Union Hotel

Hostel was clean, beds were clean, toilets, showers were clean too. Sheets and towels were provided. Lots of connections to BART lines and MUNI lines. The service people were really nice

The location is dangerous, however the hostel appears to have good security. The hostel smells odd, but you get used to it after the first day.

Close to train station, private room, hot shower, housekeeping very good. Hotel is older so room was ice cold-good for sleeping (I work nights) but I had 2 extra blankets of my own. Mission District has excellent Mexican food & breakfast next door at Martha’s was amazing! Other reviews mentioned “bad area”…it’s SF! There are homeless EVERYWHERE, most are harmless and I am a single female and felt safe. Street vendors and church worship held on the corner and fresh markets across the street.

Pillows were lumpy and sheets were a little dingy & didn’t smell fresh but overall clean. Housekeeping knocking on door to give me new towels everyday when I was trying to sleep-but that was just them doing their job although I would’ve reused my towels for a few days.

It was a small clean room minutes from Bart Metro Station.

It was all good no dislikes.

. The neighborhood isn’t great at night.. there are homeless right outside of the hotel. I wish we had a private bathroom. No complaints other than that.

No sinks in the bathroom, only in your room. So after you use the toilet, you have to walk back to your room in order to wash your hands. It would be nice to have a fridge in the room, but since this is a very cheap price, I understand why they might not have it.

For the cheap rate, I was not sure what to expect, and I was glad to see it was definitely not a sketchy place. The hotel was well-maintained, clean, and safe. A bathroom was always available, and I only had to wait a short time for the shower. The staff appeared to be a family business and were great. If you have questions about the city, feel free to ask.

The bed was a little hard for my comfort. A hand towel would've been nice, but they did supply two sets of washcloths and bath towels.

The room was better than I expected because it had a window, a TV, and a sink with a mirror. The room was clean and towels were provided. The hotel and neighbors were quiet and there are amazing food places very close. Public transit is very easily accessible from here too!

I didn't like that the shower was shared. Since it was shared, shower slippers should be provided. I also didn't like how old the building was, like it was deteriorating (may need some renovations). There are lots of homeless that may yell a bit at night and in the morning, but they mainly keep to themselves so it was okay.

A few meters from public transport, room was bigger than I expected, clean, warm and cozy and super quiet (depending on the other hotel guests of course). Free coffee and microwave for common use. Supermarket and restaurants just around the corner. Good wifi.

There are two toilets and one shower on each floor for common use, whereas I never waited too long though. My room was next to the toilet, so at night I woke up by the light shining into my room or the noise of the door.

The hotel is simple, but I had great sleep there, the shared bathroom and toilet were always super clean, and the staff was helpful and always very correct. Though there are a lot of homeless people around the hotel, I never had any issues even returning late night. You need a few days to get accustomed, but this is a lively area in San Francisco.

The room and hotel were very clean and comfortable. I think it would benefit them to change their name from a hotel to a hostel since they offer shared bathrooms. They are located in a very intense two blocks of the city but once you walk for a block or two the area eases up and is not quite as intense. It felt very safe to come in and out of. We stayed for two nights and had a really great view from the third floor. They open the hallway doors so there is fresh air flowing throughout. You smell delicious food cooking from either the hotel owners or the surrounding restaurants, either way its lovely. I used to live in the East Bay and was visiting town for a concert, this hotel had a great location to get around the city and to the airport. We walked from the Chase Center back to the hotel on a Saturday night and I felt fairly safe with our walk. Things get dicey the closer you get to Jolene's bar and the Mission in general but seeing as we were a group I felt okay.
