Inn San Francisco

Very welcoming and helpful staff. A Victorian property furnished in Victorian style, comfortable and elegant. Breakfast is superb – huge variety of fresh fruit; ham, salami and hard-boiled eggs; freshly-made quiches; a good variety of breads and pastries; juice and coffee and tea. Coffee and fruit are available at all times, and a glass of sherry is good after a day's sightseeing. The garden is beautiful, and there's a hot tub.

Room 36 and its bed are extremely small. Definitely choose a larger room! The area is close to Mission Street and its inhabitants, and some of the nearby public transport goes along Mission, so you get to see the grotty parts of the city. It wasn't a problem for us, but there are a *lot* of stairs. Definitely not suitable for disabled access.

The Inn is beautifully furnished and decorated with Victorian era antiques and nice replicas which makes this location special and different from any other spot! The bed was super comfy and every staff person we talked to was incredibly friendly and helpful. I also read that they pay their workers sick leave which is great for so many reasons!

I like old places but some others might not. This is a real deal old Victorian home with modern plumbing (for example) installed very much later. There’s not much they could do about any of that. I love this place.

The Inn SF felt like home the moment we walked in- cinematic detail in the interior design, historic and very well taken care of, our room was super comfortable with a cozy comfy bed, soap and shampoo and robes, it was very quiet and clean. The attention to detail was remarkable, everywhere you looked there was something historic and beautiful to see. The breakfast was so generous and delicious with lots of fresh fruits and a variety of protein and fresh baked goods. Marty was very welcoming, and gave a great restaurant recco we loved down the street, Limon. We will definitely stay here again next time we're in SF, we were sad to leave!

Can't think of anything we didn't like!

Our stay at Inn San Francisco was the best hotel experience of our lives. Not exaggerating. We don’t know what people expect from a five star hotel, but for us, this more modest hotel was infinitely better than some soulless shiny tower. Marty greeted us on arrival and exceptionally kind, fun to talk to, and more than accommodating. He took the time to show us around and make us feel genuinely welcomed and completely comfortable. We returned a week later for a second stay before our long haul flight, and met Liza. She was also extraordinarily kind and welcoming. The quality of service was outstanding throughout. The property was amazing. The breakfast and atmosphere created was second to none. This was exactly the San Francisco experience we dreamed of of. The area is fabulous, with incredible restaurants and street art San Francisco-ness to explore all around. We would come back to San Francisco all the way from New Zealand again just to stay at the Inn! This place has personality, and it was a great match for us. Thank you to our wonderful hosts.

The rooms are incredibly charming. Small, but clean and well decorated and very cute. The property itself is fantastic. The breakfast was great and the dining area, the gardens, and the rooftop are lovely and quiet. We only stayed a night, but it was a great location to relax in a peaceful environment with coffee before hitting the city. The staff is very friendly and incredibly accommodating. The queen room we were in doesn't have a lot of privacy so should probably be for couples rather than families or friends. The rooms are also up flights of stairs which might be difficult for anyone with mobility issues, though the hotel will help with luggage as needed. Not issues that affected our stay but something travelers might want to know. We had a wonderful stay!

The room is fine. It's old furniture and a bit weird, but it has charm. The staff is excellent. The fruits for breakfast were fabulous. A common space with a piano in it is perfect. It's really possible to rest there.

I wasn't able to take a shower the first morning, as there was no cold (!) water. It was fixed, but it took some time from my side. Keys from rooms doesn't look safe. The district in general doesn't look safe as well. Alarm wasn't turned off, so at 12 pm I woke up and I thought it's fire alarm. Breakfast lacks healthy food selections.

This is an old Victorian Inn with all that old-style charm. The owner Marty greeted me and showed me around when I arrived, including the history of the street through the old photos. My room at the back was quiet, no street noise. Breakfast is superb, with great coffee, quiches, fruit & yogurt, and all-day coffee/ tea service. Large front rooms downstairs to relax or read during the day. Be prepared to climb stairs to your room but that's exercise! The neighborhood is Latino and has plenty of good restaurants. I highly recommend Limon, Peruvian, half block away.

My room (36) had windows on 3 sides so it was a bit cold. There was a heater which was almost up to the task but not quite big enough.

Environment. I loved the atmosphere and especially the portraits of George and Martha Washington. The Inn had a slowed down feel and was rich in character.

I would have appreciated a desk, even a small space for a laptop along with a comfortable work chair. I would have also appreciated air conditioning. Even though I loved the rich atmosphere, if I had known beforehand that there was no air conditioner I wouldn't have stayed at the Inn, and will likely not stay again. It's unfortunate because I enjoyed the surroundings. My last concern was the nudity present in the old photograph in the attendants office space. I was uncomfortable speaking with the attendant with that in the background.

This hotel is a real hidden treasure, it's like stepping into the past, but with all of the amenities. We always try to stay in the Mission when we are in SF and for years we were in AirBnBs. I can't believe we had been missing out on this place! We had the smallest room, but it was fine for us since we were out and about all day, and there are plenty of cozy spots to relax in the hotel or in the garden. The rooftop views of the city are a total luxury, the breakfast was fantastic, and we really can't say enough good things about this place. We didn't want to leave.

Inn San Francisco is a real hidden gem. It may be slightly outside the 'touristy' areas of San Francisco, but it's easy to get back and forth on the city buses. In return for this slight distance, we had a large and beautiful family room, with lots of old-fashioned decor and thoughtful touches. The included breakfast was absolutely superb - one of the best we've had in any small hotel around the world. Many thanks to the staff for their warm hospitality.
