Everything except the light in the bathroom flashef on and offon and off when you turned it on

Bathroom light, but I know they were in the process of remodeling . I would definitely stay there again and again.

Ocean view and beach access. The room was simple but very clean. The walls are pretty thin but we were lucky not to have any noisy neighbors. Nags head is nice this early in the season, probably not as nice once the summer gets into full swing but you're in your own little world at the Blue Heron anyway, so shouldn't matter so much.

The check in was done via a terminal with an internet link. It was a bit weird but I guess these are Covid protocols still in place.

The gentleman at the front desk was very nice and accommodating. This was a spur of the moment trip to spend time with my mom while I still can.. we just got in the car and drove down at 5am. We booked the room on Booking.com (surprisingly the cheapest up there) so we got in town way to early to check in.. but he allowed us to check in early as soon as the room was available and even moved us to a 3rd floor so my elderly mother could see the ocean better since she wasnt able to go on the beach due to her recenet knee surgery. Thanks to him she at least had a fantastic view! I would definitely stay here again. Matter of fact, we stayed an extra night because we loved it so much! (Hope my job dont see this...Lol. I was sick I swear! 😉) P.S. The electric luggage lift was a life saver! Didnt have to carry anything up to the 3rd floor! Thanks again!

The towels..lol. bout it.

The location was great, near enough to do everything we wanted (beach, museums, water sports, dinner, ice cream!). We had a third floor room with fabulous views of the ocean and a well appointed balcony. The hotel was literally on the beach. We had an efficiency and it was great to have a kitchenette to do some of our meals in. This is an old fashioned beach motel, not fancy but very comfortable. We will definitely stay here every time we come to the OBX!

The kitchenette could use updating and the bathroom was very small. It was weird, and kind of creepy, having to check in with a head in a box; I did not like that. There was no elevator and carrying everything up the steps was a drag.

Such a nice little gem within the Nags Head area. Pools were clean and a nice size. Spa/hot tub area was very nice with fresh towels provided. Linens and towels in room were thoroughly clean and had zero stains, which is a huge relief. I've stayed at bigger hotel chains that had stained linens and towels. The check in kiosk process was easy, customer service agents were very pleasant and nice. The hotel owners and rest of the staff we encountered were also very nice and professional. The hotel is pet friendly and all the furry friends we encountered were well behaved and we never heard any barking. The sense of a mini community from other guests was amazing. Everyone very pleasant, no rowdy people and a great crowd. Such a unique experience. Access to the beach was just a few steps away. We got a bottom room floor (#04) and we had direct view of the ocean and dunes. The convenience of a full size fridge, microwave, and even kitchen utensils was a hug bonus. There were shampoo, soap and lotion dispensers, surprisingly enough, the shampoo was nice and didn't dry my hair out like hotel shampoo usually does. Full size coffee pot too. I can't wait to be back! I think we found our new favorite new spot to stay when visiting the OBX.

The rinsing stations still required you to walk through loads of sand and defeated their purpose but I'm sure they'll update that at some point.

I was really impressed by the Blue Heron! For the price, you can’t beat it. The room was nice and clean and the beds were comfortable. The management and staff were friendly and helpful. We asked for a cot and extra bedding and our requests were handled VERY quickly. We truly felt like guests that the staff wanted to take good care of! Two of our four days it rained so having the indoor pool and hot tub were really nice! It made us feel like we didn’t waste those days and our kids could still play! The outdoor pools were a different setup but both were nice and clean! The water was fresh and the pools had definitely been vacuumed well. We visited other properties during our stay and ours was by far cleaner than the others! Overall really excited we found this gem. We will be back!

I thought our shower could have been a little better. The handles and stuff were very wobbly and the hot water didn’t always work but it wasn’t the biggest deal. I do know had we said something to the staff/management I am confident they would have fixed it quickly! The indoor pool was tinted green. We couldn’t tell if it was the pool or the lights shining in the pool…

We stayed here for a week. Nice clean rooms. I have 3 kids so I loved the fact that you can see the pool and the beach from your balcony. You walk out back and you walk directly onto the beautiful beach. We had a minor issue with a wall in our room but the staff and owner came right over and fixed it. I wasn't expecting them to come so quickly. If your looking for a nice clean hotel that has something for everybody this is it. They had the pool for my boys, right on beach for my daughter, and stores/restuarant all over, and super nice staff with clean rooms. All around 10 out of 10.

Honestly there isn't really anything I can think of that we didn't like. We left saying we will definitely be back next year because there isn't anything bad. I could knit pick and say there's sand in room but your directly on beach there's going to be sand. Everything was good nothing to complain or dislike.
