What a great place to stay during our northern California coastal road trip. We only stayed one night - but wish we stayed longer! The place is very cute, with outdoor seating during nice weather. They have tea and yummy cookies in the evening but -- wow-- the breakfast was amazing! They bring a tray to your room with breakfast, including tea / coffee, choice of juice, muffins, fruit, and an egg bake with vegetables. So tasty! Its easy to walk from the Headlands Inn B&B to some of the local restaurants for dinner (we enjoyed the fish and chips at the local Irish pub), to the beach, or to the walk along the coast. Overall, we had a great time at the Headlands Inn and want to return!

We loved everything about the Headlands Inn! One thing about Mendocino: if you are there on a weekday or the off season, the towns shops open up late and close up early. If you are only staying one night, make sure to get there early enough to enjoy all the cute coastal town shops!

The host was super friendly and informative. The breakfasts were delicious and filling. Plus, the timing of service was excellent. We loved the roomy bathroom, comfy bed, and the fireplace option. The beautiful beach was a walkable distance; an excellent way to walk off a hearty breakfast!

The only negative thing about the room was that the little refrigerator's motor kept going on and off during the night, which woke me up a couple of times. Perhaps getting a refrigerator with a quieter motor would help.

We absolutely loved the location of this bed and breakfast and how quaint it was! The charm of the building is unmatched, and we loved reading the history of it. The breakfast was piping hot each morning and delicious. It was exactly what I pictured for my romantic birthday weekend - out of a Hallmark movie. We actually loved that our room didn’t have a tv, in the shared common room on the second level we found books about the area to read, and plenty of fun older board games. It really added to the experience and was the perfect place to disconnect from our phones and focus on each other! I will also dearly miss the wood burning fireplace! So romantic!

ONLY thing I can think of is that the carpet could be updated. Thats literally it!

Great food, great location. Very small bathroom, tiny toilet and tight shower, all to be expected in an old house converted to be an inn. Comfortable bed and furnishings. Rain and loud thunder claps on our second night were a special and enjoyable surprise - and no extra charge for that! Lots of nice little touches made us feel ‘at home’.

See above. Shower floor was slippery enough to be dangerous (mentioned to housekeeper). We somehow missed it when we made reservations that the room we chose was on the second floor ( our bad - both in our 80s).

Breakfast was outstanding! I was so happy I picked this location for Thanksgiving morning. We ate our beautiful and delicious breakfast in our sweet room overlooking the bay. They did a beautiful job on breakfast (Souffle, fresh baked muffins and fresh fruit with coffee) and check in snacks (fresh baked cookies!). The view was GORGEOUS and so peaceful! The staff was sweet and accommodating. Overall, we absolutely loved our stay here.

I hate to say anything because we absolutely did love it here, but the bed was a bit too hard for my liking and the carpets could use cleaning. But considering all the amazing things about it, these were relatively minor details.

Excellent location, wonderful room (Switzer), local manager very helpful and considerate. Home baked scones and cookies for afternoon tea was very welcoming. Room size large with big bed and more pillows than you cold ever want. In a converted 3 story house that had been wonderfully decorated and maintained. Great views over the rooftops and the coast. All restaurants and shops were within walking distance. Breakfast brought to your room works very well.

Breakfast isn't designed for international or even some US travellers!! The 3 thick slices of soft doughy bread, lightly toasted with layers of sliced banana topped with cinnamon in between, covered in syrup and all heated - was way over the top for us. Suggest a change to a choice of muffins and bagels with cream cheese and jam. This would more easily compliment the the other great items provided.

Location was absolutely beautiful with a window view out to the Headlands! Fresh flowers on the breakfast try an extra nice touch. Loved the second breakfast of more protein, "Martha's Southwestern Eggs", the fruit and granola bake and mini bakery items. Perfect! Hostess and service was exceptional. Fireplace with a burn-log was lovely. Patricia Stofel room is quite small, the charm of it and how it's been decorated is beautiful.

First breakfast was too sugary and not enough protein.

I stayed during the worst rain storm this year. They made my room cozy and when the power went out all over town the B&B provided jugs of water, extra fire wood and extra snacks. loved this place but couldn't book room this coming trip. they are full most of the time except in winter's stormy season.

weather, roads were flooded, could not get out, had to stay extra night but Headlands discounted my rate due to conditions beyond their control.

Headlands Inn was an amazing overnight stop on our trip driving the PCH from Tacoma, WA to LA. Mendocino is a lovely town and the Inn is located right in the village just steps from a wide variety of restaurants and boutiques. We arrived late and John left us our key and welcome info available for us to let ourselves in. The room was beautiful, cozy, and full of historic charm. We both travel with and sleep with CPAP machines and when we discovered we didn't have an extension cord long enough to reach the outlet (the Inn is a historical building and as such there was one main outlet in the room with a provided multi-outlet strip but we were ill-prepared), John was so kind as to bring us an extension cord and leave it in our room while we were at dinner. Crisis averted, and we slept soundly and deeply in the comfortable bed! The room was stocked with toiletries and the cool summer evening breeze through our window was just perfect. We could even catch a glimpse of the ocean from our ground-floor room. Breakfast was delicious and took into account any dietary needs and preferences we had. We had to leave before 10am to stay on schedule so we didn't have a chance to meet our wonderful innkeepers face to face but we hope they know how much we appreciated their hospitality. We will absolutely stay again if we find ourselves in beautiful Mendocino!

The only thing we were lacking was our own mistake -- if you have multiple electronics that might have to function in different parts of the room, a lightweight extension cord is advised. We forgot historic buildings don't have as many electric outlets in them as modern accommodations.

This is a quaint little B & B in a quiet town, close to plenty of local restaurants. Our host took the time to give us local directions.

The earliest breakfast time on offer was 8:45, which was later than we would have liked as we had a long days driving ahead of us. When it arrived it was very tasty, but an earlier option would have been good - I suspect this was the case for other visitors who were also asking for the earliest breakfast possible.
