Pacific Grove is our favorite place for a getaway. Nothing touches the beauty of this coastline! Beauty at very turn...the ocean's moods, the Cypress trees and the quaint town of Pacific Grove. The MPI is our favorite place, in our favorite place!
Bed too soft...we prefer a firm mattress. Even so, not a deal breaker.

We rented a family bungalow for our family of 5. The fact that you don't share a wall with neighbors is nice. The beds were super comfortable, and the location and staff were great. Loved they had an outdoor fire pit and jacuzzi. Also, they are pet friendly, which was important to me. Would definitely recommend staying here again.
My only complaints about the room is that the set up of the bathroom is a little weird. The bathroom is small, and so is the shower. Plus, the sink is not in the bathroom. You have to come out and go into the other little space that has a sink and the mini fridge. These spaces are what separates the second bedroom. It's just a different configuration. This wouldn't deter me from staying here again though.

We have stayed at the Monterey Peninsula Inn many times over the past 20 years and we keep coming back because of the value, the location and the overall good treatment we have had from staff. This time, we couldn't get the wall furnace to turn on. We called the front desk and the lady who responded discovered that the thermostat battery was dead and she quickly replaced it. Later, the fan in the bathroom wouldn't run and the electrical plug in the bathroom was dead. The young man who responded to our call simply pushed the reset button on the plug unit and everything was working. In both cases the staff responded quickly, was very pleasant and didn't make the "old folks" feel stupid. The bed was very comfortable.
My wife always remarks to me that the layout of the bathroom was obviously designed by a man. There are no shelves to put any toiletries or shaving articles on. My wife put her bottles and tubes on the window sill and I put my shaving items, tooth brush, etc. on the toilet tank cover. She also suggests that you need to put a hook inside the bathroom door on which to hang a bath robe.

well, the only thing that I didn't like is that for pieces of jewelry were ruined. I have been in many many hot tubs Mexico, Hawaii , cruises a lot of places I got into this hot tub and it completely ruined 4 Rings and an ankle bracelet, stripped it out the beautiful silver came out charcoal black so I would say that you should probably post some thing saying do not wear your jewelry into the hot tub because mine were completely ruined. Other than that everything was perfectly wonder

Location was close to asilmar state beach and convenient for morning walk but little far from downtown. The room was spacious and comfortable. Liked separate full bed room for privacy with kids who stayed in other room with two queen beds.
Breakfast was not provided even at this price. The bathroom access for main room is through other bedroom which is awkward. Could have separate bathroom for main room guests. The location is little far from downtown.

Monterey is our favorite place to visit but can be pricey. We have found the MP is the perfect location, clean, super friendly staff, and affordable. The rooms are big, shower water is hot, and bed is comfy. We have done their cheapest room and their upgraded room with a kitchen. It's worth the upgrade if you can afford it!
The cheaper room didn't have air conditioning and we ran a fan the whole time. ( can be kinda loud )

The Monterey Peninsula Inn exceeded my expectations. The owners really invested in upgrades to the rooms and it shows. We rented a room with a full kitchen and it was lovely. High ceilings, comfortable beds and a working stove. Exactly what we were looking for! There is a fire pit outside and a hot tub. Plus the Inn is only 4 minutes from the Monarch butterfly garden!
This is not a resort. There is no central indoor space to hang out with kids etc., but it's a great value for what it provides. Most of the properties in this area are inns like this one (think 1950's).

MPI is in a great location in Pacific Grove. If is walking distance to the shore, PG Golf and short drives to restaurants, grocery stores and tourist attractions like the Monterey Aquarium, Cannery Row, 17 Mile Drive, Pebble Beach, Carmel, etc. The desk clerk was very friendly. There is coffee all day long in the office. Our room was ground level and we didn't hear anyone above us. The king bed was very comfortable. The hotel is dog friendly so it was nice seeing them around the facility. And, unexpectedly, they did housekeeping after the first night. Bonus.
The room size was adequate, but a little larger would have been nice.

I was working remotely from the inn. The internet was exceptional, location was unbeatable as it was close to Pacific Grove facilities (about a 10-15mins walk) and close to Assomar beach (about 10mins walking). It was about 30mins walking to Cannery Row and about 20mins to Lovers Point. The staff was very friendly and helpful too.

I grew up at Del Monte Lodge in the 50' and 60's ( my dad was the GM), and most of my adult life, I have stayed with friends in Carmel. Now, as part of a couple, that's no longer comfortable, so we looked for reasonable accommodations. We chose Pacific Grove. Growing up, PG meant trips to Holman's at Christmas, and that's it. Now, it's far preferable to Carmel; for one, you can actually drive down the street without encountering construction trucks. This was our second stay at the MPI, and I wouldn't trade it for anything! We were given Room 400. At first, we both looked at the proximity to Lighthouse and almost darted back into the lobby, but housekeeping had opened all of the blinds and I noticed the light. I said to my husband, "wait a minute, let's check for street noise, maybe the double pane windows are sufficient." Sure enough; we walked in and it was whisper quiet, plus there's a private patio. There was one, single calla lilly in bloom and lots of surrounding trees to provide complete privacy. Actually, it's a lovely glen. We had coffee/tea outside and I did my daily Calligraphy in the afternoon there, while John read. I know, this is a ridiculously long review, but we'll be back again and again. To tell you the truth, even if they comped me a stay in my old home (which is the last building on the 18th, closest in the to the the Beach Club), I don't think I would stay. For one thing, I'm loyal. Secondly, this is my life now and I love it and I love this small inn. I'm going to call it The Little Inn that could. Thanks very much for the discount coupon, we intend to use it. I have to give a shout out to the staff. The front desk staff is friendly, but not so much so that you feel you've gone into Sugar Shock. I always say, "you can train a staff person, but the hospitality gene must be a part of their personality.
Absolutely nothing!
