Penn Wells Lodge

The beds and blankets were very comfortable. I had the best sleep I've ever had in a hotel. The pull out couch was also very comfortable. The room had lots of space and fit our needs perfectly. It was also very quiet. We didn't hear anything from the upper floors( we were on the 1st floor). The pool was clean and the provided towels were fresh and soft. The location was great with amenities right across the street(coffee shop, grocery store and pharmacy). Would definitely stay again!

I didn't care for the breakfast selections. I would have loved some bacon and the milk for the cereal seemed watery. I would have liked to have updated room key system but it was functional.

The breakfast was definitely better than most included ones. Tea and coffee were high quality. Eggs were served daily, along with many other choices. The breakfast cooks and servers were very attentive to our needs. The wifi was quicker than at most budget stays. The location was very walkable to all sorts of dining, and a movie/live-venue theater was only about two blocks away. Within a short drive were outstanding outdoor options such as a wonderful bike path through the Pine Creek Canyon, a climbable fire tower (bring credit card for $8 total charge), and two state parks by the canyon's rim.

The shower's water temperature was a bit tricky to modulate, but could be accomplished with a little practice. The bathroom window was great for fresh air, but did not have an opaque shade to go with it. There was a refrigerator, but no microwave within the budget room (which was very fairly priced). Although free parking was said to be included, after reservations were made, the confirmation sheet said "when available." This was no problem except for crowded times of the week when the parking lot filled up fairly quickly. At that point, it might be tough to get a spot near your room, but perhaps possible to get one farther away.

This hotel was centrally located so you were able to walk to downtown for shopping, dinner, grocery, etc. Car wasn't necessary and the town is very cute, the last of it's kind of small town USA. The scenery was awesome, since the reason for our stay was to enjoy the fall foliage and the Grand Canyon of the East was the place to do it. The hotel overall is well maintained, parking lot clean, hotel reception is open, plenty of places to sit and chat in small groups, breakfast was filling and staff were awesome. Hope to make this stay an annual trip.

No complaints. The room we had was a suite with fireplace and it was a really nice set up.

I'm so glad I reserved a suite! It gave us extra room to spread out all our stuff. My husband was able to make calls in the attached room while I watched TV in the bedroom with the door shut. And the bed was really comfortable. Though the breakfast choices were the same every day, there were enough selections to satisfy almost any hunger. The food was tasty and of good quality. I also liked the friendly staff in the breakfast area and that they worked well together. The room had nice furniture, bedding, carpet, and drapes. I did not have time to try the pool but it looked inviting! Also, we were within walking distance of some decent restaurants.

The rates were high. Had I booked just a couple weeks later, we'd have paid $150 less. No one is able to explain the difference in rates. Maybe it was the fall colors on the mountains. The walls in the bedroom could have used a little more color or a couple of frames.

My stay at the hotel was great. The room I booked was a suite and it really met my expectations. The room was clean and the staff was very friendly during my visit. All the areas I saw of the hotel were very clean. All the doors and side doors worked as expected and my keycard allowed me to use any entrance I wanted. The gym and pool are very nice, clean and well maintained.

The breakfast was dissappointing. I went to get my coffee at 7:30am, breakfast was available starting at 7am, Coffee was great. They served Starbucks brand and it was hot and fresh. I was led to believe there was hot food served during breakfast. But due to Covid situation they did not offer hot eggs or meats. Very disappointing and I was not informed before my stay.

Well situated. Very clean. Suites have nice room layout & ample space. Beautiful pool & spa area. Courteous front desk staff. Nice lobby area. Ample breakfast provided.

Hard to find a spot to sit during breakfast time. It would be nice if breakfast options varied day to day. Most people don't want to eat scrambled eggs and sausage every day. We only stayed 2 nights, but if we stayed a week that would have upset me. Waffles....bacon.....cheesy egg....pepper & egg? I think the hot protein options could be jazzed up with little expense & effort.

The customer service is outstanding! This was our third or fourth stay at this hotel. The staff is so friendly and helpful, even going so far as to get me a cup of milk after we had arrived very late one Thanksgiving Eve. Facility is beautiful. Breakfast was good, lots of options, seating, and good location. Rooms are very clean.

The pillows on our king bed were very small but that won’t stop me from staying there again.

After a 500-mile day, I arrived at the hotel after having been hit by a car while on my motorcycle earlier. I was very sore all over and really needed a nice place to recover. Lorinda was very compassionate and helpful, arranging for me to stay on a lower floor and making sure I could get a room for the next night if needed. (I was able to return home the day.) A bonus was the great steak place a block away.

Rooms and linens were clean, beds were comfortable, location was peaceful and we felt safe. Hot (scrambled eggs, sausage and toast) and cold breakfast were wonderful and we got filled enough before heading out. The indoor pool and jacuzzi were a bonus! The hotel was in the town center so different restaurants (and ice cream shops) were within walking distance but we opted for the convenient-to-order Pizza Hut nearby. There was also a free outdoor concert within a couple of blocks.

The rooms could use a bit more lighting.

It was beautiful and comfortable. Very big room and lots of towels and had everything we needed.

I didn't like how the pool closed so early wished there was a way adults could go at a later time Also I wish check out was later then 11. The breakfast was a grab and go not what we was expecting but there could have been an actual breakfast at the other location we just didn't know.
