Quail Lodge & Golf Club

The hotel ground is beautiful, room was nice and clean. The hotel staff was friendly and very helpful. We got to the hotel late and I got hungry after midnight, called the front desk asking for microwave and their security guard brought one within 10 minutes, this was around 1:30AM, I really appreciate that. I would stay here again but would avoid eating here at their on site restaurant at all cost because the food was terrible.

My girlfriend and I tried eating lunch at one of the restaurants on site (we woke up late and didn't want to waste time driving out to lunch and making multiple stops). The lunch was terrible. I order the burger medium but it was cooked well to well done, their clam chowder was watery and lacking much flavor. My girlfriend ordered a quesadilla. We both ate only until we were no longer hungry and left about half of the food unfinished. Probably the worst tasting burger I have had in the last several years.

Beautiful property - room was unique with the high ceilings and window seat, plus the private sitting area outside. Our favorite was the Covey Grill dinner and outdoor seating by the lake.

Wish our room had a view of either the lake or the golf course, but those rooms weren't available. The feather pillows were wonderful, but there was only 1 per bed, so had to separately request more feather pillows. They were delivered promptly when requested - no issues there!

Celebrated my 60th at Quail Lodge and Gold Club. We had Deluxe rooms overlooking the pond. The rooms were immaculate and cleaned every day well! The beds are super comfortable, and the rooms have plenty of space. I was welcomed with a bottle of wine for my birthday, and there is a wine hour from 3-4. The location is great as it is quiet and peaceful, in the beautiful countryside, but 10 minutes from Ocean Ave and easy to get to Big Sur. The staff checked in via text several times to ask if we needed anything. The pool was heated and very nice, exercise room was adequate with free weights and some cardio machines. They have lovely fire pits throughout the property that are great for evening conversations. Parking was plentiful and free. We ate at the golf club house for lunch and it was great, did not eat dinner at the resort, as we were in Carmel most days. Service is awesome!

As I said, all four of us said the beds are super comfortable, but they could use some softer pillows, so you might want to bring one if you can. Also, the patio furniture in one of the rooms needed to be refinished, ours had been redone and was very nice. Booking.com says all fees included, but we did have an additional 30 per night that was a county fee - so keep that in mind.

The resort is very beautiful, all green grass and lovely pink roses. The bed is one of the most comfortable hotel beds I have ever tried. The mattress is on the firm side and beddings are very comfortable. Room is clean and elegant. We went there on a weekday for vacation, only few guests there. Our family enjoyed the pool and the golf putting course by ourselves and do not need to share it with other people. It is a good experience. Even for the complimentary putting course, the grass is well maintained. Our toddler really loves the heated pool. If I stay in the Carmel Serra again, I will definitely return to this resort.

There is no dinner on the day we arrived.

Everything was great! Staff was super friendly and helpful. Our room was spacious. Restaurant was good. Really enjoyed the little workout rooms. Super clean and loved the poolside/golf view while working out. Breakfast at the Wagon Wheel across the street was fantastic!

Would have enjoyed a better view for the price point. The French doors leading to the little patio outside of our room were filthy. Couldn't even see out of them. Don't think they've ever been cleaned. Nice size space, but decor on the dreary side.

It is a beautiful property with lovely amenities- the food in the newly re-opened restaurant was amazing, just wish it was open throughout the day (was closed for lunch on Saturday). We really enjoyed spending time on their fabulous 9 hole putting course!

Front desk staff could use more training on the seemingly complicated reservation system…

We loved the comfort of our room along with the TV and bathroom. The bed is extremely comfortable and the patio was nice. When I requested a couple towels from a maid nearby, she even gave us some water.

There is no microwave and the shower is quite small. There should also be a bridge that leads to the lobby and restaurant. It was also inconvenient for dinner to be closed for Monday and Tuesday. However I do understand that the restaurant's kitchen was undergoing some maintenance.

Staff are extremely helpful and kind. The property is clean and kept in immaculate condition. The grounds are huge and beautiful to walk around. We brought are dog with us and found it perfect for him. The front desk even had doggy treats for him at check-in, a lovely touch. Location is great too. It’s perfect for day trips to different towns (Carmel, Monterey etc.) as you can drive to most in <25 mins. Also a great Mexican restaurant 1 min walk from the hotel.

it was very well maintained and clean. And extremely peaceful and quiet.

It’s hard to find what I didn’t like. If I had to complain to myself, there are two things. 1) There isn’t a hot tub. The pool is great and warm, but a hot tub would top it off nicely. 2) It’s a tad overpriced. I get it, Carmel isn’t cheap, I grew up around there, but, it’s a few miles from downtown/beach and is generally more expensive than those in downtown, closer to the beach with equivalent quality. With that said, the peacefulness and a very quiet property is justifiably worth the premium.

The room was discounted online.

It was disappointing to hear at check-in that there was a charge of $150 for the “pet-friendly” room. No mention of this online, no mention of this when I called reception before booking the room to confirm our dog could stay in the room. I have stayed at luxury resorts that allowed pets but this is the first time I’ve been charged $150 for a single night’s stay. This has left a negative impression of our stay.
