This historical hotel / pub with hints of Art Deco pink exterior has been renovated inside with stylish modern furnishing and fittings. High ceilings, comfortable bed and warm room stay in winter with a fabulous hot shower after a ride on the new Northern Rivers Rail Trail. Used the hotel's restaurant with a good menu selection and 4 of us had a delicious dinner. They don't offer breakfast so we went to a local cafe across the road.

Carpark has limited off street parking at the back on a first in basis. Our friends weren't able to get a carpark until late at night when pub patrons had left. Some noises noted early morning from early risers through the walls possibly echoing through high ceiling/hallways but they do supply earplugs for sensitive sleepers.

The Imperial is a very centrally located, well run hotel which I understand has fairly recently had significant renovations. The owners have done an excellent job. The result is in keeping with a 1931 Hotel decor but with modern facilities, no mean feat I would imagine. I didn't know the hotel before, but would have no hesitation in staying there again. My room was pristine, had a very good shower in the large bathroom, and a balcony with table & chairs outside, a bonus which I enjoyed for an early morning coffee. Intending guests should be aware there is no lift - but only about 15 steps on the staircase leading to the upstairs accommodation. The parking behind the hotel is very convenient - particularly if you're lucky enough to find a shady spot. I stayed 3 days, had a couple of light meals which were good quality and value for $. The staff I met were very pleasant, helpful and spoke to the best of country pub hospitality. Well done and thanks everyone at the Imperial. I was pleasantly surprised and will make your hotel my "home away from home" when I'm visiting the Northern Rivers again.

The room itself was very clean and comfortable and the location is right in the middle of town. They also gave us a drink voucher for the bar which was nice.

The checkin was very unclear as we arrived and had no idea where to go for the hotel checkin as we walked straight into the pub. We then asked someone who told us the bar manager would check us in. So some better, clearer signage for the hotel would be better. There was also no window in our room. There was loud music until 10pm but they did give us advance warning and some earplugs so it was fine.

Staff were friendly and helpful, especially with upgrading the room after the folks in the room next to me decided to have a 3 hour barney at 1am. The hotel has had a recent refurbishment and looks great. The pub dinners are pretty good. There was a live performance and trivia night during my stay. Location in the centre of Murwillumbah is very handy and walkable. Ample parking. Lovely skylight in windowless room kept it from feeling stuffy.

The entire bathroom floor gets covered in water during even a 1 minute shower. It was crazy. It's probably a good thing that there are no power points in the bathroom, for this reason, but extra hooks would be helpful for keeping things off the floor.

neat tidy and modern. All staff I encountered were amazing, they were super accommodating to a late check out for us which allowed out 1 year old his morning nap! I was so impressed by this.

I think our room was above the band on the Saturday night. It was really loud, we had a 1 year old with us so I was a bit nervous about his sleeping but he was so tired he wasn’t bothered by it at all. I just wished I could have gone down to check it out 😀

Located well for access to new Northern Rivers Rail Trail. Exceptional decor as newly refurbished. Cudos to the interior decorator! Meals were well priced and wonderful. I had the lamb cutlets and our party ordered a variety of dishes. All were exceptional and well priced. Will be recommending to friends.

Would have been good to have a mirror in bedroom. Only one was in the bathroom and no powerpoint there (stayed in room 24) so had to try and use blow dryer from this room while looking into the bathroom.

The rooms have all been freshly renovated in keeping with the age of the building and it is beautiful.

Murwillumbah is the start of the new Northern Rivers Rail trail, and although we were allowed to keep our bikes in the room, it was a very steep staircase to get them into the room, and we were very careful not to mess up the beautiful renovations. It would be great if the hotel could provide a safe lockup for travellers with bikes.

Room was very clean and spacious. Loved the balcony! Staff was amazing! Bed was comfy enough and the bathroom had everything you need.

The rooms had a Stove but provided no pots or pans to use it, plus no microwave - stayed a few nights and I wish I had the option to just stay in and eat instead of needing to rely on the hotel bar food downstairs.

We made an impromptu visit, on our way to a camping trip in the pouring rain and aborted last minute and found this hidden gem on our way to Pottsville. The rate was reasonable and right in the main street of town. The room was small and we had an internal room. The room was clean and tidy and suited our needs, very generous size bathroom. The old pipes were a bit noisy in the morning when neighbouring rooms were having showers. Overall the stay met our expectations and was more than comfortable. Bonus was the absolutely beautifully renovated pub downstairs!

The check in, there was a reception area at the back of the pub that was not staffed. You had to go back into the pup to find a staff member to check you in.

Hotel has been renovated to a very high standard - brilliantly done. We stayed in a fantastic refurbished room, with a huge balcony. Great meal at the hotel restaurant. Super comfy bed, big white fluffy towels, even champagne glasses in the room. Highly recommend for an overnite stay in a lovely town. Make sure you have breakfast at The Austral Cafe - huge serves of great food!

Room was very small but the superb decor made up for it.
