SW Hotel

We did not use the parking option. However: -safe & convenient location in Chinatown -clean hotel (nice lobby) -somehow, we never had to wait for the elevator from the lobby or the fourth floor (it was quick and just there waiting for us it seemed) -cheapest room in SF with its own bathroom -writing desk with note pad -closet with iron & ironing board -armchair & nightstand -AC was COLD -shower water was HOT -TV armoire with mini fridge -soap & shampoo smelled really good (brought them back with us) -optional anti-slip mat in the bathroom, if needed (rolled up under the sink) -perfect amount of towels + extra toilet paper -ice bucket provided -bed was firm (a little too firm for my liking, but I was exhausted from all the walking anyway and knocked out fast) -extra blanket in the armoire

The only con would be the fridge was a little stinky and not cold. but it was fine, we didn’t have a reason to use the fridge anyway. I’m sure if we did, we probably could have asked the front desk person to see about switching it out. We saw two different staff members during our weekend stay, and they were both very helpful.

Great location, very quiet and clean hotel inside, such a relief from the hustle and bustle of Chinatown. Very secure hotel. Very close to restaurants and a small grocery store in Chinatown. The room was a good size. It was also way cheaper than most hotels close to the Moscone convention center, it is about a 25 minute walk and the walk is safe (I walk along Kearny st. to 3rd st. to get to the convention center). The elevator goes to the 4th floor quick! The bed is on the firm side but I find it comfortable. Staff is super awesome and friendly.

The walls are very thin and you can clearly hear and understand your next-door neighbor. (I don't mind it because I sleep easy). You can also hear the elevator dings if your room is close to the elevator. Reviews mentioned there was no coffee maker or hot water for beverages, or a microwave, but I don't mind that. Also, don't shower with your bathroom door open because your fire alarm will go off because of the steam lol

Without a doubt the cleanest building I’ve ever set foot in, period. Absolutely nothing has been updated since 1994, so it was like a perfectly pristine time capsule. Im sure some people dislike the aesthetic, but I thought it was charming. It was quiet, staff were very kind, professional and responsive, and everything was fastidiously maintained, from the baseboards to the shower head. They even have their own PARKING. In SF! Amazing.

The only thing that comes to mind is the bed. Comfortable, but the frame might be the loudest in existence. Simply sitting on it gave me anxiety, it was so loud!

This was my 2nd stay at the hotel and the experience was even better than the first time due to the location of the allocated room and no more noises from the outside shops at night. SW Hotel’s location is very convenient as it is in Chinatown that you are able to walk to the different places of interests. From the Stockton St, turn left through the tunnel to union square, the shopping district or turn right to fisherman wharf and coit tower etc. You can also walk to famous food places like the good Mong Kok bakery for dim sum, Sotto mare, Mamas on Washington St and Liquria Bakery for the super yummy focaccia bread! The senior staff of the hotel are also friendly and helpful.

Need to bring your own travel flask to boil hot water for tea and coffee.

The location is great. We had easy walking access to uptown and the train or down to the Embarcadaro--once you figure out how to avoid the "worst" of the hills, it is all walkable. We have stayed in SF before but along the wharf so it was interesting to experience the City and Chinatown. Bed made every morning without disturbing personal items. We knew what we wanted to do and had reservations for tours, etc. No meals/food at property due to Covid. (I am home and miss that bed-making routine!) Photos saved to Google Photos, which I cannot find from here....

The front desk staff was extremely welcoming and made my check in process and stay over all very pleasant! The parking was affordable, easy to access and very secure. Room was comfy, clean and had great AC for the hot weather. Location was only 10-20 mins from everywhere we wanted to go in the city.

The only issue we had was a non-working mini fridge. I did call ahead to make sure there was a fridge in our room and was assured that there was. We did have one, but it did not work. We tried talking to the cleaning/maintenance staff and they took a look but it was still never fixed. Bit of a disappointment since we did have snacks, drinks and medication that needed to be refrigerated.

Ease of walking to Pier 39,Coit tower and Chinatown. Clean rooms, super quiet and front desk staff was so accommodating of our early check-in.

No tea or coffee in room, but that is literally the only complaint I have and even it doesn't matter much because its so close to any and every kind of tea and coffee you can walk to.

Spacious room and bathroom situated in a great, safe neighbourhood. Staff were super friendly and even able to accommodate an earlier check-in. The hotel was very quiet. Appreciated having a mini fridge. Would highly recommend this hotel to anyone staying in San Francisco.

The thermostat didn't seem to work but they did provide an extra blanket.

Superb location between Italian area and Chinatown. Loads of excellent bars, restaurants and cafes within a 5 minute walk. Both areas felt very safe to walk around in. Open top bus tour passed across the road. Excellent location to explore San Francisco from.

No tea or coffee facilities in room

The location is in the middle of the Chinese area. There are a lot of restaurants around. Dinner was always very well. Italian quarter is also close. Only some minutes to walk to the Big Bus station. Location is ver central.

Chinese breakfast possibilities nearby didn't meet our expectations.
