Breakfast was good and pub offered lovely food at a very reasonable price. Staff were very friendly. I booked as needed to be accessible to Birmingham but didn't want to drive into city centre - train station a few minutes walk and 2 stops from Birmingham New Street - so perfect. Parking at station also free. Unfortunately there was a train strike so had to use a taxi for one trip, but that was fine.

All good - but for anyone with limited mobility, the stairs are very steep inside (its a period building, so can't be helped) but there is an external metal staircase. The free wifi could be a little temperamental.

The room was very clean, the bed very comfortable, the shower lovely and hot (once I had worked out how to use it), the bedding and towels were lovely quality, the room was on ground level which was great for me, difficulty with stairs. The breakfast was delicious.

The hand basin in the bathroom was very small, but due to the size of the bathroom couldn't be any bigger, unable to fill the kettle used a cup, TV not working when I checked the remote there was only one battery, it required two.

Superb location for NEC, World Resorts Arena and Birmingham city centre. 5 min walk to train station, 3 min journey to Bham international station. Beautiful quaint village location with good amenities all within walking distance. Friendly warm atmosphere in pub. It was tastefully decorated for the festive season. We had dinner there. Both our meals were obviously all home cooked and absolutely mouthwatering delicious. Breakfast included in overnight stay price. Would highly recommend as an alternative to the big chain hotels. Thank you we will return

Breakfast was lovely, the staff were really friendly and the room was great. The bed was very comfy, if the shower a bit tight. It was quite cold, but the weather was poor.

The shower was a bit tight to get into room 10 and the door didnt shut very well, and it was quite cold when you got out the shower, not that it bothered me much, but might bother others

Wonderful querky pub with a relaxed feel. The food for evening meal and breakfast was excellent. Communication was outstanding both before and during the stay and the hosts were very friendly. The location was perfect for our visit to the NEC. Beds and duvets were comfortable.

Wifi was available but rather slow at times so not ideal for anyone needing to work in the evening, but ideal for anyone just needing to check emails/social media. Pillows need to be checked as some need replacing to ensure guests can enjoy the best possible night's sleep, but is an easy fix.

Noisy (music, people sat in beer garden ) until closing time. Not a moan as i was prepared for this since I had obviously booked at a pub, but something to be aware of if you are planning an early night. However, the positives far outweighed this minor point for me and I would stay again.

The location was perfect for visiting Birmingham with the train station 5 minutes walk. The pub was cozy and very friendly atmosphere, staff are exceptional and go out of their way to make your stay comfortable. A good choice of traditional pub food was available in the evening and was exceptionally tasty. Breakfast was included in the price and there was a good selection on the menu. Comfy beds and good facilities.

The room was a little on the small size and some attention to hoovering needed, the bathroom is a challenge especially in the middle of the night, a bit of overhead aircraft noise but nothing to detract from the value and overall stay.

Just perfect for a trip to the NEC/airport; we found the staff friendly with an old fashioned comfortable feel to the property that set us at ease. They were wonderful with the hounds (always a good sign) and made us smile. Just thinking about it males me smile. Next time round we'll book an extra night in advance as they were fully booked and we couldn't extend our stay.

Location was great. Good and drinks were exceptional. Staff brilliant ... Service great. The pub was well laid out and guests fitted in well with locals. The stairs were a challenge after a pint or two of the excellent hand pulled Ales but a great overall experience. Thanks to Fanfan and Chris for leading such a friendly team.... Breakfast choice was great .... Book and you won't be disappointed..

For a short starvation really it was a perfect base... Close to Birmingham.. Warwick and Coventry.... A bit of overhead aircraft noise but nothing to detract from our over all stay

The manager was very accommodating, he couldn’t do enough for us. We told him we had to leave early the next morning and he prepared us a takeaway breakfast. The room itself was nice. The room has been kept as authentic as possible in terms of how old the pub is, which was nice, yet the bathroom was incredibly modern with a nice shower.

As a man of 6 ft 3, I felt I had to duck everywhere whilst moving around the corridors, but to be expected from an old pub haha. I did ask for an iron but it seemed as though they didn’t have one / couldn’t find one. Not a deal breaker but I’d suggest buying one as there’s a wedding venue across the road which I imagine guests that stay there stay to attend weddings there (like we did).
