Kings Inn

We have stayed a few times now and love the location and pool amenities. We didn’t get to use the pool and hot tub this time as we mainly were staying just for the evening and the weather was cooler the day of check out. We like that there are two restaurants and the price of stay is usually very affordable in comparison to other motels.

We had to pay for two vehicles to park since my husband met my daughter and I there after work. $30 to park our vehicles for a one night stay was a little upsetting. Especially since we didn’t get that memo till after we had booked. if you add that to the overall motel price it definitely makes you think if other options are cheaper with that extra charge added on.

The room was very cute, and we seriously enjoyed both the Waffle Spot and Amigo Spot. To have breakfast/lunch and a dinner option right on the property is really nice, a great convenience. If you aren’t interested in either place, there is a mall/shopping center pretty close by, just California roads are a little crazy so getting around can be hard. Great location for the San Diego Zoo and Balboa Park.

We stayed here for a few days, on one of them we saw a roach in our room. It crawled out from behind the TV stand, not sure where it went after. I get it, bugs are an issue anywhere you go. We didn’t point it out at the time and I certainly wasn’t prepared to take a picture of it, but thought I would share here. It didn’t put a damper in our stay or anything, the room is still clean overall and room service stops by every single day.

Very friendly staff and great value for the money

There was mold in the shower which could have been cleaned easily if someone had actually had a look.

Clean, however, bathrooms are so small. I did like easy access to old town.

Someone intentionally scratched our vehicle with their initials during the night. Visible security (attendant) would be appreciated.

King's Inn is always a very reasonable rate, and stay for the money. The location is pretty reasonably convenient to everything we do in San Diego. We have never had issues with the accommodations.

I'm not sure I can say that restaurant is worth visiting. It is inexplicably expensive considering what you get. 2 waffles with no dressings was almost $40. That is borderline criminal. But I don't know if that is limited to just this waffle place. It seemed every restaurant in San Diego is on some price gouging acid trip like they all want to rocket ship themselves out of business.

The rooms are nice, clean, and pretty modern. fridge was a good size and cooled well.

We had a connecting door to the next room occupied by strangers. we could hear every single word and sound coming from their room and I’m sure they could hear us too. a little annoying

The room was clean and quite nice. Design was pleasant, bed was comfortable, wi-fi was stable. The pool seemed really nice, the gym had a selection of free weights which is rare in hotels, which was nice and they had laundry room.

The main issue is thin walls and/or the door to the next room which should be sealed. There is relatively zero sound isolation so you hear every sentence people are saying next door and even if they are not loud, you hear them walking and such, which disturbs and gives no sense of privacy. Earplugs are necessary for sleeping. Additionally, more tools could be provided if you want to eat breakfast in your room, not the restaurant, since breakfast is not included. I received utensils but they had no plates, but they did provide coffee which was nice :)

Can't fault this place for facilities - all excellent. The rooms are a good size and all I needed for a 7 night stay. I noticed that refurbishment was taking place in rooms next to mine, this proves that the building is well maintained and anything needing fixed is repaired quickly.

The reception staff were helpful and attentive whenever I asked them for anything, but on checking out I wasn't asked if I enjoyed my stay. I did enjoy my stay and would return to this hotel but at times the staff appear to be a little bit robotic.

The pool, the restaurants, the clean room and bedding, great outdoor area around pool and a jacuzzi.

Booking.com said total price then when we got there Kings Inn had a hidden fee for parking not mentioned anywhere. If it was mentioned upfront that would be ok but we didn’t find out until we got there. Then on their own site it says parking fee for over one car per room but it wasn’t like that. There is a fee of $15 a night for one car. So if you read this review be warned there is a parking fee of $15 a night.

Friendly staff, clean room. The property and area felt safe. The adjacent restaurant was good and convenient too.
