Kauai Palms Hotel

This was my second time staying a Kauai Palms Hotel. It is a great location and locally owned/operated. There is a lot to do near the hotel itself if you do not have any tours or a rental car. They have rooms for everyone. We stayed in a standard twin room without a kitchenette this time around, but last time we booked a suite with a kitchenette, so there is a range depending on what you are looking for. The overall hotel's design is also awesome. It's supposed to be reminiscent of old Hawai'i. I am glad it does not have the oversized resort look and feel.

I cannot think of anything I really disliked about this place. It had everything we needed for our stays both times. If we return to Kaua'i, then I plan on booking them again, if they have availability.

This is an older well kept hotel with a Hawaii vibe. Hotel prices in Kauai are high. We spent almost the same amount for nicer hotels on the other islands. Location is good, staff very nice and helpful. Parking is good. Coffee is GREAT! We stayed 4 days instead of 2 because our plans changed. If you're on a tight budget, this hotel fits the bill. Restaurants within walking distance. My special needs son loved the cat Mango and of course chickens/roosters thru-out Hawaii.

NO AMENITIES, streaming television. Cable available?????? but wasn't able to get it??? So no live news or football games. (we all have our priorities!!) Twin beds room very small. Thankfully table and chairs right outside our door for space. Coffee available all day/evening but breakfast coffee is at 7am. (fresh)

We had an unexpected delightful surprise. We had been talking about understanding the history better and when we mentioned that to Ron, the property manager, he let us know we were in the right place. He is a local historian and does presentations about the culture and history of Kauai. He not only has a 3 ring binder filled with informative information, but he has displays of tools, weapons and other interesting artifacts right in the lobby. He is very passionate about it and a great presenter. This really adds to the charm of the place. Ask him, he'll fill you in and it's very interesting!

Beds could be more comfortable

The staff made up for anything missing from the room! From the very first Aloha to the last Mahalo for staying, the staff made this hotel fantastic. Our car battery died and a staff member had a tool to get us going again. Saved our day! From extra towels to coffee maker and 'where should we eat', they were fantastic. Oh and the hotel cat! Love him! such a love bug. Although the hotel is in a neighborhood, it wasn't too loud... except the island roosters ha! Perfect location right in the middle of the North and South side of the island. Room was clean, bed was ... okay but clean so that's a plus in any hotel!

really... nothing at all! except the cockroach right before we left. But being raised in Hawaii in the 60-70's.... was something to laugh about really haha

In a convenient location close to the airport, the Kauai Palms hotel was nestled in a quiet neighborhood with a great view. The room was very clean and checking in was straightforward.

Nothing bad, just a few pointers: you’ll be getting what you pay for with a basic hotel room and amenities. The chicken calls in the morning are a staple of kauai but the walls are thin so you’ll hear all the guests as well. If you’re looking for a room with AC, this room only comes with an off-centered fan (one side of the bed is cooled more than the other).

Good location: 5 min from the airport, 8 min from Kalapaki beach, easy to access either North or Sourh shore of the island. The construction feel more like a beach house and more "authentic" than all the big hotels, but it would need a coat of paint or just some refreshing.

Very poor wifi. No luggage rack in the room, so you have to put your luggage on the floor. Laundry service and coffee not offered due to covid. Bathroom was a little moldy and VERY tiny. Room is advertised as mountain view. I guess it was the case at some point, but now you see only the huge palm trees that are next to the balcony.

We were looking for an inexpensive place for one night before checking into the timeshare. Kauai Palms was on the list of inexpensive hotels so we didn’t have high expectations. We were very pleasantly surprised and impressed!! Very quaint, cozy, comfortable and had a lot of character! Will DEFINITELY book here again, probably INSTEAD of the timeshare!!

There was some construction equipment and lumber just outside our cottage, but trust me, it did not detract from our stay once we went inside.

They close the desk at 8-9 pm. We came in late and a lockbox was there for us with the key. Text received with code for lockbox with receipt. Clean through out & tight in bathroom but perfect for 1 night. We saved a lot more than the cost of 1 night at Kauai Palms versus flying one day earlier then our timeshare reservation was ready.

No elevator. Garbage truck and cock crowing early in the morning. Typhoon Iniki released many chickens years ago. Chickens every where.

We stayed here 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. The staff are amazing and Ron, the general manager, is a true gem. If you get a chance, ask for Ron to “ talk story” with you. You can find out the history and legends of Kaua’i along with seeing many interesting artifacts. You will also hear about many fascinating sites to visit during your stay. We learned so much about Kaua’i and the Hawaiian islands. Ron was entertaining and very knowledgeable and kept us engaged and interested. Hotel room is vintage, is very clean and has everything you need. We were able to drop our suitcase off early and explore the island the day we arrived. Lots of people here from different European countries during our stay. Great food options a couple blocks away and the brewery even has 4 ounce sample sizes so you can try several of their different beers in one sitting. Thanks Ron for imparting some of your knowledge to us. We loved our stay and hope to be back again. Mahalo!

A great value in a perfect location. We wanted something that was affordable, but not necessarily so cheap that it sacrificed comfort. This hotel was just what we were looking for. They were a short drive from the Lihue airport and just a short walk from some great restaurants and businesses in Lihue. It's also a short drive or bike ride to the beach. We rented a car to see the whole island, and we were so glad we did! The hotel offers free parking along with free WiFi and coffee (basic amenities only). I opted for the room with the kitchenette which also included A/C (which was much needed). Yes, there are roosters that will probably wake you (as many other reviewers mention), but they are literally everywhere on the island, so no matter where you stay, you will probably hear them. We brought ear plugs and ran the A/C for white noise and we slept great; the bed here was very cozy. I also really appreciated that check-in was made easy and every time I talked to the front desk (for extra coffee/towels), they were so friendly and helpful.

We found two (huge) cockroaches in our room, but they were already dead, and I'm not sure if they are just more common in this type of climate. The showerhead was also pretty moldy. Other than that, I was really happy with my experience!
