Church Street Inn, Ascend Hotel Collection

I traveled with my great niece for a "girlfriend" weekend. We loved how our balcony overlooked the market. For two ladies traveling alone, it was great to be within walking distance of so many restaurants, shops and fun things to do. The staff was kind and helpful, and the room was so nice! It's great to have the full kitchen to be able to have a meal and save money.

Nothing! We enjoyed everything about our stay. I cannot think of any improvements needed.

It was very charming and is located conveniently. Stacy is a true delight.

The only complaint that I have is the renovations that were happening at 7am on Saturday morning. I was woke up by the headboard being banged from work being done on the room next to ours. I felt that they were being inconsiderate of someone that paid alot to be there. I hope this prevents anyone else from having a similar experience. And they need to have a sitting area upstairs in the bedroom, nowhere to put on shoes etc. There was definately room for one.

Two story was great. 1.5 baths, even better. Kitchen, the best

The bed in Rm 212 needs to be replaced, plain and simple. To continue to give customers this room without disclosing the problem with the bed, confirmed by maintenance staff, would be inexcusable. Walking by the next day after we were moved by cooperative staff, we got the distinct impression it was occupied again. Could be wrong.

The location is excellent for walking to restaurants, shopping, and the waterfront. The neighborhoods in the area are just so amazing to walk. Our room was very quiet and comfortable, and had great amenities. The air conditioning worked perfectly.

Parking can be a little bit of a challenge with a shared public garage a block away. That said, parking can be a challenge anywhere near that location and the hotel makes it as easy as possible.

1 bedroom king suite - Excellent location right next to the daily market. It’s on 2 levels. Kitchen, 1/2 bath, living area w/ sofa bed downstairs, and a king bedroom w/ full bath and small balcony upstairs. Very spacious. Modern and nice furniture and bathrooms are new as well Staff was very nice and helpful Parking garage is around the corner.

Toilet in full bathroom needs to be secured to the floor. It looks like it’s been attempted many times. It was very wobbly. And the faucet in the bathtub was very loose too.

I have stayed at this particular hotel in the past mainly because of the location to the downtown historic area of Charleston. I kinda like the separation of the entry area and then having the bedroom upstairs. The staff has always very friendly and helpful when necessary.

No working light above kitchen sink and only (1) light bulb in light fixture in ceiling fixture making it very dark. The toilet paper used for this property is what I would call Gas Station toilet paper meaning single ply and the cheapest you can buy. For a nice hotel, in my opinion, this is totally unacceptable. Also when I went to get coffee near the lobby area the coffee cups provided were so small it was like getting an amount of coffee that would you would get from one of the paper cone shaped cups attached to a outdoor workmans water cooler.

Fabulous location! Step out to the market, restaurants, carriage rides and live music all within one block! The courtyard was peaceful, a great place to picnic and have a glass of wine at the end of a busy touring day.

Perfect location: we walked all over the city from this destination. It is right in the middle of everywhere we wanted to be. The room is really a two-story setup. Upstairs is a bedroom with a king-sized bed, dresser, TV, desk, closet and master bath. Downstairs is a sitting area with a sofa, desk/table with 2 chairs, a half-bath, and a full kitchen. The place was very clean and well-kept. It's a hot, humid city that floods frequently--so it's impossible to expect pristine, perfection all the time. But they came close. The bed was comfortable. While the place is lovely, the staff are amazing. Every person we spoke to--Maria, Ty, and Jerry (Gary? Jared? I'm sorry, I forgot!), are all passionate about the city and making sure their guests enjoy themselves. They had great recommendations and information and were truly nice and personable.

This is not on the hotel--but COVID! The COVID restrictions were the only things uncomfortable. But we won't complain. We were happy the hotel was taking precautions.

This was a last minute trip and booking. The room was clean and comfortable. It contained a FULLY stocked kitchen, and was in an excellent location near sites, the market, and food! I enjoyed the muted decor, the courtyard view, and the overall relaxing environment.

I was disappointed that we had to pay a daily parking fee. The bathroom was a bit of a tight space. But the biggest concern would be for anyone who has difficulty navigating stairs. There is an elevator from lobby to floor, but within the room itself you must climb rather steep stairs to access the bedroom.

The location was perfect! Breakfast was not available but it was a very short walk to a couple very good breakfast places. The staff was very kind and welcoming. The hotel was beautiful and quiet. We would definitely stay again!

The only thing that I can think of to recommend, would be to put a small chair in the upstairs by the bed. The bed was tall and it was hard to sit on to put on your shoes.
