The place is charming. Luckily we were in the one ground floor level room. Unfortunately the guests above us were walking with elephant feet. So you give up the stair climb with luggage for guests above you who are heavy walkers... The wine picnic delivery was great as well as the breakfast baskets.

The heavy walkers above our room.

Whilst this is a victorian house the decoration of the hotel and the room is very nicely contemporaneous. The views from the breakfast area are absolutely amazing and are also to be enjoyed during the complimentary wine and cheese. The breakfast is very good with different options. Staff couldn't;t be more friendly and helpful. Our room, in the adjacent building with fireplace, additional living space was ideal as we met family during our stay. The hotel is very well located with the track along the coast just across the street and whilst at walking station from the aquarium it is in an area where parking on the street is still free and easy. I couldn't;t recommend more this hotel when in the area.

Due to COVID-19 restrictions, they delivered a nice picnic basket breakfast to our room. Yogurt, very tasty granola, fresh fruit, scone/English muffin, juice and coffee. The quiche was very good. Wine and cheese crackers and cookies also available for pick up in the afternoon. The bed was really comfortable! We stayed in carriage house #7 and had a nice partial view of the ocean. All the staff members were very friendly and helpful. I liked the location...easy walking distance to Cannery Row and Lover’s Point. The bike path/pedestrian trail is right across the street I loved walking towards Lover’s Point and seeing the beautiful pink ice plant covering the ground near Perkins Park.

The portions of granola and yogurt were a little small...but probably this is technically an actual serving size. However, trying to mix the fruit and granola into the 1/2 cup yogurt container was tricky, but when I mentioned this to the front desk, I was told I could use the bowls in their dining room cabinet.

Our room was wonderful. We really enjoyed the fireplace and the interior design. The bed was incredibly comfortable and the best sleep we had during our whole trip. Bathroom was also excellent —great spa sized tub and lovely lily of the valley scented soaps. Glorious views onto the ocean.

Unfortunately part of the communal area was being reconstructed so there was less space to sit. On the plus side, we got to meet some other guests by sharing tables. Whilst there is free parking on the street, we struggled to find a spot close to the premises when we arrived which was annoying. Would have been nice to have designated park spaces for the hotel itself if possible (we realise it may not be given the location and historic nature of the building)

Beautiful uninterrupted ocean views. Parlour and breakfast room overlook the Pacific and along with the happy hour promotes friendliness amongst guests. Impeccably clean historic building. Carriage rooms behind with small terrace and overlooking both “ garden” ( with deer) and ocean. . Very convenient to Pacific Grove centre amd short pleasant coastal walk ( past seasonal seal colony) to Monterey. Short drive to spectacular 17 mile drive. Tasty ample breakfasts. Generously proportioned rooms with toasty gas fire and plenty of living as well as sleeping space. Jacuzzi bath. Friendly staff.

Older style building means that sound insulation between floors dependant on a light footstep.

We stayed in the Lacy Room. We loved the overall Victorian vibe. It was cool staying in a house built in 1888. The antiques were a nice touch. The location is excellent with proximity to Cannery Row and Lover's Point. The breakfast was excellent, brought to our room at the chosen time. Hot coffee was available on request, due to COVID you can't pour your own. The coffee was excellent as well. The King bed was very comfortable. We wish we could have stayed more than just one night. The staff was very accommodating and friendly.

The gas fireplace only runs for a maximum of 2 hours, then you have to press the button again. The temp can't be adjusted. It was cool having one though. It didn't look like a gas fireplace, the flame was like a wood fire. The bathroom plumbing has some issues. There is a plunger, so they are aware of the problem. The sink has hot and cold water but the faucets are separate, which is cool in an old Victorian, but makes washing hands a hassle. There is a jacuzzi tub, but we didn't try it. There is no heater (it was chilly) and the provided portable heater wasn't working. There is a door in the bathroom that leads to the hall by the front desk, and the side door. It was kind of noisy in the morning.

What a superb place. A beautiful old fashioned building with additional rooms in an annex. Our room was in the annex ground floor, large, nicely decorated. Friendly helpful staff. located literally across the road from the sea. Short walk to many attractions such as the aquarium. Lots of wildlife, seals, sealions, whales and dolphins. Nice breakfast and wine and nibbles late afternoon.

Bit of renovation at the time we stayed. Frankly wasn't a problem and it will only keep this lovely place going.

The location is hard to beat, the ability to walk to the Aquarium and the trail along the coast is gorgeous. The breakfast and wine with cheese in the evening is perfect.

The rooms are older and quaint, and overheated. The room stayed overly warm even with the heaters turned off. Parking was in the street, not always available but overall was fine.
