Downtown Value Inn

The location is everything here! The family running it are great - especially little ones. :) The hotel itself is older and could use some updating - shower was not hot enough. The bathroom needs new fixtures. Don't get me wrong - it works, but could def be improved as an investment in the business. When I'm traveling, I just want a clean, quiet room and a HOT shower, no frills needed. They kindly let us store our backpacks when we checked out as we were on Amtrak and did not leave until 7 pm. Thank you! Also, very convenient pizza/bar next door.

Water temperature.

We stayed here 6 years ago, so that's why we chose it again. The location is wonderful. Downtown Portland is walkable, and also has public transportation. Portland Streetcar and TriMet MAX train. Nikki, at the front desk was very helpful answering our questions, before our arrival and during our stay. The only downside is there's no elevator. The steps are navigable, however, even with luggage. Convenient coffee shop, Ovation, right across street; and Starbucks just up the block. Pizza and Pub next door. We love staying here.

Our room was comfortable, clean; with microwave and mini-frig. No in-room coffee maker, but coffee shops very convenient.

Location was great, public transit, food, fun ,PSU real close. Staff handled our issues accordingly. I would rate 7.5-8 overall for location and value

Had an issue with the water in our room. The staff moved us.

Each staff member is very helpful and friendly. The location is perfect for discovering downtown Portland. You can walk to the pioneer square within several minutes! The microwave oven is also really helpful during our trip. The free parking lot is also important when we want to walk around downtown! A good city view from our windows while we had to learn to sleep while hearing the noise from buses. I made it at the second night! Yeah~~~

The only thing I felt uncomfortable was: when I booked a room by booking.com APP, I chose a room of 420 square feet from a room list for my price. But when I arrived there, according to my personal feeling, I didn't think the room for us was about 420 square feet. It looks like the room is less than 400 square feet. I am not sure if the booking.com listed correct information for the candidate rooms or not.

The Downtown Value Motor Inn is one of few "affordable" motels in Portland. We stay here whenever we have a show downtown, and do not want to drive home afterward. There are other more expensive options around, for those who may want an upscale experience, but for a good bed and free parking, the Downtown Inn can't be beat. This is an older, but clean and well maintained building. The management and staff vets the guests, and it always feels safe. The rooms have a fridge and microwave. The location is right on the two Portland Streetcar lines for easy access around town (choose a rear-view or upper level room to avoid the streetcar sounds). There is a Pizza Schmizza Pub below the east end rooms - the east stairs exit to the pub! The staff have always been friendly and accommodating.

When I book a hotel room, I expect a clean, comfortable room at a reasonable price. Downtown Value Inn fits this perfectly. Its location is fantastic - 1/2 block from light rail, bus, and streetcar stops. I was easily able to get around town. Plus there's a food truck lot only a block away! The room itself is simple (bed, comfy chair, desk, microwave, refrigerator, and TV), cozy, and clean. The WiFi worked great. I also appreciated the friendly staff who greeted me every time I passed the front desk.

I had a challenging time getting the temperature of the shower just right (I was ultimately able to do so), and I would have liked to have had a hook on the bathroom door so I could hang up my PJs while I showered.

Excellent location. Very easy to get around. There are buses, street cars and Max tram cars right on the block to get you anywhere on the city. Staff were friendly and very helpful with activity recommendations. The restaurant next door has delicious pizza and various local beer options.

Trash in the room was not emptied daily.

Did not eat breakfast. The woman at the front desk was wonderful and very helpful.

The room was not exactly clean. There was trash under the bed and used tissue in the cabinet under the bathroom sink.

The staff were polite, helpful, and very accommodating to our arrival prior to check-in and departure after check out. The rooms in which we were staying were not near the entrance to the inn, so that allowed me to feel safer. The room came with a microwave and mini fridge, which were perfect for the leftovers we had from a few of our meals during our trip.

The door to the bathroom was a bit damaged on the inside side of the door, but everything else in the room and the inn were in good quality.

Easy to find and excellent location with the street car right on the door step. Walkable to all the central sights. Free parking underneath and there was plenty of it when we stayed. Would, certainly, stay again. Tip: get a day transport ticket for $5 or $2.50 if you're over 65.
