Riu Plaza Fisherman's Wharf

The hotel is very nice. The staff is super friendly and professional. The room is nice and clean. They have a lot of choices for the breakfast which is included with the stay. The pool is clean and warm. I love the pillows- all of them are soft and big, which helped my sleep the most during the trip. I also like the location, its very close by to almost everything that I liked to see, do and explored like boat tours, sea lion, cable car, union square, shopping at pier 39, live music, crap stations, very good food at local stands and restaurants with walking distant.

I stayed for 5 nights total. My most uncomfortable was that My room was next to the big road which was very noisy at night and day time all the time which not helping with sleep or relax in the room. I did like the breakfast included with the stay, however the way it set up was not always convenience, like my friend and I have to be there together to eat at the same time- which she is a night owl and prefers to have late breakfast while Im an early bird and wanted to have early breakfast. The time my friend and I were there, we wished that they had an indoor pool instead of the heated outdoor pool. due to the wind was so strong and the weather was cold, we couldn’t enjoy it.

This hotel was fantastic. The hotel is the first hotel since we have been travelling around usa for a month that is working so hard to offer their guest everything that we used to get pre covid. This is the first hotel that as given us room service and an absolutely fantastic breakfast on real plates with real cutlery. So many hotels are not even attempting to offer any services and are doing some very contradictory things. The rui san Francisco is doing great. Lovely staff. Lovely clean rooms. Secure onsite parking. Lovely breakfast. Good location. If an hotel can work so hard to offer us this service at the present time I wont stay anywhere else when we come to San Francisco in future. All I can say is thank you for making the San Francisco part of our road trip feel just like travel used to and a big welldone.

Great location, clean and spacious. Breakfast was amazing.

The Hotel is in a good location to Pier 39 and other Fisherman wharf attractions. The room was a nice size and the view was good. We were on the 4th floor and could see the middle to top of the transatlantic and some of the city buildings. The out door fire places were nice due to how cold it was even in July. Windy and in the low 60. The offer of water bottles when checking in and through out the day was nice.

Not enough Hotel info in the rooms to show what and where available. If we would have known the pool was as warm as it was we might have used it. Although it is still covid the breakfast could have been better.

Parking was easily accessible. Room was nice and roomy. Blackout shades were great. In-room coffee was better than expected. Location is 5 minute walk from Fishermans wharf, Boudins bread (see photo), Musee Mecanique, and other attractions we love. Worth the transportation required to get to Muir Woods and Oracle Park for Giants games. (see photos)

Signs needed at curb of check-in to advise where/how to park for check-in. Otherwise security shouldn't be rude to my wife when she stays with the car pulled over to the side of the lane while I check in. Check-in should include details about breakfast and operating the elevators. Once we learned how to scan card for elevator floor access and learned both of us have to be at breakfast at the same time, and only then can we get coffee, all was fine. But finding out those things on our own was frustrating!

Location of hotel was fabulous, the staff was excellent, room was very comfortable. Breakfast consisted of random fruit, room temp oj, a vending machine type sweet roll and little granola bar. Coffee that was included was delicious. What I didn’t expect was a $100 PER NIGHT security deposit, and $50 A DAY to park on site. These two items for me cost me more than double my initial room charge. These were not made evident to guests prior to booking. Myself along with the other several guests checking in when I did were all very surprised. I feel for the hotel staff because they are seen as the “bad guy” in this situation although it is completely out of their control. Please make sure and pre plan for extra expenses so you’re more prepared than I was

Most all of the staff was friendly and helpful. The location worked for us, as it was within walking distance of many areas. The breakfast line was long, but moved very fast and efficiently.

NO Coffee Bar - was terribly disappointed in not being able to take coffee to my room. Asked for Togo coffee at breakfast - told no - asked for creamer to use with room coffee - told no - to ask guest services. Guest services was somewhat less than happy to bring me creamer each morning and even slightly rude and impatient with my daily requests. I am more than willing to get my own coffee, if there was somewhere to get it. No smart TV was also disappointing - would have loved to log into Netflix to wind down each evening. Those two things were the only negatives.

The breakfasts were lovely. So much choice! The swimming pool was nice to have in the hot weather on a city break. It was a very safe area. We could walk to everything eg fisherman’s wharf, Pier 39, the Alcatraz ferry, china town, north bay. Great restaurants all around.

Only small things. Our stay was great.The air conditioning was loud and cold if you were the one sleeping next to it. The swimming pool needed more sun beds and less chairs but we still managed ok. A pool bar would have been a nice touch for such an expensive hotel. Netflix would have been nice as we had had it at every other hotel on our American road trip.

Breakfast is not just a classic continental; it's complete with meat, healthy choice, and pastries. The seating process is fast to accommodate a busy crowd, but the food must be eaten in the cafe and should not be taken to your room. The seating outside the lobby is cozy and perfect for cocktail. Location is convenient; I booked this hotel because I don't want using public restroom in the city, so when I'm at the wharf, I could easily be back to my own private restroom.

You need to put a magnifying mirror in the restroom. The vanity in the restroom has a gap between the wall, thus my cosmetics kept on falling in between the cavity. I had to use a hanger to reach and pick it up.

Location was great for us, close to pier 39 and in walking distance to plenty of sightseeing spots. Room was comfortable, though a little crammed. Shower pressure was great and water hot. Coffee maker was a nice touch. We had breakfast included in the stay and were very happy with the staff, food selection, cleanliness and quality.

The price of parking. Ouch. San Francisco is crazy expensive, but it was good to feel our car was somewhat safe even if it's still in a public lot. Our room could also do with a bit of a deel clean. I moved the bedside table to get something I had dropped and behind was completely caked in dust, years worth...and I had to wipe long hairs off the shower wall when we got into the room. But everything else was clean enough.
