Best Western Plus Dana Point Inn-by-the-Sea

What an absolutely amazing experience we had staying here -- We were visiting because my elderly cousin was sick and she wanted to go visit the ocean. The staff here was so incredibly helpful and kind with our unique experience. They literally catered to our every whim and were very helpful with local suggestions. The room was huge, and the (FREE!) breakfast was sooooo yummy we couldn't get enough. The beach is right across the street and the parking garage was very easy to get into and out of. Cannot recommend this place more! You will literally feel like you're being treated like family.

Exceptional staff. They could not be more accommodating. We ended up changing rooms- we had a beachfront view and deck. Unfortunately, all of the rooms around us had smokers out on the deck (it is a non-smoking hotel), so we couldn't enjoy the view. We asked to be moved to a different room and we ended up in the room with the spa tub. It was so quiet and peaceful. The views from the hotel are amazing and it is a short walk to the beach. Hotel offers parking. They also have microwaves and fridges in each of the rooms.

That there were smokers in a non-smoking hotel. The bathrooms were a bit small. We moved to the spa tub room and the spa would come on but not stay on- it seems like it needs a bit of maintenance.

The hotel is located just across from the ocean, it is very well kept and the room we had was wonderful, clean, a very comfortable bed and we had the best sleep since we are on the road in 10 days. The lady at the check in was very friendly and helped us to park our Jeep with a roof rack on top in the garage. We had a nice breakfast and after returning to our room the key did not work anymore. The housekeeping lady noticed this and tried to help us, she called the lady from the check in and she was here to help within a minute. Wonderful staff, could not be any better.

The owners were amazing. when we checked in seeing that my wife had a walker upgraded us to top floor with ocean view right next to elevator. The first morning I asked questions about what breakfast items were dairy free and they offered to make me my own scrambled eggs with water instead of milk. Their coffee is wonderful. The view is amazing with tables situated outside you can eat/sit and watch the ocean.

It is getting a little older and some of the tiles on the walkways are loose.

The view was great from our room. Helpful staff. Sufficient breakfast. Our rooms were up to date and clean. Parking was easy as well. We were able to walk to dinner and to the beach over the pedestrian overpass.

We expected some noise from the PCH but it wasn't too bad. The train, however was a surprising reminder of it's existence. It wasn't too bad though. The one elevator was definitely slow and definitely a hot commodity. My dad is disabled so he wasn't able to use the stairs. Luckily we stayed during the middle of the week so it wasn't a big deal at all. Might be more frustrating on weekends.

I booked a room with a whirlpool tub but when I checked in I was given a standard room even though on Booking.com I paid more for the room with the tub. The hotel owner tried to accommodate me by promising me a complimentary night stay in the whirlpool tub room in the future and then he realized the whirlpool tub room would be available the next day and I could have it then. When I returned to my standard room that night the air conditioner was broken so he moved me into the room next door which had an ocean view. The next morning I was told to pack up my belongings by 1pm so the staff could move me to the whirlpool tub room that day. I only received the tub room one night even though I paid for 2 nights but I did get an ocean view room 1 of those nights since the air in my standard room was broken. But the next day I was checking out so I never got to fully unpack my belongings and relax since I was playing "musical rooms." The night before I checked out I requested an extra complimentary night stay in the whirlpool tub room but was denied. Therefore I stayed in a total of 3 different rooms for briefs amounts of time. I really would have enjoyed the whirlpool tub for two nights since I did pay for that.

I could never unpack because I was switching rooms so much.

AMAZING TEAM! Property has new owners from last time I stayed & they are committed to excellence. The New owners & staff are friendly, gracious, & accommodating. They truly listen to your requests & they are in the midst of a complete remodel. The room updates are perfect! The location is great! What's not to love! *Accidentally deleted photos of new room features but one of these pictures show the extent of the level of remodel they are giving every room.

When I arrived at check in, I was greeted by Phil. He was so sweet and helpful. He also upgraded my room to a room with a balcony right in front facing the ocean! It was so amazing hearing the waves crashing while laying in a hotel room. The room was nicely decorated and in better shape then even the pictures online represented. Phil and the other staff were a wonderful and refreshing set of individuals.

The only thing I could say is the bathroom was a bit small but not really grounds for any displeasure of this location.

We had the pleasure of meeting the owners. They are so nice and hospitable and just really make you feel so at home. We had a simulate experience in Italy. It just really was so special. They also really go the extra mile. The continental breakfast is much more extensive and delicious than expected! Oh and there was also a cozy electric fireplace in the room.

Just one tiny detail really… no bathtub. However, there was an upgraded magnificent shower.

Clean, most rooms are newly remodeled and the rest will be within a few months. We booked a room with an ocean view, and we were offered either a newly remodeled room on the ground floor or a yet to be remodeled room upstairs. I liked the view better upstairs (yet to be remodeled) and the room was still very nice, clean, and comfortable. The view was great and the hospitality has been excellent.
