Golden Sands Oceanfront Hotel

I loved the location and how beautiful it is to wake up and see the beautiful sun over the ocean and how I loved the sound at night with the waves crashing it was so peaceful and so relaxing

I liked the closeness of the beach. It was very convenient being so close to everything and the staff where very friendly. Overall we had a fantastic stay and I really enjoyed the hotel and beach

Its not necessarily that I didnt like it but $385 for each night is a bit steep with no complimentary breakfast but that's just my opinion.

Rooms were clean. Nothing fancy but when I’m at the beach I am interested in a clean, comfortable place to sleep and a clean bathroom. This had all that.

Indoor pool was closed 3 of the 4 days. Maintenance for the outdoor pool was performed during its open hours so the pool could not be used for about an hour while he added chemicals and cleaned the pool. Seems that could be done when it’s closed. Wi-fi never worked. We had 3 rooms so there were a few small children. It would be nice to have a door latch out of the reach of small children. They have nothing on the inside but the door handle. For the amount of $ something beyond the minimum would make me feel better about spending that much.

Location was awesome. Beach was close. Nice deck that faced the beach. Very nice boardwalks. Nice shops nearby. Access to the beach was great! Breakfast was close. Good eating all around the area. Rooms clean and nice size and housekeeping was amazingly nice.

More luggage dollies to transfer luggage from vehicle to room, room to vehicle. Diner open for breakfast would have been a cherry on top. Parking spots could have been a tab wider, a little tight for a Chevy Tahoe.

I loved the contemporary look of the rooms and the color scheme. The staff was amazingly nice. The room was clean when we arrived and noise was very minimal even though steps from the restaurant, beach and pool.

The beds were extremely uncomfortable, very firm! The bathroom faucet did not have a filter so the water flow was all over the sink. The shampoo, conditioner and soap dispensers in the shower were empty. The hallway ice machine on 2nd floor did not work.There was no iron in the room. When iron requested it didn't work. I noticed a lot of condensation in the room even though AC was working probably I think.....

The only big problem I had was the toilet I am handicap with back and knee problem I could not get down that low to sit on toilet or get up I am used to railings at home and a higher seat It gave me alot of pain My husband had to help me up Which wasnt good as he is a heart patient and cant lift but he did This is thew reason I will not be able to return there I Loved the balcony and the view but because of that problem I cannot stay there anymore .This is my wife writing this about the very low toilet seat she had a very rough time

The second room I got was good! I was very thankful for the staff accommodating me! The bed was extremely comfortable and the view was awesome! Staff was pleasant.

When I got there the room was just getting clean but they accommodated me and that was enough to make me happy. I parked on the side of the building and noticed someone had been messing with my car. I let the receptionist know. I parked my car near the cameras after that and had no issues. Should have known better, but I was not expecting to have people mess with my car either. SO FYI, park where your car is in camera view. I had no issues after that. I would have given it a 10 but because of my car issue I was a little paranoid but I was determined to have a little vacation and enjoy it.

The view of the beach is amazing. The rooms are very clean, comfortable and relaxing. We heard very little noise coming from the hallway or other rooms. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Will definitely look to stay here again.

Not the hotel's fault, but there were several guests that were smoking out on the balcony including our neighbor in the nonsmoking room. They were mostly smoking weed and burning incense. It was pretty annoying as it would waft up into our area, but it was easily kept out of our room. Again, not the hotel's fault, but they were definitely smoking inside the rooms too as it was very strong in the hallway.

Location was great (walkable to several restaurants), and the view from the room was awesome! The staff were all extremely nice, and the room was serviced daily, which isn't always included when staying at chain hotels any more. Having both an indoor and outdoor pool as well as being right on the beach meant we had several swimming options for the kids. Beds were super comfortable, and our entire family slept great during our stay thanks to that and the fact that the air unit ran consistently resulting in noise canceling. We packed a sound machine as we usually need one when we stay in hotels to drown out ourside noises, but we didn't end up needing it at Golden Sands. The hotel had a shop with reasonably priced merchandise and toiletry items in case you forget something. They also had coffee each morning in the lobby, so that was nice. We will definitely stay here again when we return to Carolina Beach!

This is in no way a reflection on the hotel, but I definitely think it is helpful to know that a number of the local restaurants are cash only or charge a significant fee to use cards so bring cash if you intend to eat out much.

Excellent location -- walk out of the hotel onto the beach, dine at the Tiki Bar on the pier (excellent drinks and seafood), or jump in the pool. The staff was consistently helpful and friendly -- any setbacks were met with grace and understanding.

It's not a "full service" hotel -- no breakfast (although there are options in town) and the room is comfortable and practical. Our room didn't have working wifi the four days we stayed there (but the management gave us a discount at checkout).
