hotel exceeded my expectations from the pictures I saw online. The hotel is treasure cove nestled in the beautiful countryside of Meriden. I will be back....that's a promise! Cheers Sam

What's there not to like? The room was good. The meal was good. The garden was good. The staff were good. I loved it!

Evening meal was lovely, value for money and the drinks weren't expensive. Breakfast was sufficient for our needs.

I did mention to reception on our departure that one thing wasn't acceptable, and the receptionist knew what I was going to say. Toilet paper!! cheap, thin, single layer, you end up using more as it disintegrated. We had better quality in Mexico, which was a surprise. Not much to ask but its the little things that make a difference. The hotel accommodation do with a spruce up, it let's the bar and restaurant down as they look smart and modern.

Breakfast was included in the price, and it was very nice. The room was very clean, shower was nice and hot. We ate in the restaurant at strawberry banks and again the food was good and a good price. The garden was lovely, had it been summer I would have sat outside to eat. But a bit too cold in November. All the staff was very nice and very helpful.

We had a centre light in the room but there was no switch anywhere to turn it on, so had to make do with the bedside lights. The restaurant also was very dark for breakfast and evening meals.The walls were thin, we watched the TV one night as we didn't go out, but someone complained about the noise to the staff and we were asked to turn it down. We are not a noisy couple just a bit deaf. But on the whole we had a nice couple of days break. And we would go back.

The biggest benefit to me was being only 4 miles or so from the NEC - less than 15 minutes from the show, but at a reasonable price. In essence, this is a country pub hotel - food was good, staff were all very helpful and chatty; the hotel had everything you need. The front of the hotel is on a fairly busy main road; the back has open fields with sheep.

Unfortunately, I'd asked for a quiet room, but booked late, so the only one available got noisy early in the morning - I had an OK night's sleep however, so not so bad.

Dinner and breakfast was superb. All staff are very friendly and helpful. The room, while being fairly plain in decor, had everything I needed. Plenty of water pressure for a good shower!

The view from the room (on the ground floor) was unfortunately right onto the pub garden, which meant there really was no privacy and I could not leave the curtain open. Ground floor rooms overlook either the pub garden or the car park. One could always try to request a first floor room...
