Clean and quiet area. It smelled like going to grandmas house when you walked in. Beautiful location on the river and minutes away from a multitude of dinning options. Super clean and you could tell the hosts loved what they do and also have put a lot of love into the property. Breakfast was absolutely a treat and top notch. I cannot say how amazing it was enough. Great location with easy access to the major transportation routes. I was also given maps and recommendations for places to stop on my journey to Bat Harbor and other “down east” sights. One of the best experiences we have had staying in a bed and breakfast I would give it a 20 if available.

lovely 1860s home with cozy and unique rooms. Lots of interesting antiques, beautiful quilts and accessories that made the place very inviting. Our room was comfortable and functional. The bathroom was small but functional and had enough space to put our toiletries up. The house had a lovely garden going down to the river which was peaceful and full of dong birds. We liked sitting there. The breakfast was delicious. Best the owners are a lovely couple that made us feel very welcome and were a delight to talk to. Wet thoroughly enjoyed our stay and wished we had booked more than one night.

The stairs to the second floor are steep. This was not a problem for us however.

The hosts were charming and attend to this property with loving care. Breakfast was delicious and individually prepared. The grounds are lovely, garden and river view. Cozy place with only three guest rooms, lovely porch and outdoor seating. The common living room and den house books about Maine and reading material. The host was helpful sharing maps and an overview of the area.

The guest rooms are up a flight of stairs and two face a busy road. By evening the traffic subsides and we were able to sleep surprisingly well.

We thought Tom and Judy were great hosts, cheery and friendly (doggies included!). They were happy to interact with us, and gave us great tips on where to eat and what to visit. We loved their warm, cozy home, and the attention to decor. The breakfast was a gourmet experience, expertly prepared by Judy, and lovingly served by Tom.

I appreciate that the bathroom was quite small and it is difficult to maximize space. But as a traveler with multiple toiletry bags (!), I would have appreciated some cleverly integrated shelves, or a few discreet hooks...

Charming old house nicely restored, perfectly described on website. Fun eclectic decor, river at bottom of pretty garden, easy parking behind house. Close to highways and a short drive into Brunswick for restaurants and services. Wonderful breakfasts, different every day. Tom and Judy are perfect hosts.

Only consideration for less-that-fit travelers are that the two bedrooms must be accessed by steep and shallow stairs.

The inn is well decorated with all kinds of interesting items, from homemade quilts to old fishing gear. Rooms are fairly large and each room has corner windows, allowing for a breeze. The grounds have numerous seating options, and the flowers are lovely. There's a dock with picnic table where the property meets the river. We sat and watched the rowers in sculls at dinner time. So peaceful!

The breakfast was excellent - so many different things were offered and all were just delicious. My room and bath were very comfortable and well appointed. The hosts were really nice and super helpful about finding what turned out to be an excellent dinner. The location was easy to find and convenient.

Honestly, I cannot think of anything I did not like nor can I think of anything that needs improvement.

Judy and Tom were wonderful hosts - warm and welcoming and they made sure we were comfortable. Judy prepared gourmet level breakfasts every morning, included fresh fruit, home made freshly baked muffins and breads, egg dishes and crepes, juices and good coffee. Tom was very attentive to our needs whether it was during breakfast or information about what to do in the Topsham and Brunswick area. We were in town for our daughter’s delayed Bowdoin Class of 2020 Graduation and the morning of the ceremony, Tom thoughtfully set the breakfast table with polar bear napkins and Bowdoin decor - it was so sweet! We highly recommend Black Lantern B & B! (PS - I added some photos from out Black Lantern stay & accidentally included one of our pup & Booking.com site did not allow me to delete it!)

We didn’t have anything that we found off-putting during our stay. Judy and Tom were very accommodating!

Everything. It was the most beautiful and characterful old Victorian house, set right on the river. Very comfortable, very tastefully/idiosyncratically designed. And so New England-ish. Our hosts Tom and Judy were a total delight and the breakfast was to die for! We were sorry we were only there for one night.
