The hotel was attractive and lively. The downstairs bar was a nice place to relax, and there were lots of things to do. The rooms were simple and clean.

Being double charged. I paid upfront through booking.com. My friend arrived earlier than me so during check-in she used her card for incidentals. Except her card was charged for the room, too. We wouldn't have known had my friend not checked her card. I had to send the hotel my booking.com info and, in principle, my friend should get a refund 3-5 days after the hotel has confirmed with booking.com. But that sucked. Truly.

First impressions matter. As soon as you walk in, you're struck by the decor of the hotel. Very trendy/retro/Euro with friendly staff. The decor translated to our room, which had a comfortable bed and great water pressure in the shower. We liked the fact that the hotel bar and front desk were one and the same. They gave us chips for a free cocktail ("The Moxy") which was delicious. At night, the bar had a DJ spinning disco and house music which gave the whole area a hopping nightclub vibe. The view from our room looking up at the Chicago skyline was gorgeous, especially at sunrise and after sunset. One night we did a grab-and-go of their in-house restaurant, Zombie Tacos... tasty! The hotel's location was perfect. Short walk to the CTA red and blue lines where you can connect to basically anywhere in the city, including the O'Hare airport.

Couldn't really find much that we didn't like. Maybe add a bathtub to the rooms? Maybe a slightly lower rate? Maybe have happy hour and Saturday and Sunday as well as Mon-Fri? Maybe offer a special by-appointment-only shuttle service to the airport?

The room was certainly big enough, and I enjoyed the floor to ceiling window, and the view out into the city. The location was downtown, close to the subway, and given what the price was for the surrounding hotels, this was well worth it.

No closets, no coffee maker, and no facility to make coffee in the room. Lack of an iron and board, but I understand there is was a communal area for that if you wanted. I enjoyed the view out, over the roadway, but if you find it difficult to sleep, you'd be better off with one of the internal rooms.

The hotel was perfectly suited for our 6-day stay in Chicago. It's very well situated with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby, but also within walking distance to major landmarks. You can find lots of fun activities (shuffleboard and other games) at the hotel itself, it has a very lively vibe with a bar, taco joint and DJs on weekend nights. The room was well equipped with a hairdryer, steamer, shampoos and conditioners. The bed was comfy with some amazing pillows.

The room was on the smaller side (by European standards) but that didn't impede our comfort too much. The shower had a slight smell of mildew.

Funky little place. I had a room facing the inner walls: perfect for a quiet night (maybe claustrophobic for longer). Really impressed by how creatively the rooms have been designed. Just a great vibe from the lobby on up. And slept wonderfully well. A superbly executed concept. And you are right by a ton of great bars and restaurants and the river.

If there was a fridge, safe and kettle in the room this would be perfection. Not sure why at least the kettle can’t be done. Seems a saving too far.

Great location, vibrant bar in the evening with lots of comfy seating and solid people watching.

What's up w the boutique hotel obsession with no place to hang your towels? So we threw our towels over the glass door to the shower. Classy look that clashes w the hipster decor. TV had a QR code so you could use your phone to control the TV...it never worked. Thank goodness for the remote. The hallway had a mini-fridge and ironing board hanging out in it for a couple days. Great if you wanted to iron and drink a bev in the hallway I guess. And another hotel that says "Have a drink on us!" at check-in and give you 'free drink' tokens that are only good for maybe 2% of items on the drink menu. Sends the wrong message. And at this price point, that's not good.

Super cool place, you do check in on a bar (how cool is that?) and it has a tex-mex restaurant on the lobby. I received an upgraded when I checked in, I really appreciated - I think they didn't know but it would be my birthday on the last day. So it was a very nice gift. The room with a view is AWESOME! The neighborhood is calm if you need to take a walk at early evening, it has bus stops and a lot of CTA station options.

Moxy is a fun, funky hotel located in a great location in River North! Can walk to some of the best restaurants, bars, shopping and places of interest. The room reminded me of my hotel stay in Milan, Italy and my view of the city was perfect. And even though my room faced the city I could not hear the traffic below. Great vibe, helpful staff, fun things and Zombie Tacos has some yummy options! I will be back for sure!

The lights next to the mirror could be brighter and there wasn’t much in the way of hot water in the shower.

The location is amazing, only two blocks away from the River Walk. The place is a whole vibe, with young people browsing the lobby/bar area from morning until night. It almost feels like hanging out at your favorite local bar instead of just being at some old boring hotel.

It can be a little overpriced. Yes, the vibe is fun but the room was below average in size and with no specific amenities. If anything, it was comfortable and felt safe.

The location is good - easy walk to downtown, and made the Moxy a useful home-base in Chicago for a few days. The bed was super comfortable, I slept well, the room was also surprisingly quiet (being above a bar, and in the city) I'm not sure if that's down to good soundproofing, or just good luck. I liked the room, it is smaller than the big corporate hotel rooms, with a shower in the room, not a huge amount of storage space, and the loo in a little water-closet off the main room - but for one person, for three nights, it was perfect.

There was nothing I didn't like. I was mildly amused by the hallways leading to the rooms, they are decked out in dark shades, industrial touches, and a slightly horror movie vibe, which I enjoyed, but may not be to everyone's taste.
