Le Petit Pali at 8th Ave

Amazing location right in the heart of downtown Carmel. Hotel is adorable - we sadly missed the wine hour but love it as an amenity. Rooms were clean and nicely decorated - made it feel homey. Front desk staff were super nice and helpful. The coffee and breakfast in am were a nice touch!

The room is a bit on the smaller size but it works for two people. Also, not sure if this is feature throughout all rooms but the bathroom door isn’t a real door - it’s a sliding barn door like one which does affect privacy if you aren’t staying with significant other.

Beautifully designed property, they have taken an existing motel & completely re done it. Easy walking location to anything in the town & the beach. Good in room amenities: Diptyque toiletries, Marvis toothpaste etc.

Staff clearly need training and/or more experience, almost every interaction we had was a miss - the breakfast server was absent, the check in person was on his phone with AirPods in, etc. Bedding could also do with an upgrade - sheets were scratchy, pillows were flat & lump. Was not in line with the level of room experience.

Great location with parking on the ground. Nice terrace. Extra coffee available. Room interior is nice and the fire place was a plus. Enough space in the closet. Great shower products.

Expensive for the quality and experience delivered. Rooms not soundproof. You can hear very well what’s going on in your neighboring rooms. Facing directly the parking lot not optimal as one looks directly from the window to the cars = noisy as well as some customers idle their cars for longer time. Breakfast selection card was a bit confusing, so only part os the breakfast delivered. For a better experience, the front desk staff should pay attention not being too arrogant.

Cozy, beautiful rooms in perfect location. Breakfast had limited choice, but was of good quality.

First night we had rooms downstairs near the stairs, and were kept up late at night and again woken at 5 am by noisy neighbors. The floors/ceiling are super thin and we heard every step. We cha ged rooms upstairs and away from the stairs which solved this issue. The rooms have very little storage for luggage. Showers in all four rooms were a more drizzle.

Breakfast was terrible especially at this price point. I was told that they usually have buffet but because of covid this could not be done, but in the evening they did have a wine reception with a spread so which is it. I literaly received a hard boiled egg in a bag nothing else for it. And a mini croissant in a bag . Was told they did not have butter or jam

Amazing attention to detail with the French accents and decor!!! The French Pastries that were awaiting our arrival were a perfect welcome and absolutely darling!! The crisp, embroidered sheets and the finely crafted bed frame and headboard with the beautiful tapestry-like fabric that matched the lovely valances!! The tea set in the rooms and the lovely breakfast offerings and its presentation were priceless. The charming Mimosas were a delight to the palette. I loved seeing the darling bicycles on-site!

Parking

Loved everything about the hotel! They thought of every detail in the rooms and on site. Bikes & beach chairs, breakfast, wine & cheese, cookies delivered to the rooms, every amenity you could imagine in the rooms such as robe, slippers, in room coffee with China cups & saucers, a hair dryer, steamer and straightener! I’m addition, the room was stocked with wine, beer and cokes in glass bottles! Cannot say enough about this lovely hotel. I will be returning!

The room was clean, bed was comfy, proximity to restaurants, and the beach all ideal. Our plan was never to get in our car for 24 hrs once we parked it and we succeeded. The staff were very VERY warm and friendly! I would say some of the nicest people in Carmel, truly. Loved having breakfast delivered to our room! I do wish that they would have some of the local varieties like Dutch Door Donuts as a way to also showcase their neighbors. We weren't that satisfied with the bread/pastry offering so we went out in search of something else and found DutchDoor across the street not even a block away. Best Donut I've ever had.

The noise at our room. I do understand this is a renovated place but man... the noise was insane. We heard every cough, scream, giggle and fart being near the street like that. Definitely regretting not changing rooms. Additionally, while the room was spottless, I did find an earring back in our made bed which caused me to question whether they even changed the sheets from the previous guests. Lastly, the bathroom door. Instead of being a regular door, its a bsrn door that doesnt fully cover so theres not much privacy when using the restroom. Even after 6 years of marriage, I still prefer to go in private.

Excelsior location, cleanliness & complimentary wine and cheese buffet during evening.

Room rather small with relatively few amenities e.g. for hanging clothes. Staff not particularly welcoming

Location was excellent: close to downtown, one block from Ocean Ave and at the "top" of this street. Only about ten short blocks to bottom of Ocean adjacent to beach. Room was attractive. Breakfast adequate albeit coffee was atrocious, not drinkable!
