We loved staying in this well-maintained and thoughtfully updated historic home. The private, off-street parking leads to a back porch where the innkeeper greeted us, and led us inside to retrieve our room key and tell us about the house amenities as well as recommendations for area activities and dining. We stayed in a lovely room called The General, which is one of the rooms with a private bath. The bedrooms have mini-split air conditioning units, and The General has a ceiling fan as well; we were very comfortable despite the late summer heat. Coffee service began at 7 a.m. and breakfast was served at 8:30. The hosts were attuned to the specific dietary needs of their guests and, while we did not have any restrictions, I observed other guests being accommodated graciously. Around the large dining table we enjoyed conversation with couples from the US, UK, and Denmark, one of the unique delights of stying at a small inn. We wished we had been able to arrive earlier and stay longer to enjoy more time in the parlor/library and den, and to enjoy another lovely breakfast.

This was my first foray into the B&B world, I am an introvert and prefer the anonymity that a nice chain hotel offers. This was a great choice for a first timer with an interest in history. The owner was friendly, the room was nice and the bed was comfy. Had I not been just stopping for the night I would have endeavored to read one of the excellent books in the room. Now the funny part: my wife (originally from Thailand) believes that ghosts exist and as soon as she saw the place she just knew that she would be visited by former owners of the house. She told my adult daughter this (who is an avid B&B fan) and wouldn’t you know my daughter searched the web and found that this place was featured in some ghost-hunter show. I am happy to report that no ghosts visited us in the night! The breakfast at a large shared table was excellent as was the conversation! A great stay, looking forward to spending more nights here in the future.

Can’t think of a thing.

The house is within walking distance of the historical section of Vicksburg with access to restaurants and museums. You can enjoy a pleasant meal and beverage watching the waters of the Mississippi River flow buy. It is also a very short drive to the Vicksburg Memorial National Park. The accommodations are in a very warm and comfortable 1860's era house decorated with a pleasant mix of antiques and contemporary art. The neighborhood is quiet and the rooms are comfortable and clean. The breakfast was hot and delicious. The host were very pleasant and helpful.

Nothing, my stay was fantastic.

We loved our stay in Vicksburg & Baer House was just perfect for us. Patricia was the best host, her knowledge of the area was superb, she gave us lots of useful tips. When in the area absolutely don’t miss the National Military Park, we downloaded the Park App & did a self guided tour which we found a great & informative way to take it all in. Also if you get chance do the tour of McRaven House, we took the evening tour, very spooky! Make sure you read up on the history of Baer House itself or ask the hosts, so interesting. Would highly recommend staying here, oh & did we mention the breakfasts, delicious 😋

Nothing not to like. Remember you are staying in a historical period house so just don’t expect fridges or kettles in your bedrooms, it would so spoil the setting

The owner was friendly, and we engaged in meaningful conversation. The room was pleasant, and we slept comfortably in the bed. She gave us good suggestions for our evening meal, and the breakfast she served the next day was delicious. More people should explore the history of Vicksburg and stay at the Bser House.

We were there on a slow day mid-week and were the only guests. We think more people should be enjoying this bed and breakfast inn.

Baer House Inn is a beautiful and well preserved trip back in time. Just sitting in the ballroom and looking at the incredibly high ceiling is worth a few minutes of introspection. The rooms feel special and are served by tasteful, period furniture. The breakfast was lovely.

The property suffers a little for location, surrounded by government facilities and some neglect. It makes for an inconsistent walk to the historical center.

One of the lovely Colonial houses near to the centre of town, it was very comfortable, with a lovely breakfast and we enjoyed speaking to the host about the history of the house.

A few of the tiles in the en-suite were missing the cement, but as the host mentioned to us, things are only just picking after COVID and once it picks up further any small items needing attention will be dealt with.

Looking for a place to spend two nights in Vicksburg, we decided to expand our horizons and try the Baer House. A bit more expensive, but well worth the money! Our first B&B experience, and we couldn't have been in better hands. Patricia and Corey were excellent hosts, well versed on the history of this 1870's home and the town. Beautifully decorated old home, has that old house feel and smell. We stayed in the Plantation Room, very clean, comfortable bed. I'll admit, I really was expecting to hear things go bump in the night, but was thankfully disappointed! Breakfast was a treat, Patricia hooked us up with some souped up pancakes the first morning, and her Southern Eggs Benedict on the second. We also enjoyed the company of another group of travelers during our meal. Looking forward to our next opportunity to stay here again!

Nothing that I can think of.

Beautiful home with comfortable beds, delicious food, and helpful staff. They work hard to make sure you enjoy your stay. They are more than willing to help you with directions and suggestions. They even printed out a list of local events and put it on our room. The breakfast was amazing. Would definitely visit again.

The Baer House was great. I would stay again without hesitation. I would never book with Booking.com though. They did not show or advise about check in times accurately, but it all worked out after we had to take 1/2 day off. The breakfast was good and the beds were comfortable and it was very clean!!

Booking.com was not accurate.
