La Quinta by Wyndham Ft. Myers - Sanibel Gateway

The hotel staff were very friendly and very helpful. The hotel itself has just been updated and the rooms were comfortable, quiet and had many USB ports to accommodate all our electronics. The bed was comfortable. The bathroom was new and had a nice walk-in shower.

The breakfast was only cereal and muffins, but you could eat in the dining room. ( I guess with covid, you can't expect much more.) We had one little problem. The first evening, ( we stayed 3 nights), we didn't have hot water. It wasn't cold, but it was not hot. The front desk said give us 10 minutes and it will be all right. It was. However, during the three night stay, we had reoccurring problems with the hot water. The staff was very helpful, but I had to talk with them almost every day about this.

location and price

I called the hotel before I booked the room to ensure that they had a working treadmill. I was told that the work out room had just reopened and all of the equipment was working. I asked again upon arrival and was told the same information. The next morning I obtained the key to the gym from the front desk. None of the equipment was working. I returned to the desk and was then told that due to Covid the equipment was not yet working. Our number one priority in selecting a place to stay is a treadmill. Needless to say that we were more than disappointed to learn that we were lied to.

The room was big and spacious with lots of storage. fridge was a great size for dietary needs. It was quiet. The only thing I wish was better...was the breakfast. Was kind of hoping for eggs, toast, bacon....an actual breakfast. Only had muffins. Had to eat out for breakfast every day. Otherwise the hotel was exactly what I needed and was great!!

The staff was nothing short then amazing. The gentleman who checked us in was funny, friendly and happy! He was extremely helpful and gave us areas to check out while in town. We did need to switch rooms because there was an odor, and no TV remote. He switched us within minutes! No fuss, and over the top service. The pool was amazing, open and large enough not to get over crowded.

Only a few things I feel like could be improved, to the breakfast bar adding fresh fruit and oatmeal with additional toppings, like cranberries, almonds, brown sugar. And some turkey/chicken sausage, and some gluten free items also. In the room, add additional hooks for towels in the bathroom, and new pillows or add additional pillows to the bed. Allow the pool to be open later than 8pm.

The price was good.

They need to renovate the entire building because the rooms look nice inside but the buildings outside looks old. The guest's behaviors feels like they are under the influence any type of substance just like the staff members. The place is creepy and it feels like anybody can hurt you. The place is isolated and sort of feels like a horror house in the middle of the desert. It's a beautiful place but needs to be in better care. In the booking app the pictures of the hotel looks like the place can be a 4 star hotel but because there is no maintenance it can look like a two star hotel.

It was very busy when we were checking in, but Phota did a wonderful job, staying cheery, and getting everyone organized quickly. We really liked the sliding barndoor into the bathroom, and the very bright square framed lights. There were many people using the pool, but it was very large and could have accommodated more. Breakfast was very good and we had a choice of eating inside or out in a screened patio.

Our only major issue is the fact that there were no grab bars in the tub, which we found to be a safety concern. Also, the room was a little dark, so one more corner light would have been helpful.

Updated and very clean and a great location!!

I left a new Columbia jacket in the closet and called as soon as I noticed. The desk guy that answered the phone said the cleaning crew was in an emergency meeting. He said he would call me back and didn't. I called again and the lady that answered said nothing was turned in. We are pretty certain a guy died in the room next to us while we were there. Notes and flowers were left outside the window. When we inquired we were told that they were looking into it. I'm not sure they even knew until we asked. A do not disturb sign was put on the door and the air was turned down so much that there was condensation on the window for the remainder of our stay.

The rooms were beautiful and looked like they were newly renovated. Everything was very clean and the bed was very comfortable. I was actually surprised at how nice the room was. The pool was very nice also with plenty of loungers around and patio areas to sit. This hotel exceeded my expectations of what I’d normally expect the quality of this level of hotel to be. I have no complaints about my stay.

The only thing that could have used some improvements was the continental breakfast. Overall it was just fine, seemingly due to covid, options for breakfast needed to be individually wrapped for the most part which left options of yogurts, packaged muffins and danishes, instant oatmeal, Del Monte fruit cups, occasionally oranges or bananas, and cereal as well as coffee and orange juice.

The pool was great, staff was great only downside was location because everything in the area was still closed down from last year’s hurricane. I was expecting some lingering damage but I didn’t expect the area to be so bad. We had to travel to Naples area to do everything.

Complimentary breakfast

There were no working ice machines in the building I was in. I had to walk over to rgr next building. There was a dead bug upon arrival in the restroom and dead bugs in the bathtub. The motor on the mini fridge was extremely loud and disruptive. There was a price increase during the stay. I don't think the cost matched the quality of the facility.
