The Lions is easy to find and there was no problem with parking. The hosts are very friendly and attentive and we were made very welcome. This lovely 200 year old house has been superbly and sympathetically renovated and the garden is beautiful. Our rooms were very well equipped and comfortable - just what we needed after a gruelling 4 and 1/2 hour drive. There were plenty of breakfast options. Our breakfasts were generous, beautifully and well prepared, and served with a personal touch that made us feel special.

There is really nothing very negative to say. There are no ground floor rooms but we had our 92 year old mum with us and she managed the stairs easily. We had to go out for our evening meal and apart from one local pub (where the food was good, actually) there was nowhere else easily walkable for mum. However, there are lots of venues in and around Newark town centre only a short journey away. So if you are able or mobile the location of the Lions is not really a problem.

Everything. The beautiful period building, the wonderfully friendly and attentive host John & Pablo, the comfortable bed, the great shower and the amazing breakfast in the stunning English country garden! This place and the hosts are A* - we were made to feel so welcome and can't wait to visit again! We only wished we had more time to enjoy being there but we're staying for an event nearby, we could have sat in the garden chatting all day!

Nothing! We couldn't fault a single thing! We usually stay in hotel chains, and was unsure what to expect in a B&B but we were delighted! John & Pablo really go the extra mile to give you a lovely memorable stay. We will be back next year!

What a fantastic welcoming and stay. Both Pablo and John made us feel so at ease and relaxed in their beautiful home. On arrival we were invited to join them for a glass of wine with a couple of their friends and family in an exquisite garden full of flower. We travel on a regular basis often using hotels and B&Bs throughout the year, but this must be one of the most delightful places we have ever stayed in. The finishing touches, attention to detail and divine breakfast, served to us in their garden on our request, made our stay so special and one to remember.

Nothing.

Everything, especially our Hosts Pablo and John who were extremely good at creating a calm atmosphere in a relaxing luxury environment. The large room was perfect and spotlessly clean with high-end quality bedding and furniture. The house is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean. The freshly cooked breakfast was pretty much unbeatable on all accounts, a freshly made fruit salad starter laid out on a platter was presented as you would expect in a high end restaurant, followed by a fabulous English Breakfast. Yes, we would ask to stay at the Lions before looking elsewhere when next in the area.

There was nothing we didn't like about The Lions.

Immaculately clean (the cleanest place we’ve probably ever stayed! Not a speck of dust) and beautifully decorated & comfortable Georgian property. Pablo and John couldn’t be more welcoming and helpful, we were running late for a wedding and didn’t know the area/taxi companies so Pablo booked us a taxi that showed up straight away without us even needing to ask and even lent us some cash in case they didn’t take card! Quiet and relaxing vibe even with it being on a main road so we were able to get a good nights sleep. Breakfast was lovely and we are so so glad we chose to stay at this lovely place with such wonderful hosts over the naff big chain premier inn where most other wedding guests stayed!

The shower was red hot and neither of us could figure out how to turn it down! Still better than being freezing cold and only having a little freshen up before short drive home so it really wasn’t the end of the world and workable :)

It was lovely to stay in a B&B where the owners genuinely enjoy running their business. The garden is wonderful and available for guests to use, you can also order drinks to enjoy in the garden, lounge area or bedroom. The breakfast included home made jams using fruit from the garden. A short walk into the centre of town and to the fantastic Civil War Museum; the Aircraft Museum is a short drive away, so plenty to do. Owners let us park our motorbike in the garden for security, 1st class service, nothing was too much trouble.

Really lovely house, great garden, which we were free to enjoy. Our bedroom was excellent with huge en suite bathroom and truly comfortable bed. To say our hosts were welcoming does scant justice: from first to last they made us feel we had chosen the right place to stay. Friendship is extended, and so those who stay are friendly towards each other. Very relaxing in the rose garden evening sun An excellent breakfast in the morning warmth was an apt way to end our stay.

Absolute gem of a find. Gorgeous property with stunning period features, so tastefully decorated. We stayed in the superior room with the biggest on-suit I've ever seen. Everything from the bathrobes and bath salts to the luxury bedding was perfect.Such attention to detail. Welcome glass of wine each and the best salmon and scrabbled egg we've ever had! What wonderful friendly hosts you were. Will book another gig at Newark theatre purely to stay here again. We travel a lot and stay in a variety of accommodation. The Lions is right up there with the best. Thank you

The only disappointment was not staying longer!

The host's were incredibly friendly and helpful. Even though they were obviously busy, they still found time to be very charming. The room and building were so clean and comfortable. The breakfast was delicious and plentiful. The price is more than reasonable I've paid alot more for way less than this in the past.

We only had the opportunity to stay for one night. I'm sat here trying to think of something to say about what i didn't like but am really struggling. The guys gave me a little history on how they came to own and renovated the property and all the hard work that went in to achieving what they now have and it really shows. Well done guys and hope to see you both again soon.

We adored our stay at the lions b&b! I stayed here with my fiancé and bridesmaids for two nights, We stumbled across the place quite randomly when looking for accommodation in the Newark area pre-wedding and so please we did. John and Pablo were incredibly welcoming and went out of their way to make us feel at home, serving us a nightcap in the lounge, and the most delicious breakfast in the morning. (With homemade marmalade from the garden!) The rooms are finished to a really high standard and decorated tastefully. The king sized bed was really comfy and I slept wonderfully. The attention to detail and personal touches made our stay so memorable and we’ll be back in a heartbeat next time we’re in the area. Really can’t recommend the place enough, they’re also very lovely and really interesting to chat to which is another added bonus.
