Microtel Inn & Suites by Wyndham Springfield

My family and I enjoyed our stay as our original hotel canceled the day before due to a bad storm and power outage. MicroHotel came through and extended our stay day after day plus allowing us to stay in the same room which we appreciated very much. Breakfast was delicious as the waffle maker was working better after the 2nd day too, so that helped as my kiddos were pleased.

The pool could of been a lot warmer, we only lasted 10-15mins before giving up and going back to our room to take a warm bath/shower instead.

Room was nice, quiet. Breakfast was ok. Hair dryer was was missing told the desk clerk and she delivered it to room within minutes, I returned it to front desk when I checked out.

Had stayed in a Microtel several years ago, so I knew what to expect, the picture descriptions were self explanatory . I have stayed in motels across the country some are good and others bad, paid less for rooms which ended up being great and have paid more and the room was the pits. You never know what you are getting when you travel. If the staff is friendly and helpful that matters. Every traveler can find something wrong no matter what, since nothing is perfect.

I noticed many locations are using lavender or floral scent cleaning products. I am so allergic to those scents. I even mentioned I needed a scent free room. the original room had floral lavender smell. they opened the windows in room but didn’t but a dent in the smell. the front desk moved me to a smaller room and without a mini fridge. there was not a discount in price.

I liked the fact they had house keeping. We havent seen that in 3 years. staff was great.

breakfast for sure. they need more luggage carts 1 is not enough. the pool was so small why even bother. I gave them a low score on value $199.00 per night was expensive plus $40.00 taxes. but we were there for the state fair so I understand. their normal room price is about $84.00 .

The room was perfect. They were able to accommodate our need for a room on the first floor. Breakfast had numerous healthy choices. The staff were really friendly and felt like a real family. This was a wonderful experience and if we are ever in Springfield IL again - it will be the ONLY place we will stay.

I enjoyed the suite style of the room. I also enjoyed the discount at local restaurants and how friendly the staff were. We even spent a few minutes talking about the value of grad school.

The only thing I didn't like was related to IHOP being somewhat disorganized across the street, though I know this is not the fault of the Microtel staff.

We did get walked in by staff about 30 minutes after we got there and the safety latch had been disabled so it was somewhat awkward. And although not the hotel's fault, we had a lot of noise at about 5:30 between people talking and playing TV loudly

there was a light b’fast and they also offered 10% off at the surrounding restaurants.

The shower curtain rod was not tightly secured to the wall, so the shower curtain pooled in the center of the rod. Also, the pin in the faucet was difficult to pull, meaning that most of the water was still gushing out of the faucet rather than the shower head.

Nice room. Clean. Day and afternoon staff first day were excellent. Nice work out room.

Man at desk in morning was extremely rude. Wouldn’t look up to speak with us. Husband said excuse me twice and he said I hear you and still not looking up from screen.

While they did not offer breakfast, the hotel was next door to an IHOP. You got a 10% discount when you showed the room key card. There were also several other restaurants in the area that offered the same discount.
