Grant Hotel

They provided a free breakfast of pastries which was delicious e.g. croissants and muffins. There was all tea, coffee and hot chocolate. The hotel had a water dispenser for fresh filtered water which was so helpful, as well as an ice dispenser. This was invaluable as it saved us from having to buy bottled water (very expensive in San Fran!!). Staff were so lovely and accommodating and allowed us to store our ice packs in the freezer overnight so that they could freeze. Good location, very central San Fran. Excellent value hotel compared to others in the same location. We were also given a room with a lot of natural daylight and sun which was nice.

Unión Square can be a but of a scary location but that isn’t anything to do with the hotel. Didn’t realise we had to request a fridge in advance if we wanted one in our room.

Location was good!!! Close to cable car and a few block away from subway and BART. Very close to Union Square which is the heart of SF City. Free coffee and tea 24 hours a day!!! And in the morning the hot drinks and muffins/pastries were excellent. There is a micro in the eating area that can be used 24 hours a day. And a mini refrig can be be provided on request. Lots of good restaurants in the area. Theater area is very close by, maybe 5 min walk to nearest theater.

A little bit of a climb up one hill/block to get to the street that the hotel is on.

Small breakfast like muffins, cake and croissants available as well as coffee, tea and water available. Good to start the sightseeing day after have a little breakfast. Very central, close to Union Square and China Town. Cable car tram in 1min walk. Valet parking on other side of street. Before you get your car, don't forget to pay the parking at the hotel. There you get "I paid" stickers on your parking ticket. That stickers show the parking man that you have paid and you get your car. Would stay there again, no doubt.

Be aware that most of the rooms don't have a nice view from window, because houses are build close to each other. When you want a street view, take care when booking. We didn't spend much time in the room because were on a sightseeing trip, so it did not bother us.

The location was great. Lots of restaurants and bars, shops and salons. The street car was at the corner. Coffee and pastries for breakfast. All the staff were friendly and helpful.

Our first night we were on the 5th floor, on the street side, and the traffic was very loud. We asked for a new room and were given one at the back, which was much quieter.

Smells funny in the hallways. Yes, it's not the Hilton. Surprise

Good location around nightlife and restaurants. It is a very good priced budget hotel and the beds were good and everything felt clean. It's almost like a hostel with a lot of international travelers. I was surprised by the fresh pastries in the morning and yummy coffee! I can tell the place is well run and managed!

Would be better to add an extra Keurig machine or two! There was only one for a busy morning!

Cleaning staff speaking loudly in the hallway early in the morning and knocking on our door 2 hours before the checkout time

Simple, light. Tasty. Coffee was excellent, with choices. Great location. An excellent Japanese restaurant just next door.

For the winter weather, a thicker blanket, comforter would be ideal. Front Desk need to be more customer service oriented, greeting Good Morning or Evening, and thanking guests for staying at hotel. I never had a Welcome to Grant Hotel, or Thank you, Come Again. In fairness they were busy at their posts, attending to hotel matters or the food. Still, CRM vital.

Big and spacious room with clean and fresh bathroom. Location was great, just a block up from union square and easy access to public transport.

The room smelled kind of weird, not disgusting but just a weird smell. The space heater made a weird noise at night, nothing to bad but still. Could have wished there was a refrigerator in the room. The only thing that was really bad was the Wi-Fi.
