Hotel Petaluma, Ascend Hotel Collection

The location was convenient to the highway but not too loud. There is a bar downstairs, which is nice although we didn't go since we got in quite late. The staff were very nice and helpful, and it looks like the hotel has been recently renovated.

Check-in was a little weird because it was late and so the entrance on the main road was closed so we had to go through the outdoor patio to get to the desk. There is also no parking, it is all street parking which necessitates moving your car every two hours during the day. The hallway by our room looked like it was in the middle of being repaired/renovated because it wasn't finished being painted. Not a huge deal, just something we noticed. There was also no breakfast, which was a bummer considering the price of the room, but we knew that going on.

One person at the desk helped me find a place to eat breakfast and helped me get a parking space just outside the hotel on my last night so that I didn’t have to walk to my car in the parking garage at 3:00am to drive to the airport. A guard walked me to my car the morning that I left. I loved the 24 hr coffee/tea service. I loved the fire in the lobby fireplace. I loved the decor. Beautiful lobby. Excellent location. Free parking!

I called for another blanket on 2 days. Stayed 4 nights and never received it. I did, however, increase the heat and I was very comfortable. The bathroom was lovely but very small. Parking was on top of a garage a block away and one must walk up the stairwell of the garage to reach one’s car. That’s fine but as a single woman it made me a bit nervous.

The public areas in this hotel were really lovely and had unique style. We loved being able to sit in front of an open fire to the side of the bar area drinking complimentary coffee and enjoying our nightcap spirits! The staff were very friendly and the room was large, comfortable and clean. We did wonder about the ear plugs at the side of the bed though! The Hotel has a great restaurant with indoor and outside courtyard tables as well as a wine and spirit tasting facility inside. The atmosphere throughout the hotel was great and locals clearly use the restaurant. The hotel is in a great location in this lovely town as it is simple to find by car and within easy walking distance of some great restaurants, bars, wine tasting rooms, and boutique shops.

Parking was on the street and in theory was charged and policed at certain times. We didn't feel comfortable to be told that if you are parked in certain areas and at specific times it "won't be a problem". Nevertheless, we didn't have a problem although we only stayed one night. We did find out why ear plugs were provided as we were woken in the middle of the night by what we think was a huge freight train running through this delightful town and sounding its horn! The hotel needs to publicise the restaurant and the wine/spirit tastings it does on site as we had already pre-booked to do this elsewhere and were therefore unable to utilise the discount cards the hotel reception provided. Otherwise the hotel is great as it is.

There was no breakfast, although that would have been nice! I love the location. The staff who worked at/with the Shuckery were fantastic! The lobby is very charming, as well as the patio. The room and bathroom were very sweet with a lot of character.

The pillows were hard, in my opinion, and a little lumpy. The room was stuffy and warm. It was better with all the fans on, but that made it hard for me to sleep, with the air blowing directly on me.

The most comfortable bed and pillows I have ever slept on! I wanted to buy both upon check-out. The staff was extremely friendly and even called me with info on the bed and pillows maker. It's a beautifully renovated historic hotel with all the comforts and amenities of a modern one. Loved everything about it, including the city center location. This hotel will be my first (and only) choice when back in the area.

Beautiful property in an amazing location. Staff is super accommodating and helpful. Hotel bar and restaurant are fantastic. If you are going to explore downtown Petaluma, this is a perfect location for walking, everything is close.

Because it is an older property sound insulation is not great- would recommend staying on the back side of the property away from the street, otherwise it is very noisy. Also would request a room on the top floor as it can be very noisy from the room above you. Had some issues with the heater not working as well but the front desk was quick to send up a space heater.

The room was really pretty and the court yard was amazing. The staff was extremely nice and informative. I absolutely loved the photo in our room. It was an old truck with a peacock standing on it. I tried to look it up to see if I could find it but no luck!

The beds were a little springy and uncomfortable but we would stay there again. There was a bathroom window that opened up into a brick space and it was creepy.

I love the staff. They are friendly, helpful, and treat you respectfully. I love the location and the proximity to lots of restaurants and stores. We had a lot of fun walking around and being able to come back to the hotel. The lounge is gorgeous with water and coffee throughout the day.

I was sad to see they added a $25 fee for early check in and late check out. Even if you are a little early or late. Most hotels, try to work with you if you are early and want to store your valuables in your room. Also, the parking is a bummer, having to move the car or park a little far. The lounge was also packed at happy hour which is fun but got loud and crowded.

beautiful restored historical hotel. large cozy lobby with a fire on n the large fireplace to great us upon arrival. Ton, at the front desk was very pleasant.

my shower water was only lukewarm at 7:00am. it finally got hot when I was just about finished. I’m hoping that just happened to be a busy time for hot water use. it was not a show stopper. we will be back, especially if they don’t raise their rates.

Front desk staff was friendly and helpful. Loved the fresh coffee every morning in the lobby and the happy hour in the evenings. Location can't be beat-all of the shops and restaurants right out the door.

A little street noise, but the air filter/fan provided in the room helped with that. The elevator was broken a couple times during our stay, but they fixed it quickly, so it wasn't an issue for us.
