Kimpton - Hotel Palomar South Beach, an IHG Hotel

Beautiful hotel in a good location. Not too far to walk to the beach, 10-15 minutes and very close to the Lincoln Road Mall which was great. We liked the wine hour between 5-6pm. This isn't well publicised but I think all Kimpton hotels offer it, and it was very welcome.

We booked a harbour view room, and naturally I expected to see a few boats from the window, instead our view was of a storage facility. The room did face in the direction of the harbour but it could not been seen. This is misleading. However, the room was lovely and it had a lovely outdoor patio area that we made good use of. It would have been nice to see a few boats bobbing about on the water though.

Lack of complimentary water provision for guests. it’s a very small expense to provide complimentary water bottles per room per night. pls don’t cut corners for basic essentials

The staff was not the nicest to be honest and did not speak English very well. I asked them to charge 1 card for security deposit and another card for the actual stay (as I get points for the stay). They messed it up and charged the wrong card. They also said they will send me an email receipt afterwards and they did not. I also requested a late checkout (just 1h after the checkout time) and they said it will be 55$. While I understand that it's at a discretion of the hotel, but it was annoying that they didn't even try to accommodate me and just quoted me a price right away.

The staff were great. The front desk person went out of her way to accommodate our early arrival. We were staying at the hotel because of close proximity to Mt. Sinai Medical Center and arrived on an overnight flight too early to visit our loved one at the Medical Center and too early for check in. We called the hotel and the lady answering told us to come right over and put us in a room immediately. It gave us a chance to get a couple of hours of sleep before heading to Mt. Sinai. I will never forget that kindness and also later moving us to a handicap accessible room because we needed a safer bathroom.

The ADA accessible room lacked a table to eat at and the bathroom lacked a place to put toiletries. The shower itself was extremely tight.

Great rooftop pool area! Loved the complimentary transportation service offered, and Denise the driver was amazing!!! Staff was great and very accommodating.

Bathroom set up was a little strange, no door on shower, which wasn’t such a big deal other than the whole bathroom was wet anytime anyone took a shower. Also not enough hooks in bathroom to hang up towels, which was hard with shower and beach/pool towels, wet swimsuits. The property overall was nice, but was very worn looking…carpet in hallways, outdoor furniture at pool, etc.

Everything in this hotel was very nice and clean. The location was great close to the beach. Staff were very friendly. In general I was totally impressed with this place and I will be there for the next trip.

The room was cleaned without issue when requested every day. The valet app was easy to use and service was timely for every request.

There weren't any food services or breakfast provided. The hotel didn't have a microwave on the premises according to the staff. The pool area was not "attended" and no cocktail or food services were available at the rooftop pool area. I left a pair of Bose earphones in the room by mistake at checkout and they were not returned.

The rooms were lovely and the rooftop pool was also very nice. The idea of the wine hour was great.

Their was no food/beverage service by the pool. The QR code would not work on my phone. I would prefer tea/coffee to be complimentary in the rooms. I also requested something to be brought up to the room and it was never brought up. The beds could also be slightly more comfier .

The cleanliness and the smell. It smelled so good, I was tempted to ask staff what they use so I can get some for my house. Lol. I also loved the location. Although it's not a beach side hotel, it was close to all the nightlife...... restaurants, bars, coffee shops, grocery store, liquor store. Everything I needed.

I was a little disappointed with the rooftop bar. It could have been a little more lively and entertaining. The bar was always vacant looking. There weren't any bottles or anything that invited me to buy a drink. Just a guy behind a white counter. That's basically all it was. There wasn't any music either.

The room was nice and the location worked well for us. The restaurant was great and it was nice to have the small discount as a hotel guest. We really enjoyed the pool. We stayed Sun-Wed and it was never too busy. We requested housekeeping and they came daily.

The shuttle to the beach was a bit confusing and only runs Thur-Sun. We walked the other days (about 20 min) which wasn’t an issue for us but clearer information on the beach shuttle would have been helpful. We also were disappointed that the pool bar wasn’t open. It seems to only be open on weekends but the sign/menu said daily. The balconies are nice but our neighbors were a bit loud and the noise carried easily.
