Hotel Kurrajong Canberra

Fantastic staff, beautiful building and gardens and it’s a great location if you enjoy walking to the attractions. There are a few restaurants and coffee shops and a grocery store (with alcohol) a couple of minutes walk from the hotel.

The room could do with a good cleaning - under the bed, top of fridge and window sills behind the shutters. The mattress needs to be turned over as it’s been slept on way too long.

We had breakfast one morning and and the tea, juice and coffee bar had completely run out. We were unclear about the ordering system as many other people that morning. The staff on the front desk were very helpful. Top marks to them !!!

The hotel has a lot of history and heritage. It’s a great location with easy access to all the sites. It’s been renovated nicely and looks lovely. Staff were very friendly and helpful.

Unfortunately the housekeeping aspect of the room was poor. Our bathroom had not been cleaned properly when we checked in. There were toe nails on the floor and urine stains around the toilet. When we told reception they did organise getting it cleaned. The daily clean and room make up by the house keepers was really poor. They did not make the beds properly. They left pillows on the floor. They did not vacuum or clean anything. It was very surprising given the standard of the hotel. But sadly the cleaning aspect of it was extremely poor.

My room had an atmosphere of understated fine quality and care. I appreciated the practicality of what was provided. The shower was great, the bed was very comfortable, and I was grateful for the desk. I didn't have any meals at the hotel, but the dining area looked superb; very relaxed and spacious. When I needed assistance with anything, the staff were superb, very courteous and straightforward. I liked the convenience of the location of the hotel

This comment probably doesn't fit here. The view from my room was just of other parts of the hotel, but that didn't bother me at all. It was easy to go and sit somewhere else around the hotel, and I found a great coffee shop nearby. Plenty of great places to walk to.

Excellent location and staff. Room was also excellent, very clean and comfortable. Great breakfast. Internet connection good. Ample parking at hotel.

Despite booking for three persons (two adults and one 14yo) we were initially given a room with only two single beds. The concierge told us we should have requested an extra bed however it was quite self-explanatory through the booking that we required bedding for three. Thankfully the matter was remedied quickly and we were transferred to a suitable room. No streaming services available (eg Netflix) and our personal devices would not connect to the television.

Beautiful quiet room with attractive furnishings. Great bathroom with natural light. Delicious breakfast with lovely garden outlook (make sure you include it when booking).

From 6.00 to 6.25 am each morning we were disturbed by a strong sound like water gushing through pipes. Also the old windows are lovely, but one constantly rattled due to minor internal building vibration. I stopped it at night by inserting a shoe between the window and the shutter.

Room size. Bed size. Coffee machine. Large TV with HDMI access. Luggage trolley. Side access which has a ramp to make it easier for large luggage. Room heating. Fireplace at the lobby. Walking distance to National Archives, Canberra Service Club, Cafes and the lake.

Difficult to wheel in luggage at front entrance due to steps. Happy hour $12 special was out of date and was only meant during covid period. Cheese platter price was incorrect on menu. They do not serve port or muscat despite what their menu says. No milk frother available for room coffee machine. No coffee mugs or large tea cups. No free guest parking. No dim lighting in ensuite to help you navigate at night.

The staff were incredibly accomodating and helpful. i was on crutches and they went out of their way to offer assistance, making me feel very welcome.

The only downside was my friend booked a table fir dinner and we could not be accomodate inside the main dining area (despite vacant tables), we still enjoyed a lovely meal accompanied by a nice red wine. The only issue was the cold sitting in the outside area, even after going back to my room to grab a coat it was too cold to stay and eat dessert. I had a delicious pumpkin soup for an entree accompanied with a warm Artisan bread roll. For mains my friend and I had the Sirloin and a side of Broccolini side. The food was excellent.

Great service from the front desk staff, felt genuinely welcomed back as I have stayed here a few times over the years. The rooms are always clean, comfortable and well appointed.

The only small critique I have is with the onsite breakfast option in the dining room - the menu has changed since I stayed here in 2022 and the prices have mostly increased to the $25-$30 range with only three options under $20 now. The old menu used to be better value and given that there are limited other dining options in the hotel’s vicinity I was disappointed by this change.

Beautiful hotel and rooms. Great for a work stay, desk available.

Car park was a very long way from my room. I was offered no assistance in getting my bags to the room which was a problem as I had an arm injury and was on my own, and had to make many trips - my room was so far back it took 10 minutes each trip. Just a trolley would have been of some help. Next time if I am driving I will probably stay somewhere else. Carpark also cost $17 per night not per visit, which is a lot to park so far from the room - it wasn’t convenient.
