The Red House Guest House

Beautiful period property! We arrived early and Estella was helpful and let us have the room to get ready in for the wedding we were attending. The room was clean bright and had coffe tea and bottles of water . Although it was not on suit we had a private bathroom and this worked really well. There was shower gel… shampoo… conditioner too! We enjoyed a sound nights sleep! Breakfast was plentiful! Range of cereals.. yoghurts and made to order hot food. Estella was a lovely host! And the general man who was cleaning the room was friendly and welcoming. All in all… a gem! We would definitely stay again. Thank you! Tina and Adrian

We are pork free but there were no alternatives such as chicken/ turkey / vegetarian sausages.

The B&B was easy to find on the main street. Very Warm and friendly host. Lovely clean warm room with a kettle and tea/coffee sachets and a pkt of biscuits. The shower was lovely and hot and didn't lose pressure at all. It provides breakfast, but unfortunately i didn't have it due to going to work early... I would definitely stay here again when I'm working at the hospital...🙂

Not didn't like, if i have to say what i would prefer, i would like the shower room a bit bigger, as it was a tight squeeze. (Understandable though to fit in the room) and I'm claustrophobic so maybe it was just me !!! 😊

Well situated for Grantham Town centre. It made eating out in the evening an easy walking distance. The Red House isn't boutique style but this is reflected in the price. However there is a friendly greeting on arrival, the room was warm and comfortable and spotlessly clean. Would definitely stay again if we are in the Grantham area

Some might find the traffic an issue as the Red House is on the main road into town but this does go quiet during the night so wasn't a problem for us. We still had a good night's sleep.

The abiding memory that I will take away from my night's stay at the Red House in Grantham is the warm and friendly customer service provided by two Philippine ladies the hosts at the guest house; just the awesome service. The historic house is can be found on the edge of the town centre and provided guests with an excellent place to stay, within easy reach of the shops, bars and restaurants in the town centre, although the railway station is a thirty-minute walk away or a seven pounds in a taxi. Room 5 had a comfortable double bed with excellent linen, the television was ok but the Wi-FI was brilliant. The room had a comfortable chair and a nice outlook over the rear garden. The private bathroom was close by across the landing, it was very compact and difficult to use, if honest, requires some renovation. Did not have time for breakfast but it looked good. Awesome place to stay and highly recommended.

The Red House itself was a lovely listed building, that always makes things a little quirky, which we liked! Lovely, clean room with the private bathroom a short 2 steps across the landing. Our host was a lovely lady who cooked a great breakfast.

There was nothing to not like really, we were there for 2 nights for a wedding nearby and it provided a good base for that. Everything was to a good standard with friendly people.

I had a ground floor double room with en-suit facilities in the annex about 2 mins walk away from the main rooms. The room was larger that I had expected, but as, it was at the front of the house noise could have been a problem, the owners had fitted secondary double glazing so this was not a problem! Breakfast (£8.50) was excellent with cereals, toast and a full English being served. OJ, tea and coffee was freely availible. The member of staff I met could not do enough for me and remembered my name throughout and that I had stayed before.

Parking could have been, but was not, a problem. On both nights I was able to park outside the Guest House. Being on the ground floor and at the front meant keeping the curtains closed for privacy and the secondary DG prevent fresh air circulation as the windows had no secure, partial opening. I just slept with the window open as the outside did have a spiked fence around the front! This is only my thoughts but the bed was too soft for me, but another guest with the same mattress stated he loved it, some you win others not!

Good location within walking distance of town centre. Room was clean and quiet. There is public parking right outside the hotel and we had no problems getting a space. Staff were friendly and helpful once at the hotel. They provided a vegan option for breakfast which was appreciated.

Rooms are listed as having a private bathroom but some of these are outside the room and not private at all. This is only mentioned after booking. I would never book a room with an external bathroom and I didn't appreciate being put in this position. I messaged the property repeatedly before arrival to try to sort this out but was completely ignored. Once on site it was resolved fairly quickly and we were given a bedroom with an ensuite bathroom. However, I'd have preferred to have it sorted before arrival and think the listing should be more accurate - why not just put 'external bathroom' so that it's clear.

The Lady in charge was very friendly and helpful . I am having some mobility problems at the moment and she was very concerned when I found the stairs difficult and we had taken the last room so could not move . She very kindly moved us to a ground floor room for the second night, which was much appreciated . We enjoyed our stay and were very comfortable.

I was allocated a room at The Albany Guest House, an annexe to The Red House. It was a little tired but reasonable value for the price paid and I was happy and comfortable there. Everything was clean and tidy and Stella, the staff member who booked me in, was very kind and friendly.

My only issue is that the electric sockets were all at floor level and there was nowhere to safely plug in the kettle. I had to balance it on the corner of the mini fridge, which was under the shelf holding the microwave and kettle. It would not take much to move the sockets above the shelf so that everything could be accessed easily and safely.

A lovely, small B&B close to the centre of Grantham. A very nicely furnished, quiet room with a comfy bed. The lady who checked me in was super nice and very helpful. For the room I booked, the private bathroom was across the corridor, but this was clearly advertised and absolutely fine. Very good value.

A very minor issue, but a second towel would be very welcome in the bathroom.
