Amazing hotel! Special mention to Fred for giving us an amazing tour of the building - He was so friendly, hospitable and knowledgable! Really easy excess to the city - only a 10 minute walk to Union Square or jump on a cable car! Great big room with en-suite - even had a room to put our cases in which had an iron, hairdryer etc! Would absolutely come back to the hotel! The breakfast was limited but lovely - think pastries, cereal and coffee!

My only gripe was not being able to contact the front desk at night - a drunk (harmless) guest was trying to get into our room! :O

When my room wasn't ready, the staff at the front desk was apologetic and offered me a clean room to get ready in while I waited for my room to be cleaned. In the past I've never been doted on like that at a hotel. It allowed the staff to show how far they want to go to make you have a great stay. Sure, the room not being clean"on time" isn't great, but we're in COVID times and have a labor shortage. It's fully understandable on me end. Additionally, all of the staff I interacted with were wonderful and delightful

The front door being locked late at night was inconvenient, but that is the most minor thing. It is done for safety and I'm ok with that

I loved the character of the hotel as it is built in the old Press Club, so lots of wonderful history. The location was excellent, directly on the cable car line, and in walking distance of many restaurants and businesses. The staff was friendly and accommodating and truly care about the satisfaction of their guests. The continental breakfast was good for a quick bite and the coffee was hot and ready early. The bar is beautiful and the bartenders are excellent. The view from the bar balcony is worth the price of admission!

I wasn't aware when I booked that there was no central ac, which is not really a huge deal in San Francisco since the weather is so pleasant, and you can cool the room with windows open.

The staffs were great. This is a beautiful Grade-II heritage building. They have an amazing view of the city- so a drink in their magnificent, royal bar is a must. It is very close to downtown. Hop on the cable car and you will be there in five mins. China Town is walking distance especially if you fancy Asian food. Fisherman Wharf is beautiful and a stroll around the area is a must. Again catch the cable car to the Wharf.

The location was great, in a nice neighbourhood. The staff were very helpful and friendly! The room was well furnished, bed was very comfy. Definitely very value for money!!

Although the bathroom was clean and renovated, the shower did not drain very quickly.

Great and peaceful location on the cable car route to the Bay area, historic vintage interiör, all stories, photos and art on the walls of the hotel, the Black Cat Bar, library, very kind and helpful staff. This building offers a sight to the San Franciscos development. The hotel rooms are rebuild, fresh and new. We highly recommend!

Note when using cable car validity of one day ticket. One day is a week day, not 24 hours.

We loved the history of the building. Touring around was really cool. The library was the best. We also loved having use of the spa, that was an unexpected bonus. The staff was super friendly and the bar and view was beautiful.

We did not expect to pay so much for off premise parking, but that is my fault, but a shock none the less. I have been to many historical building hotels and this one was very.....old? Not very welcoming(as far as atmsphere), the towels were thin the toilet paper was rough, no ac. It just didn't seem like a top notch hotel.

Classic, cozy club/hotel that honors its history with kind, welcoming staff who makes you feel like a local. Great location with tramways outside. Offers access to club facilities and breakfast with room. Handsome bar and great restaurant open midweek.

Nothing…would stay again.

The building is a magnificent piece of San Franciscan history, it's almost worth staying there just to visit the building itself. Perfectly positioned next to the tram stop and a very short walk from Union Square and some great restaurants. I'd like to give a special mention to the staff, in particular Fred who gave us a great tour of the hotel and told us all the stories associated with the place.
