Hôtel De La Cathédrale

The hotel was close to the Cathedral and St Maclou and therefore excellent for visiting the monuments in the city. Our room overlooked a lane running alongside the Cathedral and although we were awoken early when the refuse carts came to clear the bins in the street and collect rubbish from the businesses, noise was not otherwise intrusive. We stayed an extra night and spent this in another room overlooking the central court yard and this was very quiet, had we spent all four nights in that room our rating would have been 9. The breakfasts were excellent and there was a good selection on the buffet.

There was nothing that we did not like.

Hotel De La Cathedrale was centrally located in a picturesque cobblestoned medieval street. We were able to store our bags before check in at 3pm. Our room was on the 2nd floor accessible by a lift. The room was basic but had a nice little view onto the courtyard. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was adequate & the water hot. There was a kettle, tea & coffee. The mints were a nice touch. Breakfast was available.

The property was very basic & lacked character. The lampshade was dusty. I had to ask for milk for the tea. The staff were pleasant but not overly welcoming.

Very lovely hotel in the center of Ruoen. The room was wonderful, and the beds were super comfortable. Room had a lot of light with large windows. Large bathroom was very well equipped and cosy! The breakfast was great and situated in a lovely pleasant environment. The hotel is is a brilliant location with easy access to the historic part of Rouen.

Hot water was turned off at night and also went off during the day for a long period of time, so we couldn't have hot shower when we wanted.

Breakfast was ok - no hot food when we got there, but plenty of choice otherwise. Beautiful boutique hotel in quaint street near the cathedral and plenty of restaurants, cafes and shops. We also walked to the train station and caught a train to Paris for a day!

Fittings looked really tired and carpets old and faded. Shower wasn’t great but bathroom equipped well enough. Barely saw any staff but that didn’t especially matter! All in all a good place to stay and base ourselves. Rouen has plenty of life.

Very pleasant, smiling staff member. Greeted us very politely and warmly. She let us know the times for breakfast and made welcome suggestions about restaurants for dinner. Perfect location in the old town right beside the cathedral. Slept all night in a very comfortable bed. Nice and quiet at night in the heart of Rouen city. Room was spotlessly clean, with pretty finishing touches. Have stayed once before and will definitely be returning.

Wasn't unhappy with anything at all

Delightfully charming property in an excellent location to see all of the attractions of Rouen. Extensive continental breakfast is good value for money. Friendly staff.

The housekeeping of the room was a little bit hit and miss. there are tea & coffee making facilities but only espresso sized cups provided. The kind gentleman on reception provided us with 2 cups but then the room attendant removed them. Maybe supply another cake of soap but that’s just me. .

The location was possibly one of the best in the city, located at the end of the center of town. It made the walk-through linear and easy. The room itself had plenty of space. As I was leaving the gentleman asked if I had the breakfast, I said I did not because I woke up late. He still gave me a croissant anyway and said no morning in France should start without one. Excellent gesture from the lad!

The walls were somewhat thin but nothing that caused any real issues.

Everything about this hotel is great: it’s perfectly positioned in the centre of Rouen, the staff are friendly and efficient, the room was clean and the bed comfortable, the generous buffet breakfast was varied and tasty, and the arrangement for late arrivals via Booking.com’s messaging system worked perfectly. The ancient, timber-framed building is full of quirky delights, its central courtyard is an oasis of calm, and, not having been able to visit for a few years, we were delighted to discover that the hotel still has a resident cat!

The wi-fi was a bit flaky - but since we didn’t come to Rouen to sit indoors and browse the internet, this wasn’t really too much of a problem!

Dead centre location right alongside the cathedral precincts in a historic street. Charming and quirky old hotel half medieval half art deco. Large nicely decorated room. Good French style breakfast

In an email Booking Com promised free parking would be provided but this was not the case. Parking was nearby but cost €15 a day.. Small points - Hotel Internet connection was over complicated . Lighting in corridors on floor 2 was not working for 2 days - a bit hazardous in an old building with numerous changes of floor level.

Brilliantly located in the historic quarter on a pedestrian street next to the cathedral in a listed half timbered building. It made our stay in Rouen more special. The breakfast was good and great value for money. Car parking not far away and easy to find. We would definitely stay again.

Only that the Wi-Fi was annoying, requiring repeated login and not allowing 2 devices on the account at once.
