Clean and quiet

When I got there the front desk person told me that booking.com lied to me and many more because they were booked hours ago. He asked me to call and complain right there. We walked out the hotel and then the same guy said that he just got a cancelation and it was the same room we reserved because it was a single king size bed. He said he felt sorry for my boy son. And he changed me $30 over the price booking.com quoted me. What a steal! He knew it was late and took advance of us.

We travel a lot for soccer and it becomes very expensive very quickly. So I wasn’t expecting much when I booked the Microtel Inn due to lower price range compared to what was around that area. But to my surprise, not only was the location amazing, the hotel was very clean, organized, very adequate even cute and cozy. The staff were courteous and friendly. We did not try the breakfast nor the coffee, but I am assuming it is what is is: ok and better than nothing, but I don’t want to judge since I did not have any.

The only complaint I have really are the towels. You know these towels that don’t actually dry you, but instead feel like they can’t absorb any water?? Yep, these are the towels they have, sadly. so maybe bring your own, or maybe the manager can consider addressing this issue. The other con is about the size of the pillows. The smallest pillows I’ve ever seen on a bed. Definitely not queen size pillows or even double. They were TINY, comfortable and soft, but really really small.

The property is located conveniently, and there’s a great restaurant you can walk across the parking lot to. The hotel is maintained well, and the gentleman at the front desk (manager I believe) engaged with us & was very helpful, wrote down restaurant recommendations for us.

They were resurfacing the parking lot which made entering difficult, BUT upgrading is great! The continental breakfast shuts down early.

I purchased breakfast prior to arriving at the hotel. I’m vegan and the hotel does not offer vegan options. The one thing I did not like-the room doors slam loudly. Each time I went to the desk, each person was very kind especially the slender guy who checked me in initially. My stay was from Friday evening to Monday early AM. I would stay again without a doubt! We didn't eat breakfast at th hotel because it was a small space and way too busy. We were able to check in and get to our rooms side by side very quickly.

The front desk was a little difficult and clearly agitated when we checked in. It was later around 9pm but the person was on the phone with earbuds in and didn't acknowledge us for a few minutes while we waited to check in and then was agitated at the separate reservations.

This hotel was great for the price, I've stayed at competing hotels for $20+ more a night and have run into similar (and sometimes worse) issues. There were no bugs or hairs or stains on anything so I was content. Unfortunately, in my experience, BARELY keeping everything clean and working seems to be par for the course. So if I can get that standard in a safe area...I'm not complaining. Especially if it's $20 cheaper than the competitors (which, at this time, Microtel locations seem to be able to offer that at most locations). I truly wish ALL businesses would put a little more time and effort into what they're offering and how they're presenting it but...that's a rant/review for another day.

I was satisfied with everything except the carpet floor felt damp to my bare feet and the room smelled like stinky feet. In fact, as you walk down the hallways, I felt I was being struck by many, different, not pleasant smells. I just kept my shoes on, and I had sprayed everything down with Lysol anyway, so the odor went away.

Very well maintained facility ... noticed nothing that needed attention and I'm fairly picky. Staff was exceptionally personable ... nice and sincere.

The breakfast was lacking and I was there an hour before closing. One tiny (8oz) carton of milk left, no butter for decent French toast, typical waffles, and maybe room temperature syrup. I don't have high expectations, but this didn't meet even those mediocre goals. If this is the best that can be done, one shouldn't even advertise "breakfast"; then anything would be a pleasant surprise.

I liked the price, the smaller more efficient room size was nice. I don't need a big room when I travel for work so I would gladly stay in a smaller room to save money. It was very clean and I had everything I needed. I will definitely check here first next time I'm in Greenville.

The breakfast was continental so not much I could eat on a Keto diet. However I would rather not have a hot breakfast option if it keeps the room price down. A breakfast bar or a muffin and a cup of coffee would have worked very well for me if not for my diet.

The property was very convenient, being close to I-385, and having good access to a number of restaurants

knowing it was a low priced facility, the vast portion of valued entities was great, but the egg omelettes stored in a cooler for breakfast are very bad, I didn’t know what they were.
