voco St James Hotel, an IHG hotel

The staff was attentive and welcoming. Helpful with recommendations. The room was nice. It had comfortable bed and pillows. Easy to use chargers in the lamps.

There were some interesting and uncomfortable quirks to the room. First, the bathroom door did not close all the way. Second, there was a tiny hole in the ceiling of the shower (looked like from water damage). Third, the sink was small and the makeup mirror's lighting was bad. Lastly, there was no peep hold cover. This is mostly a safety concern since the shower is directly the main area of view if someone was looking into the peep hole which wouldn't be as much of a concern IF the bathroom door closed. Still, you don't want anyone looking into your room unknowingly.

everything from start till the end was worthwhile front staff was just so amazing, so thoughtful, humble, kind and respectful very accommodating and made our stay so enjoyable and comfortable like we are just aww by the experience bar/ lounge was good as well cute little pool was therapeutic as well room was so clean cozy and beautiful house keeping staff was also very hygienic and smiling faces we will definitely recommend this hotel to all our friends and family and we are looking forward to stay at the same property in every city we go now onwards keep up the good work kind people we need more humanity and kindness in this world thank you for being you all of you! god bless you all!!stay safe! stay healthy and keep smiling!!

Excellent staff and location. The hotel was like a little hidden gem in downtown and short walking distance from the French Quarter. Plenty of Southern regional restaurant options within the same block.

Parking is always an issue when it's not free or readily available. But there are parking lots sprinkled nearby and one immediately across the street from the hotel. Valet is also an option, but I prefer to park my own vehicle.

We enjoyed the helpful staff who did strive to accommodate our needs and requests. Covid got in the way of housekeeping. We had to pickup towels at front desk daily, retrieve room coffee pods & creamers for early or late coffees, and our room accumulated trash was not picked up frequently. I’ll chalk it up to Covid strictures. Hopefully in the future there will be the Coffee Bar Cafe set up and running and maybe an afternoon tea/cocktail hour that the friendly GM Vicki, mentioned in the gorgeous lobby or outside courtyards. GREAT location. Near Mothers for breakfast lunch or dinner, the Elegant delicious Chop House, and there’s a small market to the right then down the block on the left for snacks, etc in our room. Lovely hotel. We’ll come back

Covid restrictions for housekeeping. Couldn’t be helped though. Added water bottles in refrigerator would be excellent!

The location was perfect and the staff was awesome! It was within walking distance to shops and Bourbon street. The staff got us checked in early thankfully and were always helpful. The courtyard was beautiful and had an overhang for keeping you dry during the pop up rains :)

The room was a little outdated and some of the outlets/switches didn't work. Also the safe in the closet was not usable as it didn't turn on and the closet's light didn't work. The exposed wood and concrete was an old world vibe but also not clean so I'm not sure about that. The AC unit on the wall had leaked previously as you could see where the paint had run down. Overall small things that were tolerable and didn't bother us :)

Everything!! I can't say enough good things about this hotel! The location was perfect for us, the staff is amazing and made us feel so welcome and taken care of. Make sure you say hi to Mr . Thomas he's the man that gets things done!

Honestly , there was nothing that I didn't like about this hotel.

Close to everything but a little off path to not be as busy. Beds were comfortable and rooms spacious.

This hotel does not have dedicated parking for hotel unless you want to valet. There are surface lots directly across street and just down street, but on weekend we stayed one was closed and the other full. We could not find a spot even though we were back early. We had to park some distance away and walk - and with check out the next morning this was not ideal.

Going to a city like New Orleans we didn't want to stay in a Marriot or a Hilton. While there is nothing wrong with those hotels, we wanted something with a little more New Orleans "flavor" and we got that at the St. James. The hotel was a little understaffed (a problem facing a lot of businesses!), but the staff that was there was very friendly, helpful and professional. And the location of the hotel between the French Quarter and the Garden District was perfect for us. Overall, it was a wonderful place to stay.

If they could solve their staffing issues, the stay would have been even better

It's very close to the French Quarter without being so close that there's audible partying. Everything we wanted to see on that side of town was totally walkable and the property itself was beautiful. While some folks might want to stay on Bourbon street, it was nice to feel a little emore secluded from the partying.

Bed was pretty uncomfortable and there were a few things in disrepair in the room. None of these were deal breakers though, and the rest of the property's benefits made up for it.

Honestly I booked 4 other hotels before deciding on this one. I was nervous about the reviews I was seeing but we stayed Thursday-Sunday and has a wonderful time. The room was beautiful and comfortable! The floor could’ve used a little better cleaning but that wasn’t a bother to me. The bathtub was the best. The king room had beautiful windows that looked out onto magazine. It was a bummer that the pool was closed but we didn’t spend much time lounging at the hotel anyways. It was the perfect distance away from all of the crazy crowds and a short walk to everything! We did a bourbon crawl Friday night and had no problem navigating back to our hotel after a few drinks. The valet was a little slow to return our car to the private lot at night but I felt secure with it sitting out in front of the hotel in their designated drop off. It helps that I could also see my car from our room. The staff was very accommodating and so friendly. Lots of character in this hotel and I would absolutely stay here again. Thank you, St. James. 😊
