Fairville Inn

From our booking, and throughout our stay we experienced an "old world" grace and charm that is rarely found in our fast-paced world. The friendliness of the staff, including Nancy upon booking and Joy throughout our stay, as well as the personal handwritten welcome note from the owner, made us feel right at home. The facility offered an elegant decor with an inviting and fresh appeal, consistent with that of a fine country manor home. We were housed in the cozy guest cottage that featured a large room with modern amenities and our own back deck that offered a fine view of a lovely garden. The breakfast in the morning was cooked to order and also excellent. We can highly recommend the Fairville Inn without reservation whenever you are visiting this Marvelous Land of Mushrooms!

What's not to like . . . . . . . . . ? Don't waste your time trying to find anything to complain about. . . . . it's not there. :-)

Beautiful grounds and outdoor seating. Friendly staff and delicious breakfast. Spacious room, super clean, with a fireplace and balcony!

Maybe I’m a princess, but I thought the bed was a tad hard/ uncomfortable and the down pillows are not a favorite because they go flat. I would just bring a few comfort items for myself. My husband slept like a rock and liked the firm bed.

Loved having the gas fireplace and a comfy king bed. Breakfast was delightful. We could have in our room or in the dining room of the main house. We ate in the dining room. Nice chatting with other guests. Grounds are beautiful. Innkeeper was attentive and quick to respond...thank you Nancy! Lovely stay!!

The guy above us could be heard pacing non-stop for hours. It was pretty loud. Not sure if a rug would help but should be considered. Really not an issue with the Inn, but with the fact that he couldn't sit still.

Breakfast not on location due to staffing issues but was very good at the Cafe provided by the Inn as an alternative. We loved the ambiance a ND the rolling terrain and landscape. Proximity to area attractions was perfect.

Intake person appeared overwhelmed and was not especially friendly. We understand the hospitality industry as a whole is under duress but a smile would be nice. As for the room, the carpet was stained in places and the lighting in the sink area was very dim and not adjustable.

Location was perfect. Fairly quiet except for guests above us. Staff are very accommodating and friendly. Enjoyed having Hulu movies available and fresh flowers are always appreciated. Bed and pillows were very comfortable.

We’re accustomed to more variety in day to day breakfast offerings. We ended up having the same option for both days. Gas fireplace alternated between being quiet and being quite loud. Consequently, we tried not to use it.

It’s a old charming place with lovely grounds. Nancy, the woman who checked us in, showed us to our room, and served us breakfast was delightful.

This lovely and charming place that has recently been redone. Unfortunately, the renovation removed much of sense of history and charm from the interior.

There was a gas fireplace that was very atmospheric. Rocking chair porch attached to room was comfortable and lovely to sit on in the morning and at twilight. Lovely view down to a pond. Lots of birds. Very relaxing. Staff were friendly, helpful, and professional.

Stayed for two nights. Tried two different breakfasts(3 choices offered) One was better than the other. Meals were served in room because of COVID but no good place to sit and eat. Should improve when restrictions are lifted. Asked for extra coffee for the second morning with real milk which we received without problems.

Breakfast was absolutely delicious, generous, and artfully served, given the constraints of covid-safe practices. We enjoyed it on the deck overlooking the gardens. Room was spacious and very clean. New landscaping in front was a special treat. We stayed in the carriage house behind the main house, so we were far from the road. It was heartening to see how hard the owners had worked to survive the pandemic as a small business. Very close to Winterthur, which was our primary destination.

Decks needed to be restained and trim needed some paint touch-up. But the new landscaping, interior of the room, and spectacular breakfast made up for it. We understand that business owners have to pace their spending on maintenance and capital in order to stay in business. We absolutely want them to succeed!

Location & breakfast were both excellent. Room was large and airy looking. Especially liked the vanity area.

I think that there should be some other hooks in bathroom to hang clothes. It would also be helpful if there were glasses in bathroom not just in the cabinet in the main room.

The location of Fairville Inn is great for the many attractions in the Brandywine Valley, Longwood Gardens and many DuPont estates, wineries, Etc. Enjoyed basil egg bruschetta and French toast with berries.

There was nothing to complain about. The staff is very helpul and friendly. The rooms are very comfortable. Lots of places to just be quiet and relax. The inn offers snacks and coffee or tea at all hours.
