This Hotel is beautiful as always and it is in a great location. There is a coffee house right across the street and plenty of restaurants and shopping on Third, Fourth, and Fifth Street. Plus the Plaza is only a few blocks away. I also became sick while there (not Coronavirus) and had to go to the ER and I was not sure when I would return and the staff were more than accommodating to keep my belongings if I did not make it back in time.

I feel horrible complaining about anything considering the kindness but I sort of wish there were curtains for the blinds. I was in the carriage house and there was a bright light right outside the door that I did not have the option of turning off. It disrupted my sleep.

quiet, historic, good location for walking and exploring old town and downtown, good , interesting restaurant downstairs! Front desk staff was WONDERFUL! I was staying there because my daughter was laboring and eventually delivering at a nearby hospital; their home was 45 mins away and our home 2-3 hours away. The front desk worked with me as I booked one day at a time extending my stay as her labor continued and some complications arose! They gave me late check out as I awaited word from the hospital, I was so grateful for their kindness!!!

The room was spacious and the bed was very comfy. Free parking on the other side of the street, and we were given the opportunity to park our rented e-bikes inside.

The staff that received us did not seem to have an idea what she was doing, and gave the idea she was a bit bored. The overall feel of the hotel was a little dated, although that also was part of its charm. If you need to be in Santa Rosa, the location is quite ok, but I would not necessarily recommend Sant Rosa as the best place to stay when you are in the area for the purpose of discovering the wine country. For that, I'd recommend Healdsburg, a little to the north.

Noon check out time! Plus the staff was super helpful in offering me an extension in case my medical appointment went long. Nice to have sitting areas and an attached restaurant. Santa Rosa's visitor center is across the street. Folks there were incredibly kind and helpful as well.

Local parking is metered 9-6 with 3 hours max (not the hotel's fault, of course). Hotel offers parking for 15$ as well. Beds have fluffy soft top mattresses, some people love these.

The hotel was located in a pleasant historic area across from a park. The room was in a separate gated section across the street from the hotel proper. It was modern, clean, quiet and comfortable. The enclosed garden area was landscaped and beautifully flowered. Breakfast was not included in the price. I asked if there were any discounts for the attached restaurant and received a coupon. Noshery items were delicious.

One reason I booked the hotel was its desciption as a historic building, and I anticipated a room reflecting that history. I still don't know if the main hotel was restored to a previous elegance. I never got a receipt detailing charges, but I suspect that booking.com added a substantial fee. I regret not calling the hotel directly.

Location is nice. Across the street is a wonderful coffee roaster/shop: Aroma. Downstairs in the hotel is a nice cafe/pub. Down the street several choices of restaurants. Centrally located in Santa Rosa and close to shopping. The hotel has two foot thick rock walls and our room was so very quiet. We were on the second floor and the 101 Freeway just a couple blocks away: could not hear a bit of noise. Loved it.

The TV was small and across a day room. Seating in the day room was dated and not all that comfortable. No modern upgrades in the bathroom or electronic plug ins: bring your wall brick to plug into sockets.

This hotel is a stylish 'grande dame' from a bygone era, kept in immaculate condition. Built in 1907 by Italian stone masons, I believe it is in the National Register of Historic Places. I had visited Santa Rosa several times but never ventured into the Old Town, where Hotel La Rose is located on Historic Railroad Square. I can imagine a time when fashionably dressed Edwardian era travellers would arrive by train with their steamer trunks to check into the majestic Hotel La Rose across the street from the station. What a discovery! Attracted by the reasonable price and high rating on Booking.com, I never expected to have such a wonderful stay in this exquisite hotel. Don't be deceived by the references to the 'dark wood décor' into thinking it's a gloomy place -- not at all! On the contrary, I was surprised by the bright and airy feeling in every room. The furnishings, while remaining true to the period, all seemed relativey new, and the bathroom finishings were likewise in immaculate condition, with bright new gold fixtures. I cannot say enough about this marvellous old hotel, withing easy walking distance of the bus terminal and the Smart train.

The Grossman restaurant associated with the hotel -- billed as a "noshery and bar" -- is a lovely place with a menu that you would expect to find an a typical New York deli. Serving breakfast, lunch and dinner from 7 a.m. till 9 p.m., they also have a popular full bar. The friendly neon sign on a wall bids you 'Shalom' -- which should have been a clue to me not to expect bacon and eggs for breakfast here. Nevertheless, there are so many other delicious alternatives and traditional favorites that I really have no complaints whatsoever.

Staff was very nice, bottled water was a nice touch.

Plenty of room in the downstairs lobby for breakfast, yet no breakfast served. Could also do a complimentary wine and cheese happy hour down in the lobby—the alcohol license for this for hotels is relatively easy to get in California. With no other hospitality provided (not even free parking), thought hotel could do more to set itself apart from other properties in downtown Santa Rosa and encourage repeat business.

historical property and charm

On the 3 rd floor the hot water from the shower would switch to cold water w/o touching controls. This happen to me on both mornings. My wife had no problems taking a shower earlier between 7-7:30am. But at 8am ish after 3 mins into my shower water went cold. Tried to make it hotter. This helped the first day and didn't work the second day. Reported to staff. An odd problem. I don't take long showers due to the drought. 5 mins' max.
