Holiday Inn Express Metropolis, an IHG Hotel

The location was wonderful, the staff was pleasant, breakfast was good.

This property was 100% non-smoking. Furthermore, our king suite room was non-smoking. We walked in our room and IMMEDIATELY smelt such a strong smell of cigarette smoke. We went up to the front desk and alerted them of this issue and they happily moved us to another king suite room. We get into that room and thankfully no smoke smell but there was a hair in the jacuzzi tub. My husband cleaned the tub himself instead of bothering the office again but it was gross. Other than that we had a great experience!

While we weren't able to take advantage of the pool, the breakfast was really good. The room had a list of the TV channels and the staff treated our dog like she was part of the family which is always nice. We only stayed one night and as more of a stopover on our way to the next place, but it was nice and while near the interstate it was far enough away from it and the other nearby businesses to not be bothered by them.

Biggest downside was that my dog and other half couldn't sleep well due to an influx of late night visitors opening and closing doors.

Very kind and friendly staff that assured we were comfortable and had everything we needed. Great breakfast with good variety, surprisingly better than what we expected. Tammy was extremely kind and helpful and detail-oriented. It was really impressive to see how well she took care of the guests and also how well she restocked the breakfast buffet. Everything was impeccable and perfectly organized and clean, causing a great impression. In the room, the sheets and towels were clean (and I’m pretty picky when it comes to cleanliness). The shower had good water pressure and temperature. I think it’s one of the cleanest properties we’ve been to recently.

Breakfast was great, close to alot of things to go and explore, staff was nice, pool and hot tub was open!

I did think the jetted tub suite would have the tub in the room and not bathroom but it was still nice I also assumed I would've been able to log into my streaming accounts for the TV but couldn't because the TV wasn't a smart TV.

The staff were very helpful and moved us to a different room when prompted due to a dog being next door. The breakfast was hot and delicious for hotel food and esp. during COVID times. The room was nice and the bed was very comfortable. Location seemed safe and there were several restaurants nearby. Easy enough drive to Paducah, KY and the Southern part of the Shawnee National Forest.

The carpet was damp in our room and it was quite humid when we entered, but this could be due to the fact that the room wasn't ready for us since we asked to switch. I was also bitten by a bug while in the room.

The hot breakfast was good and the breakfast area was kept spotless. Also, the location was perfect as it was only a few miles from the casino. Out of all the hotel reviews ThatI read for hotels in the area, this one has the best reviews.

Instructions on where the button was to start the jacuzzi in the pool area are needed. The employee working the front desk was happy to give instructions but it would be nice if it was posted.

The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was delicious! very convenient being right off the highway. They also offer complimentary toothbrushes, toothpaste etc if you forgot yours like my daughter did.

The pool was extremely small and when you walked past the dresser the drawers would open….

Friendly and helpful staff! Everything smelled new and fresh (public spaces, room). Spacious room. Clean and fresh towels and sheets. Plentiful pillows. Hot breakfast of eggs and bacon with a blueberry muffin kicked my morning off just right! Despite its removed location away from other amenities, I felt safe.

In the bathroom, the tub grout retained old mildew stains. The service road leading to the property is in need of repair (not fault of property). Although pet-friendly, the grounds weren't exactly pet accessible or well lit away from the building. For small dogs, wading through overgrown grass and weeds is challenging. Rocks and prickly ground cover around trees and shrubs presents even more challenges. I was told that there was a large grassy area in front of the hotel, but I arrived after dark, the area was not lit, and I did not want to risk stumbling around in the dark to walk my dog. In the light if day, there is a nice, large mowed lawn that is ideal.

Loved the breakfast! Nice variety of items. Area for eating was very clean and nice for visiting with others.

I think everything was fine. The staff was very friendly. The woman taking care of the kitchen made sure we had everything we needed.

Omelettes and biscuits with the gravy is pretty damn good. They got sausage links, Patties, cereal, fruit, pastry’s and that’s not all. They have way more food. The drink selection, milk, OJ. Apple juice, and much much more… very accommodating.
