I needed to be in Palo Alto for the weekend to go to a Stanford program. I loved that most of the workflow (check-in and check-out) with the hotel was done via email and self-serve. It made everything super easy and quick. The hotel was also very centrally located meaning I could walk to all the major areas (Uni Ave, etc) and it took me about 30min to walk to the Stanford campus. The hotel was clean, organized and was functional. I found the bed and pillows to be comfortable and I had lots of space to organize my stuff.

My only callout would be to be mindful of the noise during the weekend (was there from Friday to Sunday) as the hotel is directly above bars and restaurants and it gets very loud. The hotel does provide earplugs as courtesy so I didn't have any problem with that and slept throughout but people sensitive with noise that also hear through earplugs might find it difficult to sleep. However, If I needed to go back I'd look to stay here again :)

I'm pretty sure we were given the best room in the hotel. It was room 314 which was a corner King room. There were windows that open where we could watch the the diners below on a closed off street and the main Hamilton Avenue out the other side. The bonus for me was the window in the shower that I could take a shower while watching the diners and passers by below. The restaurant Osteria below serves great Italian cuisine and the aromas wafting up into the room were intoxicating. There is some minor noise issues, but we didn't mind because we live in a very quiet rural area of Northern California. So the sound of partiers below was mostly voices and glasses clanging. No combustion motors because just about everybody drives a quiet Tesla. Ahhh... the future is bright!

Only coffee was offered in the lobby. For the price, I kind of expected at least a Continental breakfast. Some fresh pastries and a selection of juices would suffice.

Very quaint vintage hotel that had very clean, nicely updated rooms. The lobby had nice penny tiles, fireplace, an antique elevator, etc. Nice ambiance for sure. Nothing extravagant, but just what I needed. Beautiful walk to Stanford University and in the heart of Palo Alto with amazing restaurants and wine bars. If I ever return to the area - I will no doubt stay here.

The only concern was no fault of the Cardinal Hotel. Booking.com states that the Cardinal hotel boasts a fitness center and yoga classes - this was not true. The Cardinal has relationships with nearby places that you can buy a pass to ($15/day), but the fitness facilities were not on site. Regardless, I would stay again.

The staff are fantastic, especially Christian who gave us a little tour of some of the beautiful original features of the hotel. It’s so charming. Rooms were large and airy and clean.

Note that there is no aircon but there is a ceiling fan in the room.

- nice charme in a very central location - super friendly staff - I was able to have my luggage kept at the hotel on the day of the check-out

- painful check-in process despite a pre-check-in offered - if you have breakfast included beware that you have to take it in the café next door, which has a complete mobile ordering process (not in a godd way)

Great, central location. In a hip area - lots of restaurants and shops nearby. Right in the heart of the action - great nightlife area. Beautiful old building.

Breakfast options could have been better - no options to customise or add items. The options while limited were tasty though Expensive property.

The room was quaint and comfortable and clean. The location was unbeatable as we were able to walk to dinner, drinks, and our spa reservation. We stayed on a Saturday night and could hear live music when we opened our window, it was pleasing and relaxing.

Our only complaint would be the creepy elevator. We initially got in it to go up to our room when we first arrived, but we were glad to see our room was right next to the stairs and we just walked up and down those the rest of our stay.

The inner decoration is aesthetically amazing. I read that it trying to reproduce the vintage old Spanish style and it certainly achieve its goal. The front desk is also very friendly and accommodating.

Nothing really. One head-up is that in the manual it says that there is a laundry room, but in fact there is none anymore. you should bring your cloth to front desk for dry-cleaning in the morning.

The hotel has a pretty location in Palo Alto and everything that they offer is enough to stay a short time to work or just to visit the interesting city.

The room didn't ready when we arrived to check in, waited almost 30 minutes to room was ready for us and when you are so tired 30 minutes is a long time.

Staff were very friendly and helpful, and the hotel is in a nice location.

It was a Saturday night and there was a reasonably high level of noise from nearby bars/restaurants which made it difficult to get to sleep. On the flipside, the noise exists because the hotel is in a good location.
