Candle Light Inn

This is a hidden gem. The inn really doesn't look like much from the outside, but when we opened the door to our room, my jaw dropped. It's easily the most beautiful hotel room we've ever seen in terms of the decor. Very elegant. The furnishings are a step above what you expect from a hotel room, which are usually pretty generic. The bed is like climbing into a cloud - very upscale bedding and just super-comfy. The location is perfect - easy walking distance to pretty much everything in downtown Carmel-by-the-Sea and to the beach. The staff is wonderful, and there are fresh baked complimentary cookies in the lobby every day, along with a nice firepit where we sat in the evenings with a glass of wine.

The only (minor) con was the shower in our room. The shower head comes out of the wall at a height where, at 5'8", I had to do a semi squat like I was sitting down in a chair in order to wash my hair. I can't imagine anyone taller being able to comfortably shower in there. Maybe other rooms have a different configuration, though?

The room was beautiful and clean and the fireplace was the perfect touch. The bathroom was so nice and spacious and the jet tub was fun. They thought of everything 2 luggage holders in the closet and real wine glasses with bottle , real coffee mugs with creamers. They had the lights on with music playing in our room when we arrived it was so nice. The location was excellent to our dinner restaurant and our breakfast spot. The staff was super friendly and they had flashlights and a lantern in the room just in case of the power went due to the storm and it did but it came back on quickly.

Everything was wonderful...However if I had to say one thing I would want them to fix was the door to the room. The door did not have weather stripping so when the Storm came in so did the wind. You could feel the wind through the door and it whistled liked a tea kettle all night long.

We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay at Candlelight Inn. I'm very discerning when booking accommodation and I research extensively, and we were very happy. The room was very ambient and spacious, it was very clean with comfortable beds, convenient parking right outside the door and a lovely outdoor fire in the evening. Reception staff were friendly and free cookies were offered. It was a lovely stroll into town for dinner, shopping and breakfast. I would highly recommend this property.

Bathrooms were tiny, which didn't bother us for just one night. A small price to pay for an otherwise terrific property.

This was our first visit to Carmel. The location of the Candle Light Inn is fantastic. Walking distance to everything. Parking was onsite (very convenient) and included in the cost of the room, which is lovely for Carmel where on-street parking is tough. The room was very stylish, the bed and seating area were extremely comfortable, the bathroom was spacious. The little sitting area on the front balcony was also lovely. Our room was located upstairs, and it was very quiet (minus the 6am seagulls, but that's to be expected). The room was SPOTLESSLY clean. Chandler at the front desk was extremely friendly and helpful. Access to Pebble Beach/17 Mile Drive and the Point Lobos Natural Reserve was effortless. We highly recommend a stay at the Candle Light Inn!

No dislikes at all!

The size of the room was large. I didn’t realize there would be such a nice sitting area. All of the furnishings were well appointed and I moved right in by using the dresser drawers. I liked the window coverings of large-blade shutters which gave options for light or dark. Besides the bathroom with shower, there was a completely separate room with with deep spa tub (which I didn’t use). The towels were fantastic and robes were provided which I found unusual for a motel/inn but nice to have. The weather ranged from hot to cold on the trip but one day I was able to use the fireplace. One small complaint is that they are not offering a continental breakfast with covid as excuse but I have stayed at other Carmel properties where a basket is brought to the room each morning. There was a coffee maker in the room. I would defiantly stay again and recommend.

The staff was very nice, courteous, friendly, accommodating and has very good customer service. We had an issue with our fireplace not working. They immediately took action and was very responsive. Our room was so quiet, cozy, updated and clean. The outside fireplace was so cool. We drank our wine and relaxed there after a long day of walking around. The location is great with so many good restaurants within walking distance.

The doors. Some neighbors would slam their doors early in the morning and woke us up several times. Its no big deal but maybe the management can look into how to minimize guests from being able to slam those doors. Also, the seagulls, their loud! Just kidding about the seagulls.

Location! Room had wonderful bedding and such comfortable beds! It was very clean!

The shower head was placed too low! I'm 5ft 8 inch and I had to stand with knees bent. I think they should install a shower head on a tail system to elevate the shower head itself since the hole for the plumbing sits already in the wall and it's low.

We visit Carmel often. Quirky hotels abound and at this price point this exceeded our expectations. This is a well renovated hotel in a great location in the heart of Carmel by the Sea. the room was graceful, timeless, quiet and romantic with thick, lush bedding, a separate spa tub, fireplace(electris) and TV. We will return for sure.

Great location to the main area of Carmel by the Sea and the beaches. Staff is very friendly. They have fresh baked cookies at check in and checkout. They were very helpful mailing me my AirPods when I accidentally left it in the room. Highly recommend for a quick visit

The room was awesome. It was great that when I opened the door it was a feeling of oh yeah this is nice compared to just okay. Everything was nice and clean and big too, a fireplace in the room. There was also a fire pit they had lit until 10 at night every night and also fresh made cookies. Would come back, maybe not during the dead of summer as there was no ac in the room. But Thanksgiving weekend was perfect weather.

Everything was great.
