A great find, loved the location and the dedicated parking. The room was comfortable and clean it had everything you needed to enjoy a short break.The view of the barges and boats passing through the lock was entertaining. Seating was available outside(within the boundary) and further benches just by the lock. Good position for access to the town a short walk away. Handy little micropub tucked away in the courtyard and a restaurant next door serving a variety of great food (there was a discount voucher for it in the room) at good prices. All in all, it's a quiet spot, and we would definitely stay again.

We loved the quirky décor and uniqueness of the rooms. Each room is different, and ours had really well thought out touches in lovely colours. It was also surprisingly quiet at night, and we loved sitting in the comfy chairs by the window watching the lock being opened, with a cuppa and a book. There were no facilities for eating at this venue (which we knew in advance) so took recommendations from a local shop, which were very good - The Lord Rupert pub for dinner, and Gannets for breakfast, both extremely nearby. Newark has amazing architecture, but we were sad that it is clearly suffering from economic struggles. This was a really good place to stop en route from Yorkshire to home in Surrey, after our holiday, and was a charming place to end our holiday.

The bathroom was a good size and we really liked the taps which kind of looked like a bubbling stream. We had a bit of a fight with the shower, and a bath was tricky as the plug didn't stay in. We're not that tall, but if you are, the sloping ceiling might be a bit hazardous.

Really nice room, comfortable beds and modern bathroom. The building overlooks the canal at the front and Its away from the road at the back so its really quiet. Its just a short walk to the main street where there are pubs and cafes. There are no staff on site so you enter using a keypad system, which worked fine as you get good instructions in advance. But you are also sent a contact number and email in case of any issues. Definitely would stay again.

The whole process was seamless and perfect. The property was perfect, beautifully decorated, with a lovely new bathroom. I would 100% recommend and we will definitely be back! Perfectly situated but quiet, because it's down by the lock/canal, right beside a pub but is wasn't noisy. Perfect for a stay in this area

Nothing, nothing could have been better apart from the 27 degree heat BUT there was an amazing fan in the room which meant staying here at any time of the year in any temperature would be perfect!

These are beautiful and super clean rooms. Very comfy and in an ideal location with free parking. Situated on the canal, near to the castle and a short walk to the town centre. Even though it is next door to the pub it is very quite, would happily stay again

Unfortunately we couldn't open any of the windows apart from the bathroom one and the time we were there we had hot weather. Luckily we were able to prop open the door to the rooms and the main door so got an airflow through. Please be aware that there is no kitchen facilities which we did know about, there is a kettle so be prepared to eat out.

The building overlooks the river & the canal locks. The situation is idyllic. We had a front facing room looking on to the river. Despite crowds of people come to observe the boats passing through the locks our room was very quiet. Our room was well-served with tea & coffee facilities. The cafe next to the Riverside Rooms served excellent coffee and cakes as well as tea & sandwiches. We were given very good directions to the riverside Rooms which enabled us to find the place without difficulty. Each room has a parking spot adjacent to the building.

The rooms are decorated very tastefully with quality fixtures and fittings. The room was very quiet, warm and comfortable. None of the upper rooms have a wall onto another room so inter-room noise is minimal to non-existent. We found the entry system to be easy to use and the view of the canal was lovely. We had breakfast in the "Feeling Peckish" just across the road which was excellent and a meal in the Swan and Salmon that was also excellent. There is ample space between cars in the allocated parking spaces and the property is in a perfect location on the canal but also in the town with lots of pubs and eateries close by. Toni has been very responsive to deal with and answered all my questions including about the pubs in the area. In summary I would highly recommend Riverside Rooms and would return in a heartbeat.

No negatives for me other than I wish I had stayed longer

Breakfast wasn't available but there were a good range of eateries on the doorstep, plenty to choose from and Toni recommended a couple. The location was lovely, very relaxing and as a history lover, I loved the quirkiness of The Riverside Rooms and interest of the building, and nearby historic buildings and attractions. The room had a nice view of the locks.

Not the easiest place to find but Toni gave good directions and after that I found it easily. The only problem I had was the key code entry system. After a few attempts I still couldn't enter and had to ring Toni who promptly answered and I had access.

We really liked the location of the property. The interior of the three rooms we booked was very stylish.

The instructions for accessing the property were not clear, in that you had to press star after entering the code to access the building. it would have been helpful to know this. This might have just been us, but we were unable to find the Wi-Fi code for Room 2. It would have been helpful to have a welcome pack with this included or a message from the owner with these details.

It was a cute & quaint room with good view over the newark lock. The tea bar was very well stocked and there was everything you'd need for a short stay. We really enjoyed our little break in newark and the cafe, gannets, that was suggested was very tasty! I would recommend this place :)

The bathroom was slanted on one side and there was very little room to move around, especially in the shower.
