The Brunswick Hotel

We spent 4 nights at this hotel and could not have been much happier. It is literally situated across the street from the Bowdoin College campus and within easy walking distance of the shops and restaurants located along Maine Street. The rooms and facilities are well maintained and we found every employee to be friendly. A complimentary continental breakfast is offered each morning that includes both fresh fruit and pastries. Freshly baked cookies are impossible, at least for me, to resist when offered in the late afternoon. In addition, its central location allowed us to explore a number of towns situated along Maine's mid-coast. There is little doubt that we will be returning.

Location.

A few items in my room #203 needs fixing; Toilet seat is loose making it a little unsafe to seat down on. Both the bath tub and sink drains drain slowly. The tub needs a bit of scrubbing in one corner. A tiny bit of wall paper is coming away above shower. Pieces of the furniture have worn away spots like paint. For what this is, where it is, and how much it is, I would expect the facilities to be kept up to an impeccable degree. You don’t want people to just say “it’s fine.” You want them to feel that without a doubt their money was well spent. And that they are experiencing something special.

It was a beautiful property convenient to the university. The staff was great and the breakfast setting in the main dining room was much nicer than average.

The hotel suffered a little from the location across from the train station. If you like to leave the window open like we do, it’s a little noisy and the light from outside is too bright. Keep everything closed up and you’re fine!

The breakfast was really, really good and added to the value of the booking. The location is one of only two within Brunswick centre. There are several others in the area but it's a bit of a walk or 5 to 19 min. Drive.

We arrived late and scooted down to the restaurant. We found it a bit stuffy at first. While the appetizers were good/ok, we felt a bit disappointed considering the price. The signature drink was ok but didn't warrant $14.

We happened to hit Monday night when the bar and restaurant were closed. it may be naive of me, but I believe ANY and EVERY hotel should be open seven days a week. Those of us who book will show up any of seven days of the week. If the hotel is open, every aspect of it should be available. Booking.com will not let us know whether or not the hotel’s dining facilities are available on the night in question. Poor business practice.

The hotel is 11 years old, as I was told. The bedroom was bright and airy, with large windows on two sides. Bathroom with tube/shower etc, very nicely appointed. Complimentary breakfast featured croissants, muffins, bacon/sausage?, fruits, yogurt, as well as juices, coffee & tea. The terrace outside is a lovely place to eat. The dinner menu was varied & interesting. We ate soup & appetizers, which were excellent. Wine excellent too. Staff helpful & patient with our questions. We definitely want to stay there again next year! Price is reasonable.

Breakfast looked good, did not partake. Prior to arriving we did receive nice texts to keep us up to date .

Was not told that the parking was shared with the restaurant from 5-10. We were unable to park in the lot the first night. Second night we could as restaurant was closed. Couldn’t enter thru bottom floor door, key pad broken.Had to get ice from the front desk.

you could offer a micro wave for the eggs. Also I was allowed early check in, I had a medial issue to deal with and it was very convenient, thanks

I really like the hotel, thought it was beautiful and comfortable. My only thing - not really a complaint - the trash was not emptied in my room and the bathroom sink shelf was very dusty, in fact I wrote dust me on the countertop.

We like the size of the suite; the bed was very comfortable; it was very clean; it was pet friendly with lots of area around to walk them

There was no room service available & we were late getting in and had 2 small dogs; the front desk person was not proactive in supporting bringing cart in. I was alone with a dog & needed help.

Everything about the room, reception, parking, etc. was excellent. We wanted a place that would accommodate my wife's mobility limitations and that was achieved very well on all counts.

After the event was over, we expected to have a small gathering of old friends in the hotel's on-site bar only to learn that it had closed by 9 or 9:30 when we returned from the event.
