The location was great and the views were spectacular

Theres no staff on site (its not really a hotel - hotels have staffed desks), the windows dont have curtains meaning youll be up with the sun. The bed is in a homebuilt loft up a steep ladder with no rail. There are no light switches or plugs near the bed. NOISE! You can hear everything going on in other rooms, including walking on the floor above you. The bathroom door was coming off its hinges and didnt close. No silverware was in the kitchen. I actually didnt hate my stay there, but if you have ANY mobility issues or need quiet or darkness to sleep, Id avoid this place

Great location. Quirky room. Fun with teenagers. Good parking (undercover and spacious). Nice cafe/bakery incorporated (didn't take advantage of it, but nice to know it was there). Very easy location to travel to and from. Would stay again.

The maintenance in the room was a bit poor: The tap fitting was loose. The A/C unit was under the table/bench, making the floor very cold (unpleasant), but not reaching the loft box rooms, meaning they were very warm (it was August).

The hotel is quite close to the Balboa park and there are a lot of nice restaurants that you can walk within a couple of minutes. You can take a 10 minute ride share to the gaslamp district. The hotel feels secure. The room overlooked the Fourth Ave. which has beautiful trees. The room feels modern and spacious. The fridge is spacious and there is a nice table to enjoy a quick meal.

Parking charge information is inconsistent. Hotel booking page shows $15 for the daily parking and the reservation confirmation listed $20. Not a huge deal, but they charged us $20 dollars for one night $25 for the other. The room amenities listed a kettle, coffee machine and iron which were missing. The lady cleaning the rooms was kind to provide a coffee machine when asked.

Loved having the kitchenette—we cooked two of our dinners there! Vincent was great at welcoming us and finding us TWO hot plates. It was definitely no frills but comfortable and clean. We love Hillcrest and it’s hippie vibe!

The TV was in a bad spot—unable to see from the bed unless it was put on the floor. Maybe a small table at the end of the bed to make viewing easier? I’m not sure about the set up of the shower/toilet; I know space is limited but NO privacy!

Location was great. Lots of eateries around.

The bathroom. Door was pretty much just a divider. So you can totally see your partner/friend pooping. Also, it was a little tight but not something to cry about. There were a few stains on the couch and sheets but I’m poor anyway so that didn’t bother me really.

The hotel is amazingly well laid out, with rooms on several levels, which makes it feel very spacious and like you have rented a whole flat. The location and ground floor cafe (run by two wonderful people) are excellent, as is the wifi. I had some very good days there.

The Kafe was excellent. The room was modern and different. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom could use a mirror.

It's a really nice neighborhood/area to be in. The bed was comfy. It has everything we needed for a short stay.

The bathroom door had no way to stay closed.
